Test Drive Meme 011

Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!

3. Have much fun!

Happy testing!

Crisis On… A Ship!

The train has a game carriage and the VR video games are always popular. A good way to relive boredom as well as teaching some good skills.

Crisis on...This game can be played with two to four players. It is essentially a crisis simulator mixed with an escape room. You can chose the scenario (the bridge of a space ship, a camp in a jungle, a high rise building, a sailing ship etc) and you are thrown into the middle of a crisis of some kind. Teamwork and a cool head are important as is using the surroundings wisely.

Ahoy there! You and your small crew are on board a sailing ship in the middle of an ocean. But you are being chased by an enemy ship and there’s a storm brewing! There are many roles for you to chose from and different puzzles and problems to be solved. Batten down the hatches, flee the enemy ships and if necessary man the canons! Bring yourselves and your crew to harbour safely.

Dressing up

The upcoming mission is one in space and the void treckers have been told to blend in. The dressing room has been opened and what awaits them looks like it walked out of a old science fiction film. Shoulder pads, metalic colours. Everything over the top, ridiculous and not practical at all.

Yet the mission brief said to fit in. So swallow your pride and try and find outfits that aren’t too ridiculous. Or go all out and make the most of it, it’s not every day you can wear elaborate outfits after all.

Space Battle

As perhaps the outfits had suggested this world is an odd one, the outfits given to the voidtreckers make them some of the most subtle dressed people in the space city. Big, bold and loud. But the crisis is clear, an enemy force attacking this city filled with non combatants and children.

Team One

Space fighting time! The space ships are designed for two so voidtreckers will need a partner. There’s not much time to train so it will be mostly learning on the job, but it’s fine. The voidtreckers job is mostly to make up numbers, to split the enemy’s focus whilst those that know how to pilot go in to defeat the enemy.

Team Two

The problem with space battles is, there are a lot of injuries and a lot of damaged space ships. The space city is not one that has a large military so damaged ships need to be fixed as quickly as possible.

Help out the engineers. It might be the voidtreckers know a little about repairing ships themselves but even if they don’t, extra pairs of hands are always useful.

Team Three

This city is loud, bustling and full of life. But with the battle raging outside everyone needs to stay safe. Help people get to shelters. Clear the streets and begin the evacuation, though hopefully a full evacuation won’t be needed.

Space Disco

Enemies vanquished, this city does what it apparantly does best. That is, party. The music is way too loud, different songs out of each building, people dance in the streets, lights flash far too fast. There is strange street food to try, new dances to learn and a victory to celebrate.

Huh. See, I have heard those helmet things to be pretty useful, yeah. But they look like they'd mess up my hair. Let me look?

[Sven gently lifts up and peeks under Jing Yi's ice bag, replacing it before it can get a chance to melt under the proximity of his hands.]

That's rough, bud. I got sent down here because I told the guys running the place that I know how to heal, but they didn't...you might be better waiting on the other medics...

[Jing Yi only grins and is happy with the new ice bag replaced.]

Thanks!

Yeah, I think I got hit really hard and I didn't look where I was going. Yeah, gotta wait...

Are you're a healer? That's a good ability to have!

Y-yeah... It's pretty handy.

[He rubs his upper arm and looks away.]

It would just be nice if it didn't make the person who's hurt feel extremely worse before they got better. I mean, it's only for a couple seconds but...I've heard it's really bad. I try not to heal anybody myself unless it looks like they might die, or if the injury would take too long to heal on its own.

[Or if the injured party is real insistent that they can definitely handle it, but...the screams...]

I hear you. I'm not an experienced healer myself, not like my teacher.

I never experienced a mission like this before on an alien world. It's intense, but I find this experience new and exciting. And I thought back home, it was scary fighting the undead and dealing with ghosts.

[Meanwhile, a medic staff approach to hand Jing Yi some pain pills and a glass of water. Jing Yi smiles and said thank you.]

Anyway, I think we won't be staying on this planet for long and we'll head back to the train.

Really? You fought the undead? [Sven's eyes light up at hearing that.] So you were a cleric back on your home world? I've dabbled in ghost busting myself, you know. I always felt bad about having to kick out spirits with no resting place to call their own, but when kids start going missing from the towns neighbouring the forest, you can't really sit by and ignore that.

[He folds his arms in front of him, nodding to himself.]

I know what you mean, though. The unknown is scary. We didn't have anything like these big metal airships back on my world. Coming here and being expected to fight a war...in the stars? I still can't get my brain around it.

What's a cleric...?

[As his friend explains.] Same for you? Yeah, it's exactly like that. Back home, my clan's mission and specialty is putting the fierce corpses and evil spirits to rest, to bring order back to the world and give the villagers a piece of mind. I'm scared of ghosts, so that's why it's better for me to fight them in a team.

[With a nod] But we're helping people in other worlds, right? That's why we came on the train, to help others in worlds beyond. It's...new, but certainly open my eyes that there are life beyond my world.

But being expected to fight: doesn't that bother you?

[Sven looks down at his bare feet, his legs still dangled over the edge of the gurney, twisting his thumbs together in his lap.]

Not that it's the fighting that's the issue, here, it's-- Look. When you were facing ghosts and the undead with your team, you knew what was at stake. You knew who you were protecting, and to what end. And you knew your enemy...their motivations, what they were willing to risk. You looked them in their eyes, or their empty eye-sockets, or whatever, and said "hey, yo, demons! Get the hell out of town!" And if they didn't listen, then you set a holy fire under 'em, and if they still don't listen, then you use whatever force you need to to protect the people who are just tying to live in peace.

But we don't know this world or its people. We show up and we're told to get in one of those big air ships and go kill people whose faces we don't see, and when we pull a lever or push a button it's too easy. You don't have to look them in the eyes as they die. It's...

[He sighs a long, gravelly sigh, and rolls his head back on his shoulders.]

I'm sorry. Some bummer hospital company I am, right? I'm sure your noggin hurts enough already without me bitching about moral implications.
lanjingyi: cupcake_graphics@dw (004)

[personal profile] lanjingyi 2020-04-25 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[Jingyi listens to his tale. With confidence.]

Not at all! It doesn't bother me. As long I'm fighting to keep people safe, then that means I'm doing the right thing. There's a reason to go to a battle I choose.

Well, of course, I'm scared of facing something so scary because I was thinking, it's dead already and won't go in peace! Ghosts are real and they are scary! Some are stubborn and won't go in peace. In that case, I'll call one of my seniors for help, especially against a really strong monster and spirit that I can't handle on my own. It's not about winning or loosing, but for a battle, I want to be sure I will win.

It takes a lot of bravery, even though sometimes I'm scared too. But I know I'll be helping people feel safe like what everyone did during the mission when I helped out with the evacuation with the last mission.

[Shaking his once. Why he's apologizing? Jingyi only smiles, but he's young and lack in experience]

You're not a bummer, I assure you. Nobody wants to kill, not even I. We have to do what we have to do to finish a mission. We have a duty to save lives and know who is the enemy.
aggressivelygood: (008 ✪ The higher never come down)

[personal profile] aggressivelygood 2020-04-26 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
["We have to do what we have to do to finish a mission"... That kind of all-or-nothing thinking could get sloppy real quick. Sven mulls over Jingyi's assurances--he opens his mouth a couple of times, inhaling like he's about to spit out a rebuttal, but one never comes.]

Sure. Maybe.

[Maybe he'd feel better if he could still free his patron's holy presence in this place. Now that Sven actually thinks about it, his god never did offer their divine approval--nor reprimand--over any of Sven's choices. But he was given this power to protect. So he always assumed, or had faith, that divine right was on his side. If he were to lose his way, his patron would surely sever their arrangement. As long as his god was behind him, he could feel confident in his moral choices.

It's a lot more difficult to trust in such fairy tales now. His god isn't here but still his powers remain...and he's been cosigned into following somebody else's agenda. That alone is enough reason for him to question.]

I hope you're right. I want you to be right. But we're interlopers in these places. We can shield innocents, but I can't blindly trust that we're not killing people who wouldn't have surrendered instead if given the option. I swore my oath to defend life and speak up for those who can't. I never asked to join a war.
