Test Drive Meme 011

Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!

3. Have much fun!

Happy testing!

Crisis On… A Ship!

The train has a game carriage and the VR video games are always popular. A good way to relive boredom as well as teaching some good skills.

Crisis on...This game can be played with two to four players. It is essentially a crisis simulator mixed with an escape room. You can chose the scenario (the bridge of a space ship, a camp in a jungle, a high rise building, a sailing ship etc) and you are thrown into the middle of a crisis of some kind. Teamwork and a cool head are important as is using the surroundings wisely.

Ahoy there! You and your small crew are on board a sailing ship in the middle of an ocean. But you are being chased by an enemy ship and there’s a storm brewing! There are many roles for you to chose from and different puzzles and problems to be solved. Batten down the hatches, flee the enemy ships and if necessary man the canons! Bring yourselves and your crew to harbour safely.

Dressing up

The upcoming mission is one in space and the void treckers have been told to blend in. The dressing room has been opened and what awaits them looks like it walked out of a old science fiction film. Shoulder pads, metalic colours. Everything over the top, ridiculous and not practical at all.

Yet the mission brief said to fit in. So swallow your pride and try and find outfits that aren’t too ridiculous. Or go all out and make the most of it, it’s not every day you can wear elaborate outfits after all.

Space Battle

As perhaps the outfits had suggested this world is an odd one, the outfits given to the voidtreckers make them some of the most subtle dressed people in the space city. Big, bold and loud. But the crisis is clear, an enemy force attacking this city filled with non combatants and children.

Team One

Space fighting time! The space ships are designed for two so voidtreckers will need a partner. There’s not much time to train so it will be mostly learning on the job, but it’s fine. The voidtreckers job is mostly to make up numbers, to split the enemy’s focus whilst those that know how to pilot go in to defeat the enemy.

Team Two

The problem with space battles is, there are a lot of injuries and a lot of damaged space ships. The space city is not one that has a large military so damaged ships need to be fixed as quickly as possible.

Help out the engineers. It might be the voidtreckers know a little about repairing ships themselves but even if they don’t, extra pairs of hands are always useful.

Team Three

This city is loud, bustling and full of life. But with the battle raging outside everyone needs to stay safe. Help people get to shelters. Clear the streets and begin the evacuation, though hopefully a full evacuation won’t be needed.

Space Disco

Enemies vanquished, this city does what it apparantly does best. That is, party. The music is way too loud, different songs out of each building, people dance in the streets, lights flash far too fast. There is strange street food to try, new dances to learn and a victory to celebrate.

[ Tidus is glad it's not too tricky to help Jing Yi out. Actually, it's fun in a way: to watch someone unused to such technology give it the time of day, and not be all fussed about it being machinery.

Or maybe it's just doing something Tidus never thought he'd get to do again. Regardless, bumbling a few times himself (hey, it's a new game for him too!), he's engaged in the 'mission', and the pair of them figuring out how to get around the obstacles they find.

The personal talk is just as welcome, though Tidus doesn't look away from the screen beyond a quick glance. ]

Chess? I know a chess. With the board and the pieces you move around? [ Great explanation. ] What's the other one?

[Jingyi's coordination using the controller has gotten better and he's getting the gist.]

Chess, checkers, and mahjong. It's all board games, but they're boring to play though. Most of the old people back home seem to like playing those games. Where I'm from, in my clan, we study a lot like reading and writing a lot of sutras and spells to learn magic, so I don't have much time to have fun or play games.

[ He's nodding, the part about old people playing board games definitely ringing a note. ]

Well, I won't tell anyone if you have some fun while you're here! [ He leans in just a little with that, a friendly grin on his face. Their secret! ] 'part from the missions we're meant to have, doesn't sound like we've got much else to worry over. We should make the most of it.

[ Tidus certainly is, 'cause what else is there to do? But he'll throw in the question, since he's curious-- ] What's a sutra?

[Jingyi smiles brightly.]

Yeah, I heard about missions. This train is going to the next world, an alien planet I heard? That's why people are wearing colored uniforms to identify as a team.

[At his question.]

It's a type of religious scripture and philosophy. I study reading them to understand spirit energy to use in my magic.

[ Ahh, religious stuff, huh? ]

You gotta write your magic too? Sounds like a load of work! [ It's sympathetically stated, and probably why learning magic has always been a hassle for him, but details schemtails. ] Just doing it is pain enough... You've got to focus the energy and transform it to do what you want, right?

[ He puts on a bit of a voice there, dulled like it's a lesson he's heard far too many times (read: more than once). At the same time, he's waved his hands some in added dramatics, his controller still in one -- and his thumb pushing on the analog stick, sending his player character jogging straight into a stream with a splash!

Oops! ]

Yeah, I was taught to write spells on talismans and it takes a lot of focus. It's important to write correctly because my teachers are strict about that. It's for fighting the undead, evil spirits, and ghosts, so they can be laid to rest. That's what my clan are known for.

[Watching the screen, he sees his character got stuck and Jingyi moves it out to follow Tidus's character running along the stream in search and quest for the location on the map.]

The work can be scary, I didn't like dealing with ghosts.
