Mission Six: Powers

Just a further explanation about magic and how it interacts with the world as I have (understandably) received a lot of questions about it. Here is the power information. If anyone has any further questions please ask!

Physical Magic

Magic that results in physical attacks (i.e throwing a fireball, magic missile or smiting someone with lightning) is not affected and works normally.

Anything like super strength or super speed etc will work as expected.

Healing Magic

If the healing is done by physical touch (by a person or object) then it will work as usual. If a character can heal over a distance using their mind or empathy it will not work (touching will still work).

Movement

Teleportation magic will work normally. Anything that requires changing your body from one state to another (i.e becoming intangible, turning into a magical girl, shifting into an animal etc) will work but will be difficult and the character will tire quicker than they normally world.

Anything that involves leaving their body completely (astral projection, spirit walking etc) will not work.

Movement such as flight will not be affected.

Summoning

Summoning creatures and weapons works- however doing so will feel draining and make characters more tired than they usually would be.

If characters have an emotional or mental bond with their summons then that is muted. It is still there if they focus hard enough but it is distant.

Bonds

If two characters are mystically bonded in any way or can usually sense each other/communicate telepathically etc this will be muted. Again the bond is still there and can be felt if they focus hard enough but there is a block there.

Any magic that is given as part of this bond cannot be accessed. However if a characters life/existence relies on the bond then they will not feel any ill effects due to the muting.

Sensing/Detecting magics

This is the category of magic that is most affected by whatever is happening.

~ No magic which detects or scans items or people will work.
~ Magic that manipulates objects, beings or any part of the environment will not work.
~ Empathy, mind reading or any other mind/emotional control magic will not work.
~ Telepathy will not work.
~ Talking to animals (of the non magical normally untalking variety) will not work.
~ Any sixth sense/future sensing, past sensing or other such abilities will not work.

World/Life sensing

For those who can sense life/force etc this world will feel very strange indeed, almost as if there is something between them and the world around them. As if they are feeling the world through a thick glove. Making the world far too 'quiet'.

It sounds like there's basically a sort of barrier between the characters and the world. Samata's arm relies on a sort of current of environmental energy to function, sort of like a windmill needs air to spin. Would this barrier that's blocking magic powers stop her arm from functioning?
