Crisis On… A Ship!

The train has a game carriage and the VR video games are always popular. A good way to relive boredom as well as teaching some good skills.

Crisis on...This game can be played with two to four players. It is essentially a crisis simulator mixed with an escape room. You can chose the scenario (the bridge of a space ship, a camp in a jungle, a high rise building, a sailing ship etc) and you are thrown into the middle of a crisis of some kind. Teamwork and a cool head are important as is using the surroundings wisely.

Ahoy there! You and your small crew are on board a sailing ship in the middle of an ocean. But you are being chased by an enemy ship and there’s a storm brewing! There are many roles for you to chose from and different puzzles and problems to be solved. Batten down the hatches, flee the enemy ships and if necessary man the canons! Bring yourselves and your crew to harbour safely.

Dressing up

The upcoming mission is one in space and the void treckers have been told to blend in. The dressing room has been opened and what awaits them looks like it walked out of a old science fiction film. Shoulder pads, metalic colours. Everything over the top, ridiculous and not practical at all.

Yet the mission brief said to fit in. So swallow your pride and try and find outfits that aren’t too ridiculous. Or go all out and make the most of it, it’s not every day you can wear elaborate outfits after all.

Space Battle

As perhaps the outfits had suggested this world is an odd one, the outfits given to the voidtreckers make them some of the most subtle dressed people in the space city. Big, bold and loud. But the crisis is clear, an enemy force attacking this city filled with non combatants and children.

Team One

Space fighting time! The space ships are designed for two so voidtreckers will need a partner. There’s not much time to train so it will be mostly learning on the job, but it’s fine. The voidtreckers job is mostly to make up numbers, to split the enemy’s focus whilst those that know how to pilot go in to defeat the enemy.

Team Two

The problem with space battles is, there are a lot of injuries and a lot of damaged space ships. The space city is not one that has a large military so damaged ships need to be fixed as quickly as possible.

Help out the engineers. It might be the voidtreckers know a little about repairing ships themselves but even if they don’t, extra pairs of hands are always useful.

Team Three

This city is loud, bustling and full of life. But with the battle raging outside everyone needs to stay safe. Help people get to shelters. Clear the streets and begin the evacuation, though hopefully a full evacuation won’t be needed.

Space Disco

Enemies vanquished, this city does what it apparantly does best. That is, party. The music is way too loud, different songs out of each building, people dance in the streets, lights flash far too fast. There is strange street food to try, new dances to learn and a victory to celebrate.

[Sam moves, very deliberately, out of Reno's space. As far as he can be.]

Ain't slums. They chose to live out in the middle of nowhere, outside of the cities. Not my place to fault them, I've never liked them myself.

[He shrugs at the question.]

I'm a porter.

[Said without further explanation.]

I usually keep my distance. MULEs are easy to deal with when I need to; junkheads tend to go down without much trouble and the strands keep them tied down long enough to get outta there without them chasing me. Terrorists I ignore completely, nothing good comes of tryin' to take 'em on.

Country hicks? Even worse!

[If he sounded rude just for the sake of it, well, that was Reno for you. Making fun of poor people was sort of a hobby. At times.]

So... you get all the shit jobs.

[That's what a porter did, right? Reno wasn't sure but it sounded like the kinda thing people called the dumb-ass train attendants back in Midgar. So, a lotta pointless jobs for little pay, as far as he was concerned.]

That sounds... boring. [Not that he particularly enjoyed a hard monster fight but at least he wasn't incapable of it. It was fun to beat the shit out of creatures and people sometimes!] I'd rather just take 'em out so I don't have to deal with them later. Monsters, terrorists, they're all the same. If Shinra wants rid of 'em, I get rid of 'em. Easy.

I chose to be a porter. Like I said, it's not safe for most people. Me, I've got DOOMS; means I can sense the BTs that are about when most people can't even tell when they're around. Might as well call them monsters, though they're not, not really.

[He grimaces at avoiding killing being called boring.]

Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't do that. Killing people just creates more BTs, more problems for people just trying to live day-by-day.

[Now Bridges had Reno's attention.]

DOOMs? BTs? Dude, you've peeked my interest with this crazy shit. We got monsters, too, so what's the deal with yours? Why, uh, why would that create more of them and what are they?

[bridgetothefuture]

DOOMS. Call 'em... powers, I guess. There's this stuff in the air, chiralium. Most people are highly allergic to it. Some people like me have more of an immunity, get abilities of a sort. The trade-off is apocalyptic nightmares. Had those my entire life.

[He sighs. He doesn't really like talking about it, because people are always asking him about this, even back home.]

BTs. Beached thing. The stranded dead. People can't touch 'em, causes these things called voidouts that annihilate everything within miles. All it takes is one, and a city of sixty thousand people gets wiped out.

[theturksway]

[Reno nodded along absently, totally paying attention to his words. What he said next probably sounded a little...stupid.]

Why don't you just kill the BTs? Can't let 'em hang around and wipe out entire cities. Send them back where they belong.

[bridgetothefuture]

[Sam's brows raise.]

Can't, in normal circumstances. My blood's the only thing that effects them, and hell if anyone knows why it works. Shooting hematic rounds is messy and costly. It's easier to use radar to avoid the timefall where they show up.

That's a weird way to kill the dead.

[Were there ghost and zombies and undead things in his world? Yep, there most definitely were.]

Let me guess: you don't have magic where you're from? That sucks! Ghosts and zombies are way easier to deal with when you have Cure magic on hand. Hurts them instead of healing them.

I...

[He looks so baffled right now.]

That sounds like something outta a storybook.

Like DOOM powers and stranded dead that wipe out entire populations doesn't?

It just sounds like too simple of a solution, to me. I do believe you.

[Sam is just cranky and cynical.]

Some of 'em can be a pain in the ass to fight so it's easier to hit 'em with Cure spells or dump potions on 'em. 'Cause I feel ya, yo, some of them like to put up barriers or decide they're immune to elemental attack magic.

[Fair enough. Reno can kill his already dead monsters. That's a little unfair to some others who can't.]

[Sam sighs.]

It still sounds easier to just avoid them entirely, to me.

Mm, maybe. But it doesn't get rid of the problem either.

[Or help the people. Buuuut Reno wasn't gonna admit that he would want that so.]

[bridgetothefuture]

[Sam shrugs.]

It's not like the world is recovering from this. It's kind of like putting a band-aid on something when you're missing an entire limb.

Ehh. So you don't wanna play hero, eh? Well I guess it sucks to be from your world. I couldn't sit back and let them win. That's not the way we roll back home. Can't let the world die, yo.

[Reno, you practically helped burn the world down that one time. Don't get righteous now.]

[He just. Stares at the guy for a long moment.]
