Test Drive Meme 010

Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!

Greenhouse

The newest carriage is a greenhouse.

The ceiling is a dome shape, a single metal beam runs from one end to another, mounted on this beam are large bright lights.

The aisle of grass runs down the middle, from one door to the next. Stone paths branch off around raised beds of soil. Nothing is growing yet but there are crates in which passengers can find a whole host of seeds and bulbs for various flowers.

Plenty for passengers with green fingers to do! Plant some seeds, tend to those they have planted already. Chase away people who have no idea what they are doing! Remind them they have to take the seeds out of the packet first!

If planting is a new thing then the ICP has some handy gardening tips or they can always ask their fellow Voidtreckers!

Sports Balls

For those who prefer their hobbies much more energetic then the gym's cupboard is full of balls. Balls for every sport they can imagine! The space is long and narrow which means a little bit of adapting but there is plenty of fun to be had. Start a game of football, or basket ball.

Make some new friends and get some friendly rivalry going!

Monkey Madness!

It's a strange mission to be sure but the Voidtreckers have been called to help a huge zoo tackle a problem. Every monkey enclosure has been broken open and the creatures have gotten out and into the city, where they are causing mayhem.

Team One

Though the monkeys don't pose much threat to human life they cause quite a big of damage. Team one is to try and get as many businesses and homes safe as possible. Bring things indoors, reinforce doors and windows. Warn those in the city of the incoming horde!

Team Two

Round up the monkeys! The aim is to do this without harming and luckily they have some capture devices, that can be thrown to spring straps around a creature. Bribing them is also encouraged. The city has prepared vans for the creatures to be lured or taken to. Careful though, these monkeys are cunning and mischievous and clever enough to steal the capture devices and throw them back at the Voidtreckers! Who is catching who?

Team Three

Back in the zoo there is plenty to do. First and foremost the enclosures need fixing and reinforced. Also an investigation is underway to figure out what happened and who is responsible. If DIY or investigating work is not in a passengers skill set then there are still many other animals that need fed and cleaned!

Reward time!

Soon all the monkeys are back in their proper homes and the city put back to rights! As a thank you the zoo is handing out free ice cream and a free pass to enjoy the zoo for the day.

"So I'm guessing we're at the will of the train?" Ugh...He didn't have the best memories when it came to trains. Still, he was with his friends, and Ardyn was nowhere in sight.

When Gladio mentioned the greenhouse, he smiled. "Is that why you were in the greenhouse?"

"That about sums it up. Maybe the train has a mind of it's own. Maybe there's some asshole pulling the strings. Maybe it's one of the other passengers? I've no damn idea. All I know is that it's a bad idea to go against the train." Otherwise he would have tried to break himself out a long time ago. But when several people all told him it was a bad idea, he listened.

"That was why I was there." Gladio confirmed with a nod. "I've a little patch of grass they let me use to sit and read." Or lay back on and relax.

"Geez, way to make me feel confident, Big Guy." Noct groaned. He didn't like the thought of sentient train. It gave him the willies. He shook the though out of his head before letting out a sigh.

"I'm glad you have somewhere to chill. Is there anywhere to fish?"

"Just don't attack the train. Apparently it hits back or something." Gladio had no idea, he'd never tried it. Though one day he did plan to. Though how he was going to sneak up on a train he had no idea.

"On the train? Can't say there is. There are ponds in the garden we could maybe add fish to, or pretend fish. There are enough magic uses about, maybe one can do some magic to let you fish?" Gladio really had no idea how that would work. An illusion maybe? Or maybe they could magic up some actual fish? Could the train do that itself? Maybe asking Ignis was the way to go for that.

"It hits back?" Noct gaped at him. "What the hell....?"

He sighed at the confirmation that there was no where to fish. "Well, I know I don't want to pretend. I'm not five..." He heaved another sigh. "Maybe? You know anyone with that kind of magic?"

"Don't ask me how. I've no idea. Not tried." Yet. He hadn't tried yet. But he would.

"I know a couple who can do some interesting things..." Gladio mused as one in particular popped into his mind. He wondered if she would be able to do something like that? Creating a ball of light to show off was one thing, making fish was a whole other level of wizarding that didn't understand. "Wouldn't hurt to ask."

"'Course not." He rolled his eyes. "You have more sense than that. Why would you even try to attack a train? Sounds like something I would do."

Gladio seemed to have met some interesting people. "I guess it wouldn't...but I really don't want to come off as crazy." It was a rather strange request, wasn't it? "Still, I guess it wouldn't hurt to meet these people sometime."

He couldn't help but laugh. "I wonder what magic fish would taste like!"

"Because you weren't here and someone had to be stupid on your behalf?" Gladio suggested with a grin.

"I'll introduce you to her. She's good people." He actually liked Nita. She made him laugh and was pretty impressive. Though lets face it, most things were impressive to Gladio when it came to magical abilities he didn't possess himself.

"Whatever the hell you want them to, I'd figure." Fish that tasted like apples? Why the hell not?

Noct snorted. "Hey, being reckless is my job! You trying to make me unemployed?" He grinned. "Tell me about her. She must be nice if you're talking her up."

What would he want them to taste like? "Well...I guess fish tastes best just being fish."

"Just thinking WWND and... then didn't because I'm not that dumb." Gladio laughed.

"Her name's Nita. You've probably met her, but she's really interesting. Comes from a world full of magic. She's a wizard if you'd believe that." Where they came from, wizards were things in fantasy books. Actually meeting one was utterly fascinating. Though he had to resist begging her to do magic for him. That would quickly become annoying and offensive.

"There you go. Fish that tastes like fish. That's what they'll be." Made sense to him.

"Good call, Big Guy. If the train hits back, you might not still be here!" Noct chuckled. When told the name, he shook his head. "Haven't met her. She's really a wizard? Do you think she would really help? Do I need to pay her?" That's how it worked usually? Someone asks a favor and has to pay.

"Yeah, I can't imagine fish tasting like anything else."

From what he was told, fighting against the train wasn't something he would have just been able to walk away from. Which was why if and when he did it he would do his best to clear his schedule so that he would be able to spend the rest of the week in the medical wing.

"Really a wizard. I don't know if you'd have to pay her, I've never asked her for anything before." Gladio gave a shrug and wondered about that. What would the payment be for giving Noct a little slice of happiness? He knew he would probably pay whatever she asked if she did want payment.

"Guess I better find out." Noct said, his voice light. "Even if she can't, meeting a wizard would still be kind of cool." Not as cool as meeting, say, an assassin, but he couldn't be choosy. "You'll introduce me, right?"

He was pretty sure there were a couple of those on the train as well, but the wizard was the first port of call.

"It'd be a pleasure." Gladio grinned. He'd actually indirectly mentioned Noct to her before now. So it wouldn't be too weird, he hoped.

Noct's smile softened. "Thanks Gladio." He really appreciated that his friend was trying to help Noct feel better about being on the train. "You're the best!"

"Starting to think I should get that tattoo'd somewhere." Gladio joked. Not that he would. He liked the tattoo he had and didn't need another one. At least, not something as silly as that.

Noct laughed. "People keep telling you that?" He could believe it. Gladio was great with people. "Maybe I should lay off. Don't want you to get a big head."

Gladio laughed right along with him. "Nah, just Prompto so far. And now you." But it seemed to be at least once a day Prompto had to throw that line at him, or something similar.

"Well, Prompto's not wrong." Noct said. "You two are pretty buddy-buddy now, huh?" Noct could tell they had been hanging out more.

"You could say that..." Gladio replied noncommittedly. He wasn't sure how much Prompto had told Noct or how much he would want him to admit to, so he would leave it to the blonde to drop that bombshell. If he so wished. "He's been a big help."

"Yeah?" Noct tilted his head. Gladio seemed rather avoidant on the topic, but he didn't want to prod him. "I'm glad. He's always made things lighter."

"Yeah, he does that." Maybe his smile became a little softer then, maybe it was a trick of the light. Who was to tell? Gladio laughed. "He has chocobo pj's. No one knows how."

Noct noticed Gladio's smile and his heart skipped a beat. Did he know that Gladio could smile like that. He blinked at the knowledge of Prompto's pj's before laughing. "What? Seriously?"

"Seriously." And that was saying nothing about the underwear with hearts on it. Gladio laughed again, the smile teasing now. "Ask him about it. Maybe he can get you a set."

"Why would I want chocobo pj's?" Noct laughed. "No way. I'm perfectly happy in just a t-shirt and shorts." More comfy that way.
