Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!

Training Gym

Fight club have finally gotten a gym to train in. Train carriages make strange gyms, long narrow spaces. But this has mats, balance beams, climbing apparatus. Pads and training dummies for punching. It also has large blocks that look a little like what you might find in a children's play centre but can be used to make obstacle courses or provide cover in training exercises.

Set up a course, practice fighting or try and learn how to throw a punch! There are plenty who will help, people who take training super seriously and let's face it, people who want to ambush others from behind oversized foam blocks.

Games

For those for whom fighting is not an idea of fun, or those wanting more relaxation, the games carriage has a whole collection of different games. Board games, card games, dice games. There are many games about trains but they aren't the only type.

There are low tables in the carriage to set a game up on and plenty of beanbags and cushions to sit on. Grab a game, grab a friend or a complete stranger and get playing!

Water Maze

The latest mission has taken the voidtreckers to an underwater maze. They have been given wet suits, helmets and breathing apparatus- lightweight boxes that strap to their back, connect to their helmet and filter air from the water. A powerful and dangerous artifact has been stolen and the race is on to get it back before it is used for ill.

Team One

Plenty of monsters and foes have been sent to try and retrieve the item. Giant crabs, strange eels. Even people with fish tails and the ability to breathe underwater. All are dangerous foes and fighting underwater is difficult.

But team one are the vanguard, keeping the monster levels low to allow team two to push on through the maze.

Team Two

Hopefully team one will deal with the monsters, but the odd one might sneak through. Team two's main job is to solve the maze, because the thief is in the centre in order to perform his ritual.

It's a race against time, the maze is made of coral and walls of seaweed that are impossible to cut through. Solving it requires a quick mind and some determined swimming.

Team Three

For those not wishing to brave the water, or those whose skills lie more in helping others. The island where the artefact was stolen from needs help. The temple was ransacked and some of the islanders were injured. Help them fix their homes, put the temple back to rights, tend to the injured.

Cleaning the temple is a big job, but hopefully by the time the artefact has been retrieved it will be able to be restored to it's rightful place.

[ xingchen is none the wiser, he just gives out a huff - childish and frustrated as he watches xue yang turn away.

he can't do anything here but watch and make sure he does not hurt anyone else, but... well. xiao xingchen has never known when to leave things well enough alone. ]

[He wishes he knew how to fix this but he doesn't lie. He avoids the truth at times and circles around what needs to be said. But he will not lie to this man and pretending that the world is just black and white and that he regrets the things he did would be just a lie to make Xingchen not hate him.]

I won't bother you anymore.

[He moves towards the door.]

[shuanghuas]

You know I can't leave you alone after what you've just said. [ xiao xingchen speaks, low and laced with anger and frustration. ] If you're not going to protect anyone but yourself, if you have no regrets about hurting others and will do it again.

You know very well I can't leave you alone. I cannot let you hurt others.

[callmegladio]

... That asshole has a hell of a lot to answer for. [There was a very pissed off growl to Gladio's voice. While he hadn't seen all of the interesting things that bastard had done, he'd heard about them. And he'd heard enough to know if he were to ever show up on the train, he would be killed straight out. No questions. Just instant death. Gladio would have no remorse.

And then the next question.

Gladio's anger slipped and he pulled back to look down at Noct and gave a low laugh.]

I do hugs. And I'm Gladio... but I guess I'm more free with them here.

[Back home he wouldn't have felt as comfortable to hug anyone quite like this. But he had hugged, usually just an arm around shoulders kinds of hugs, that was as affectionate as he could risk.]

I'm not going to hurt anyone else. There is no point in doing such things here. No one here has done anything to me. So you don't have to worry about keeping track of me.

[His voice and demeanor has lost some of his usual spark.]

After our conversation, I cannot trust those words. You say there is no point, that no one here has done anything - but what if they do in future? What if someone provokes you? Or you lash out because you feel entitled to?

You have given me nothing to believe you. Only poor justifications for your behaviour. [ and it is clear that it distresses xiao xingchen to have had this conversation, he's angry and frustrated and clearly now alarmed at the lack of spark he sense in xue yang.

a smiling xue yang is one thing, but without that spark - was he not more dangerous?]

If that were true, don't you think I would have already attacked you? Have you not also just been provoking me with your words?

[He turns slightly to look back at the other man. Although he would never attack Xingchen now, that doesn't mean what he says isn't true. That of all the people in this place, Xingchen would be the ones most deserving of his lashing out.]

[luckydragonsfoot]

Righ'!

[Time is of the essence after all. He starts heading toward another direction.] In tha' case-

[...Pauses. Moves around in the opposite direction of what was a four path crossoards, and starts going that way instead.] Th's way ought do it!

[luckydragonsfoot]

Nyyyhh... [A pause.]

...I've had worse, [he calls back 'reassuringly', groaning as he hauls himself off the cubes.] Geeze, they're like a sinkhole... [WHY ARE THEY IMPOSSIBLE TO ESCAPE

Kaseri gives another very cheery whinny, and butts her head at the other's hand. Fortunately not the part where the horn is.]

Yeeeugggh...Righ'...guess we gotta work on keepin' her attention, so tha' doesn't happen at th' wrong momen', [he grumbles, eventually standing.]

Uh...Anyway, guess I forgot t' introduce y' both. Yugi, th's Kaseri, Kaseri, th's Yugi! She's uh...

...Like a pony but smarter.

...

An' small.

[Nailed it.]

Yeah, sorta! Kinda weird act'lly, right before I got here, they were startin' to set up for their own sorta task force b'tween worlds an' all that.

So...I guess I'm just on a differen' one?

[He shrugs.]

[There was a silent nod and the advisor moved thoughtfully away from the king perched atop the beam. It was no surprise the other would try something like this so he isn't saying anything. However, green eyes kept a close eye on him. He swore an oath at six and it was still in place. Though for now Noct got a resigned sigh.]

Just try to leave more honey cakes for other people next time.

[On second thought maybe he should just make a batch for the king first and send him on his way first.]

[Wester pats Jonouchi on the head, smiling condescendingly in a way that is definitely Mazaki.]

Awww, don't worry. You'll have a chance to catch up; Kaiba's runs a school here so you won't have to miss a day!

[luckydragonsfoot]

[BOY IT SURE IS. Who else could handle patting the head of someone taller than them that casually?

Or well. Him anyway.

(He's trying not to think of dogs. It's easy when the latest bit catches up.)] NYH-

What!? Kaiba does?!

[At least he's guessed by now that it's not his Seto Kaiba.] I don' need t' be taught by Kaiba..!

[Against himself, that part comes out more like a whine.

(He's failing to not think of dogs.)]

[Embrace your destiny, Jonouchi. It's only a very, very short year away.]

You do realize that if he hears you say that, it's even odds on whether he'll ignore you even more pointedly or drag you to school just to make a point, right?

...granted, he's been a lot softer ever since we got on the train, so it's actually more likely that he'll try to get some education through that thick skull of yours.

Whatdya mean some! I got two years of highschool down! ...And a bit. Two an' a bit years!

...What would even happen when we got through the rest, a train graduation?

The giant spider in the dressing room could make caps and gowns~

[Part of him- the part that's pulling a face right now- hears 'giant spider' and tries not to enter a dead faint.

The other part- mostly the part that remembers being mom-ed at by the insect queen who may as well be a spider, even if that's not an insect or whatever, swallows and manages to speak.]

We don' even do the gown thing at highschool I thought...

[He feels like he would have noticed. Probably.] A-An' tha' aint th' point! I can do plenty of other stuff other than school! Like... Nyyhh...Train stuff!

[He almost said duel, and then almost said fighting, and then realized that for various reasons both of those are probably bad answers.]

Really. And what sort of train stuff would you be doing? Please elaborate, I'd love to hear the details.

[Wester raises an eyebrow that's somehow familiar in two distinct ways, but Jonouchi can tell they're a few moments away from breaking out into happy giggling.]

[Katsuya opens his mouth.

Katsuya closes his mouth, looking to Wester, and then away, and then back at Wester, and then at the spirits not a word out of you you little shits, and-

He crosses his arms.] Well! Obviously tha's gonna change up every now an' then righ'? Like how it's cookin' time right now!

...Which means I gotta...learn t' cook. I guess.

[He is quietly wondering if he should have just taken normal school.]

[Wester's somewhat mean-spirited smirk softens into a genuine smile as they look Jonouchi up and down. They've missed him. They've really, really missed him.]

You know, I might be able to give you a few tips. I've learned how to whip up a pretty decent curry ever since I got kicked out, after all.

[wait what,]

[He likes to think he's good at hiding surprise, when he wants it hidden.

He can't really keep his brows from going up.] ...Oh.

[Oh.

He knows some worlds are different. That's just how they are. He'd wondered why things seemed different about this 'Anzu', and apparently here's why. Other than age, they...] I...

......Did y'...have anywhere t' go..? [He manages a bit weakly, assuming that when they say 'kicked out' they mean more recently. Maybe something other than 'Malikisms' got to this Anzu's mom. They obviously don't. Have the 'Malikisms', after all, but there's probably something else, he thinks.]

[Oh.

It figured, now that Wester actually took a few seconds to think about it instead of casually blabbing like an idiot. No Puzzle, no Thorn, no Shadow Game with Jonouchi, no self-destructive drunken makeover, no apartment getting burned down, no confrontation with the parents... no getting the boot.]

Yeah, I... [Wester looks away, rubbing their shoulder. They're uncomfortable with this subject for several reasons. Especially since they're having to explain it to Jonouchi of all people.] I stayed with a friend—you wouldn't know her, I think—for a week, then sorted things out so I crashed in the Mutous' basement until we all graduated. [Most of this is true. Technically. Wester turns around, forcing a smile on their face.] Don't worry! I came out of it fine. If anything, I learned more life skills than I would've underneath my old roof, so I should be thankful!

[Also thankful for several more reasons.]

[The problem with deflection, is he does that a lot himself.

Maybe he's not the best at it, but then again no one said Wester was the best at it either.

...

When he thinks about it, maybe you don't have to be good at it. It's rough enough as is.] ...Yugi's mom 'n Gramps are good like tha', [He finally says with a nod, looking to the side.] ...Don' ask too many questions either. I uh... ...I did tha' a few times b'fore...

[Before Mokuba.

It was only perhaps three times as it was. One of those times was because of the Big 5.

He's not really sure that counts.] ...'S good t' get out of a place tha' would do tha', though, [he says a bit more quietly.] So uh...

...Congrats, I guess...

[An awkward cough.] I uh...I guess y' never worked in Engravin, where y' came from then...or...

[He glances away, briefly distracted by the duel spirits. After a short sigh (and a frown), he swallows.] Hey uh...

Y'know what? How long've y' been here? ...Why don' y' tell me what I've missed?

[Wester draws their own entirely unfounded conclusions about what he means about "before." After all, even with all of the differences between worlds, it still seems utterly impossible to them that Shizuka wouldn't enter the Battle City tournament to fight for her brother's freedom, after all.

They are going to be in for a nasty shock later.

As it is, they nod sagely, hands in their pockets.] Yeah. Yugi's luck to have them, really.

[At Jonouchi's question, they startle out of their slight melancholy and snort in good humor.] Engraving? Dang, almost wish that crossed my mind. I actually ended up working as a stockboy at Kame Game. Now I have upper and lower body strength! [They flex for emphasis, and hot diggety dang Mazaki has GUNS now! Even moreso than before!]

Only a few weeks, and they've been... weirdly mundane, apart from all of the nonsense of, you know, actually being here. Some girl organized a dance party that I- unfortunately missed, and whatever lets us communicate across language barriers broke down for a day, but that's been it? I haven't even been on a mission yet.

[Sorry Ignis, he doesn't catch that nod, though he does catch the sigh afterwards.]

[Ignis has moved away from the balance beam a bit, judging from the sound of his voice, so Noctis carefully jumps down, just in case Ignis decides to leave or move to a different part of the gym.]

Shouldn't you be telling him that, since I'm in here and he's still in the kitchen?
