Test Drive Meme 010

Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!

3. Have much fun!

Happy testing!

Greenhouse

The newest carriage is a greenhouse.

The ceiling is a dome shape, a single metal beam runs from one end to another, mounted on this beam are large bright lights.

The aisle of grass runs down the middle, from one door to the next. Stone paths branch off around raised beds of soil. Nothing is growing yet but there are crates in which passengers can find a whole host of seeds and bulbs for various flowers.

Plenty for passengers with green fingers to do! Plant some seeds, tend to those they have planted already. Chase away people who have no idea what they are doing! Remind them they have to take the seeds out of the packet first!

If planting is a new thing then the ICP has some handy gardening tips or they can always ask their fellow Voidtreckers!

Sports Balls

For those who prefer their hobbies much more energetic then the gym's cupboard is full of balls. Balls for every sport they can imagine! The space is long and narrow which means a little bit of adapting but there is plenty of fun to be had. Start a game of football, or basket ball.

Make some new friends and get some friendly rivalry going!

Monkey Madness!

It's a strange mission to be sure but the Voidtreckers have been called to help a huge zoo tackle a problem. Every monkey enclosure has been broken open and the creatures have gotten out and into the city, where they are causing mayhem.

Team One

Though the monkeys don't pose much threat to human life they cause quite a big of damage. Team one is to try and get as many businesses and homes safe as possible. Bring things indoors, reinforce doors and windows. Warn those in the city of the incoming horde!

Team Two

Round up the monkeys! The aim is to do this without harming and luckily they have some capture devices, that can be thrown to spring straps around a creature. Bribing them is also encouraged. The city has prepared vans for the creatures to be lured or taken to. Careful though, these monkeys are cunning and mischievous and clever enough to steal the capture devices and throw them back at the Voidtreckers! Who is catching who?

Team Three

Back in the zoo there is plenty to do. First and foremost the enclosures need fixing and reinforced. Also an investigation is underway to figure out what happened and who is responsible. If DIY or investigating work is not in a passengers skill set then there are still many other animals that need fed and cleaned!

Reward time!

Soon all the monkeys are back in their proper homes and the city put back to rights! As a thank you the zoo is handing out free ice cream and a free pass to enjoy the zoo for the day.

Have fun!

Dorian Pavus | Dragon Age

[personal profile] tevinteraltus 2020-03-20 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
greenhouse;
Dorian strode down the central path of the hot house car, notebook in hand. He wasn't exactly a green thumb when it came to growing things, but his extensive reading left him with a passing knowledge of hot house growing and cultivation. The potential he saw here was two-fold: they could grow their own food, somehow become slightly less beholden to the people who'd trapped them all here, but they could also grow their own herbs, giving them much better access to healing.

It was also slightly more humid here, and warm. Comfortable. Here, at least, his tootsies weren't freezing all the time. After walking around the elevated growing pads he has a seat along one of the car's walls.

If anyone happens by, he looks up, smiling amicably. He's always in a good mood when learning and research are involved. "Good afternoon. Come to till a bit of soil, have you?"

"library";
It wasn't that Dorian was particularly disappointed in the 'library' he discovered, but he was absolutely and undeniably distraught over their lack of knowledge, and he wasn't shy about voicing his concerns.

"Oh for Maker's sake, is this what passes for knowledge here? Thesis notes and hearsay?" He heaves a sigh and shakes his head before tossing a bundle of bound notes on architecture over his shoulder where it slides across the floor of the train along the center aisle before coming to a stop. "Honestly."

wildcard;
[Dorian can actually be found anywhere on the train. He smells like sandlewood and olive oil, and is a fairly powerful mage for anyone who can sense that sort of thing. Also, if he's not actively engaged in conversation, he's likely found wherever reading.]

What is this, a library for ants??

The bundle of architectural notes slide to a stop ... right at the sneaker of Fandaniel. Honestly he hadn't expected to have his general direction assaulted by paperwork today, that sort of thing simply didn't happen regularly for the last few thousand years, and yet..

"I don't think it'll help your concerns," the Ascian says, bemused, "But I believe I saw some genuine fiction in there as well, so be advised it might not actually be ... thesis notes."

The offending paperwork at his shoe is picked up. "It might be meant for entertainment, not education. ... All of it."

What a thought. A library of just things to read for fun, not to gain anything from.

Evidently

"'Genuine' fiction, he says," Dorian chuckles, shaking his head. "Trite melodrama, most likely." Shaking his head, he makes a motion toward the squalid shelves.

"Honestly, it seems as though whoever compiled this little 'archive' did so with his eyes closed! That, or even more frightening: the belief he knew what he was doing."

The Ascian makes a wobbly, uncertain gesture. "Once I would have said the same, but then I kept encountering things as facts in other realms that in my own were pure fantasy. So I am a bit more cautious in calling anything merely melodrama for fear of it turning up on my doorstep."

This entire train was in fact a flawless example of that particular problem, and Fandaniel had yet to come to terms with it. Possibly Dorian would have similar problems.

His brow furrows a little. "If memory serves, and usually it does, a child put this together. If so, it's rather well done, I think!"

Fandaniel's standards for anyone under two centuries old were incredibly low. "...Nevertheless a little bit of meatier reading would not be remiss."

"What I mean refers to the crafted verse itself, not the tales. Poorly stated words are an insult to literature."

The man makes a fine point, of course. This was not the Fade, or anything remotely comparable. By all rights, it shouldn't exist, and yet here it was, persisting in revolution to rational thought.

"And no one's improved upon it. It could be better."

Fandaniel's smile is utterly innocent. "I'm sure nobody would mind if you were to take it upon yourself."

Clearly if this fellow had preferences the only thing to do was imply he should just take over and do what he wanted with it! "After all, libraries are best not left in the hands of children, even if they are enthusiastic and mean well."

He is not stepping up to the plate himself, no sir.

"I fully intend to." It was just the sort of pet project Dorian craved. He'd maintained the Inquisition's libraries. Why not this one as well? Besides, the idea of collecting works from various worlds was too great to ignore. It needed a proper curator.

"In everything, I've forgotten my manners." He bows slightly at the shoulders, a proper greeting. "Dorian of House Pavus, a pleasure."
