Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

Greenhouse

The newest carriage is a greenhouse.

The ceiling is a dome shape, a single metal beam runs from one end to another, mounted on this beam are large bright lights.

The aisle of grass runs down the middle, from one door to the next. Stone paths branch off around raised beds of soil. Nothing is growing yet but there are crates in which passengers can find a whole host of seeds and bulbs for various flowers.

Plenty for passengers with green fingers to do! Plant some seeds, tend to those they have planted already. Chase away people who have no idea what they are doing! Remind them they have to take the seeds out of the packet first!

If planting is a new thing then the ICP has some handy gardening tips or they can always ask their fellow Voidtreckers!

Sports Balls

For those who prefer their hobbies much more energetic then the gym's cupboard is full of balls. Balls for every sport they can imagine! The space is long and narrow which means a little bit of adapting but there is plenty of fun to be had. Start a game of football, or basket ball.

Make some new friends and get some friendly rivalry going!

Monkey Madness!

It's a strange mission to be sure but the Voidtreckers have been called to help a huge zoo tackle a problem. Every monkey enclosure has been broken open and the creatures have gotten out and into the city, where they are causing mayhem.

Team One

Though the monkeys don't pose much threat to human life they cause quite a big of damage. Team one is to try and get as many businesses and homes safe as possible. Bring things indoors, reinforce doors and windows. Warn those in the city of the incoming horde!

Team Two

Round up the monkeys! The aim is to do this without harming and luckily they have some capture devices, that can be thrown to spring straps around a creature. Bribing them is also encouraged. The city has prepared vans for the creatures to be lured or taken to. Careful though, these monkeys are cunning and mischievous and clever enough to steal the capture devices and throw them back at the Voidtreckers! Who is catching who?

Team Three

Back in the zoo there is plenty to do. First and foremost the enclosures need fixing and reinforced. Also an investigation is underway to figure out what happened and who is responsible. If DIY or investigating work is not in a passengers skill set then there are still many other animals that need fed and cleaned!

Reward time!

Soon all the monkeys are back in their proper homes and the city put back to rights! As a thank you the zoo is handing out free ice cream and a free pass to enjoy the zoo for the day.

"It's alright Noct." He wasn't convinced that the king was happy for him but it was just the shock of it all, that had to be the reason. Everything the other was saying sounded off but Ignis wasn't going to challenge him further. And he had to smile a little bit on the inside. The secret he'd kept from the other was obviously never picked up on going by the 'Never let yourself fall in love' comment. Ignis in fact had and hard, but he wouldn't ever reveal it.

"Engagement or not, I still took an oath to keep you safe and that is what I will do." And pain lanced through him at saying it, knowing what it could potentially cost him. But that oath made him the man that he was and win or lose, none of it would be the king's fault.

His expression softened, keeping his private worrying thoughts to himself. "They love you too you know."

"They must be great." Noct said, finally looking up at Ignis. "At least, they better be. You deserve the best." His voice was firm and sure. "Don't let me get between you and them. I won't forgive you if you do." He knew Ignis took pride in his oath, but Noct wanted to him to think more about himself for once.

He sighed softly at the comment about Prompto and Gladio. "Not like that." He said. "I know they love me. Like a brother." Even Luna...wasn't her love more familial than romantic, in the long run? "Just kinda feel like you guys are moving ahead and I'm stuck."

Ignis turned his head away, not knowing what to say. He could hear the tone the king used and knew Noctis meant what he was saying. "Your words are very kind." He could only hope that kindness was reflected. The advisor stood and his eyes locked with Noct's as the won't forgive you part came out. That unexpectedly hurt because who was he if he didn't keep his word? It was almost a reflection of the fight that shook him to his core and made him question his very existence, replaying his past as if he could change it. But in the end he wouldn't change anything, even if it was deemed wrong or abusive or subservient by another's standards. For all the plans and strategies he could come up with on the fly, this one he couldn't have calculated.

But he stoically said nothing and put his professional armor on. He couldn't reveal what he'd seen in the blonde regarding behaviour, it wasn't his place. "You have every reason to be stuck Noct. You've been through quite a lot." And fate back home wasn't even done with him, not by a long shot.

Noct flinched at Ignis' reaction. He shouldn't have said it like that. He knew how important the oath was to Ignis. "I just mean... Like... Don't neglect your fiancee to dote on me, you know? That kind of thing..."

He deflated a little, nodding. "It's been a hell of a time. I guess that's why I'm a bit blindsided. I can't just rely on Prompto to distract me from all that when he's got a boyfriend... I would feel bad getting between them."

Not dote on Noct, Ignis didn't know how to even do that. After now seventeen years of doing nothing but that, he was being asked to do something foreign. Sure it was easy not to do so when someone wasn't there, but maybe it would be easier since he'd realized how one sided things were back home. "I will see what I can do." The tone was soft but there was a forced business like quality to it. Maybe the king wanted him to let go and that..he could deal with his feelings about that alone later.

Rule, no worrying Noct.

There was a sympathetic nod at what the other had gone through but he had to say something. "I hardly believe that would be the case with them. But I'm sure all of you will find your footing with each other here. And if you'd like, we can go find them so all of you can spend time together."

Which left him out but maybe that was best.

Noct wanted to hit himself. He really wasn't saying the right things, was he? He reached out to grab the cuff of Ignis' shirt. "Still dote on me a little. I need you. I can't do any of this without you." He said in a hushed voice, holding back his emotion.

He had hoped Ignis was right, and things would go back to normal soon enough. Still, he shook his head. "It's okay. I want to be with you right now."

"Hearts." Gladio corrected as he sat himself back and lazily draped his arm across the back of the seat behind Prompto, grinning wide. "The train hates everyone but Prompto, somehow."

He watched as they both argued about who was cuter and tried his best not to laugh at the both of them. They were like night and day. But both were cute in their own, unique ways.

He'd been trying to school his emotions and hurry up to tuck them beneath his armour and then Ignis discovered Noct holding onto him. Confusion ran through him but he didn't try to pull away. There was a small wistful smile as in his mind's eye he could see the little boy he'd met all those years ago in the throne room. He'd been such an unsure little thing but oh that smile when both of those little hands took his.

"Then I shall endeavour to temper this doting of mine." He paused with a slight smile now. "And you're far stronger than you give yourself credit for, but I will always be there should you have need of me." It hurt him to say the last part but if this was what Noct wanted, the advisor would give it to him.

Seventeen years of this habit of always trying to give the king anything and everything he wanted, just to try and make him happy. And if Ignis was lucky, there might be a smile or two to see along the way.

His jaw worked with the unasked question of why Noct wanted to be with him right now. But he didn't want to upset the king by asking him. "Then that is what you'll get." the advisor replied.

Whatever Noct wanted, Ignis would give it to him.

Prompto would've answered, but he was laughing too hard at the idea of chocobo underwear to go with his pjs. His cheeks flushed a little for reasons he didn't know at Gladio saying what the pattern had been. It might have something to do with how the big guy knew.

"Wait, that's not the argument! It isn't whether you'd be cuter in this pjs than me, because.. come on, right?" He jokingly made gesture at himself. "The question is whether you'd look cute. And it's two against one so.."

His gaze shifted to Gladio. "Aren't we all cute though? I mean look at this guy? I mean there was almost a protest over the fact he is wearing whole shirts again." Prompto might have been the one who was protesting but that was beside the point.

"You're just fine," Mami promises with a smile. Oh, this was fun. She hasn't had a chance in a while. It's nice. If a little strange.

"Almost like home?"

The monkey he'd been after turned back on itself and went after the blonde guy from before. Duo, surprised by this move, turned his head in time to see the jackass who had been helping the guy had turned tail and run, leaving the blonde still trapped.

Silently he begged forgiveness from the guy as he crouched down to wait. Blonde Guy was going to be his bait for now. The monkey was focused on him after all. With that focus set, Duo was more likely to get the drop on him.

Except... He'd seen the thing Prompto had seen at the same time Prompto saw it...

A knife.

Duo cursed under his breath and silently went on the move. His feet didn't make a single sound as he lightly ran across to the other side and at an angle, needing to gain ground to get closer but afraid to get too close in case the monkey realised what was happening.

And then he caught the blondes eye. Duo grinned, and in a moment of deja vu for himself, he lifted a finger to his lips to signal the guy don't let on that he was there.

"On Earth, sure. But home? Didn't have anything like this where I was born." He'd only learned that these were a thing after he'd landed on earth. And that had only been a few years ago. So not long at all when he stopped to think about it.

"Maybe that's why I can appreciate them more." He mused idly as he dropped a hand to once again lightly touch the surface of the water and send ripples through it.

"Hey now, don't go bringing me into this." Gladio held up his other hand in a gesture of... surrender? Defence? Protest? That was it, protest. He wasn't the cute one there. Good looking? Sure, maybe. But cute? That was reserved for others. Like Prompto and Noctis.

"You two are the cute ones. I'm just an innocent bystander that gets to enjoy the view." There was a definite teasing tone to Gladio's voice that he just couldn't help. "And who, exactly, is protesting? Only you guys know about that." The arm behind Prompto moved slightly and he gently bopped the back of the blondes head and laughed. "You're the one who fixed my shirts. I figured it was only fair I wear them."

"Why do you get a pass? What makes you so special?" Prompto teases with a laugh. "No, no! If we have to know we're cute then so do you!"

He scooped out a spoonful of peanut butter to eat, but instead he sort of wagged it at Gladio for a minute instead. "Everyone! And we are not! I showed your picture off to all kinds of people." Seriously, don't make him try to remember exactly who. "Between you shirtless and chocobos, I have done my duty to spread the joy around this train!" He finally stuck the spoon in his mouth and suddenly he couldn't talk as fast, even if he tried.

"I'm older." Gladio smirked. "You should respect your elders." Again, teasing. He was only older by three years, nothing nearly enough to make a difference, but he knew it was something that would get a rise out of the two of them.

Though now he had to move and make a grab for Prompto. He wrapped an arm around him in a headlock and brought him, and spoon, into his side. "You've been doing what now?" Showing pictures of chocobo's to people was one thing. Flashing his picture around... Gladio grinned and used his other hand to ruffle the blondes already messy hair. "That and telling people I'm a cupcake?" He looked to Noct for help. "You see what I have to work with here? I get no respect!"

It certainly matched traits with what Webmind knew were expressions of amusement, so - huzzah! Humor successfully delivered!

Aaron's further explanation, though, just leaves him surprised.

"I had figured it would be the other direction, but that is several years in the future from where my Earth stands."

And how weird it felt to be saying those words! 'My' Earth; some people back home would have found those words ominous, but not him, precisely. 'Home' sounded better, in any case.

"And that is no fault of your world's either; my consciousness's inception was more accidental than a deliberate invocation of sentience."

[ In a remarkably blase tone of voice: ] Oh, you wouldn't have died! It might've hurt quite a bit if it hit you, but I'm certain you wouldn't have died. And I did warn you it was coming your way!

[ C–comforting... ]

That was an incredible dodge, though! I hardly even saw you move an inch! How did you do it?

Oh, is that so? I'd thought it would be better to give them plenty of room underneath to let their roots spread out...

I see! That's one of the animals that was causing so much trouble... it's hard to imagine! It's such a tiny thing!

[ Bryn, who is 5'2'' and the type of person who causes trouble by sitting still and doing nothing, says this without any apparent self-awareness whatsoever. ]

Are there signs somewhere, perhaps? Or an attendant who might be able to tell us what we're looking to know!

Noct watched their back and forth, not quite understanding the thing about the shirts and whatnot. But two points did stick out. One; Gladio knew what Prompto's underwear looked like and, two; they were being very touchy-feely.

"Cupcake? Underwear? What on Eos is going on with you two?"

[sonoflucis]

"I know I'm not making much sense, Iggy. But I will always need you, okay?" Noct was terrified of the thought of a world without Ignis. "Just give me some time to adjust to sharing you, okay?" He knew he couldn't be selfish, but at the same time, distancing would do nothing. His mind was just a scrambled mess at the moment.

When Ignis agreed to stay with him, he smiled. "Thanks. I just...also need some time to process that I might catch those two kissing...and I... You never judge me when I'm all messed up like this."

Gladio didn't think he was being any more, or less, touchy-feely than he had back when they were on their road trip. It was definitely not the first time he'd had Prompto in a headlock and it wasn't going to be the last if the blonde kept flashing his picture around!

"This guy..." Gladio poked Prompto's cheek with an index finger. "Told one of my cabin mates I was a cupcake. And who knows how many others." He grinned over at Noct. "Like I said. No respect."

Obviously, if you put seeds that close to the surface any passing...cow?

[She's never been to a farm in her life.]

Sure, any passing cow could eat them. You have to get them down so they're protected. Why else would they make the soil so deep?

[Samata gathers a trowel from somewhere and kinda makes the hole a few inches deeper so ALL THOSE SEEDS are now going to be a huge pain in the ass to recover for anyone who actually knows what the fuck they're doing.]

Ignis smiled only slightly. Noctis was indeed confusing the absolute hell of him though he really was touched that he was being told he was needed. "I will be here." he replied, hoping he truly would be here for the duration of the king's stay. And all he could do was give Noctis what he wanted. His mind was in a whirl about though nothing appeared on his face about the sharing bit, and again, he didn't know what to say, feeling divided. Obviously back home this wasn't an issue and it would be a thing to navigate here.

The advisor refrained from lifting a hand up to reach under Noct's chin to lift that dark head up. "You can simply tell them you're uncomfortable." Really it was adorable how Noct fussed at these small details. So gently he placed a hand on the king's shoulder. "You know I wouldn't judge you." Because really, Ignis was the one who could really be judged here.

Oh, I see! Yes, yes, I understand now. The plants won't have a chance to grow if they're gobbled up by a passing scavenger. They seem much cozier now!
