Mission Five: Screw your courage to the sticking place

On the morning of Day Seven of the month of Egret (ooc: 13th of March) the train on everyone’s Safety Control Apparatus will shimmer in multi colours looking almost like the void itself. A moment later a holo-screen will pop up with the following information.

Destination: System #7212108. This system has one inhabitable planet and is a self governing system on the edge of the territory of the ever expanding Empire of Stars. Currently they are under attack from those who wish to take their system, and planet, as their own.

They have a considerable space force, their planet is surrounded by a system of shields and their army is stationed and commanded from a military station off-world. They are currently in the middle of a prolongued siege and holding their own. But a second wormhole has been opened with reinforcements and more powerful weaponry. The threat to their lives has become considerable and they will need help if their world is to survive.

Purple Team

Help relieve and assist System#7212108's army. Specifically engage the new fleet of enemies and stop them flanking the main fighting force. Keep the second forces attention as long as possible to allow the red team to move past through the worm hole. Once the initial danger has been mitigated follow the commands of the system's military and work with them to hold the fighting on two fronts. If it becomes necessary assist the evacuation of the planet.

Orange Team

The shields surrounding the planet are their main defense and are therefore a primary target for enemy fire. Help protect and maintain the shields, repairs may be necessary. If the shields go down they must be reactivated as quickly as possible.

Protect the platforms, maintain shields from inside platforms, repair any shields that need it from the outside. Assist the technicians in their work and protect them from enemy fire.

Blue Team

The siege has taken most of the fighters away from main command. Fill in the gaps to protect the main station- both outside from enemy fighters and also inside. There is a chance their security has already been breached. Guard the main command so that they can focus on their task of leading their army.

Red Team

There is rumour of a mega weapon- something that will end all life on the planet, leaving it a fresh slate for their empire to work with. It is not sure how true that rumour is but the empire clearly have something planned. Sneak past the second force and enter the wormhole, stop the new weapon from being deployed no matter what.

Additional Notes

The system has not requested Void-Aid but it should come readily apparent to them that they require it. They should provide weapons and ships. The dressing room will be open for your use.

The mission will run from the 13th to the 26th March. I will put up a OOC information post with extra world information and team-relevant information on the 13th as well as the IC starter post which will cover them arriving on world and setting off on their assignments.

For avoidance of doubt the information in the block quote area above is the only information known IC before they arrive on the world. The information on the subsequent information post is for you as players to know what to expect and to give you the information you need for writing the mission. It is information characters will learn throughout the mission.

There will be team posts on the 15th March for the main bulk of the mission. There will be a subsequent team post on the 23rd March as missions reach their conclusion. You are free to put up your own posts on middleofsomewhere throughout the event- always make it clear what team mission you are taking part in. There will be a final conclusion post on the 26th March.

Please feel free to use this as a plotting post. Remember there is nothing forcing your character to do the task assigned to their group so if you wish to do a different one, feel free! If character decide to not do any of the tasks at all that’s fine too, just let me know! Please reply under the colour you decide to go with once you decide for definite!

Assuming the planet is run by a myriad of tech systems (since a space-saga setting conventionally implies that), are the stations and other tech compatible with a Voidtrekker that's hypothetically, I dunno, kind of tech savvy? By kind of I mean "designed to be good at this one thing" but I dunno. Just a thought. :P

I'm mainly interested in the shield controls since that's my team's task, but I won't turn down anything else worth noting.

Thoroughly random question, I know, but would it be possible for a small team to hijack one of the attacking gunships and use it against the attackers to attack the platforms?

Two questions - at least one of which may be asked in-game by Nita herself:

Is the nature of the worldgates the same as whatever powers our lovely void-train?

Can the ability to worldgate itself be shut down for the entire area around the planet, if not the whole solar system?

Edit: THIRD QUESTION (though this is probably too soon to ask about, aheh) - could the mega weapon be trapped inside a worldgate? That is, would taking the weapon itself hostage be a viable tactic if things progress far enough?

Will most of the fighting be on foot with guns, or in spaceships dog fighting? Will there be giant robots? What's the front line going to look like?

Few quick questions! One: What species will be there that an Andalite and his son might be able to aqcuire?

Two: What happens if someone would rather help out a family member on a different team than do their actual assignment?

Well I'm just gonna shoot the gun and ask questions now that we're on mission. At least I have fewer than before, haha.

The usual: what kind of things are there to steal? I'm guessing space fight related things like blasters and armor. What about light sabers fancy space blades? What kind of tools can the sneak thief pilfer? What kind of non-space-y things. Can he find any silver (anything made from silver)? And specifically: what can he take from an enemy soldier, especially if anything different/unique?

Oh, I remembered a thing. Is there any electronic tool-kit that either of my kleptos can steal? Specifically, 47 would like to look for electronic hackers or items to make them with.

I was gonna ask about the space suits but I'm gonna assume they're good for breathing in space otherwise, I realized, what would be the point. Although if there is a limit on how much oxygen is available that might be useful before I assume too much.

For Orange Team, if the station is attacked, will any of the attackers manage to land their crafts and get into the station? I guess the Void Warriors have blasters in case that happens, but does it? I mean, in the Onward Orange post.

Or are all the battles in that post going to take place out in space?

Jack is happy to help his fellow Purple Team folks with whatever they need, but his particular talents (which include not being able to die, and ability to lead a team) might lend themselves to activities outside his team if they're needed. If there's a team that thinks they might be able to use someone who can rush into a dangerous situation, talk to Jack. He might not want to do everything, but if it's to help people, he might be easily coerced.
