Kid, he'll remind you that you can be over a thousand and still be allowed to have fun because, in essence, you do what you want.

Will says that's a nice sentiment, but it doesn't work that way for him. Very long story, but the short version is that in his universe humans don't have magic but do have choice. Creatures like Will have lots of magical power, but they don't get to choose their fate. ....And his fate is to walk the world alone for the next few thousand years as the last watchman for the forces of Light.
