Congratulations! You’re now on the Void Train and no, that’s not a band name. This is, for better or worse, a new world for all of us and we’re stuck here. In order to detect patterns in these abductions, I’m conducting a survey. Please answer everything to the best of your ability. If you have any questions about the form please consult whoever is standing next to you other than me, because you should be intelligent enough to answer these very straight forward questions.

How many days in the months? Usually 30 or 31, except for February..
How many hours? Minutes? Seconds? 24 hours in a day, 60 minutes in an hour, 60 seconds in a minute.

[ It seems she's squished in some scribbled text between these lines, saying "Please don't tell anyone about the next parts.. I'm not supposed to tell anyone, but you seem really trustworthy." (Aka the resident Responsible Adult, but ssh, Madoka always puts things in a nice way.) Also yes, she was too shy to tell him that in person while handing it in, so she wrote it instead. ]

What was happening when you were taken from your time and woke up on the train platform? A really strong Witch was about to destroy everything. (A Witch is a little like a monster.) I was about to try and stop her.
What were some of the recent big events that have occurred before you woke? It's a little long to explain, but it's basically just a lot of things that lead up to that last answer..
If you had not been taken at that point in time, would you still be alive? I wasn't dying, but I was ready to give my life if it was needed to save everything, does that count..?

Technology:

What is the most advanced technological device in your world? Most advanced is so hard to choose.. I think I remember seeing something on the news about really tiny robots?
Is this train something new or are there trains like this in your world? They're in my world, although this one is a little on the old side.
Do you have trains, but not ones that go through the Void? I haven't heard of a train going through the Void before..
What is a common piece of technology you use regularly? I watch TV at home.

Magic:

Does your world use magic? Do you use magic? Is your magic based on a device/ talisman/ lineage/ race? There's magic, but most people don't know about it. I'll try to explain..

In my world there's monsters, Witches, that no one knows about, even though they hurt people. The people fighting those Witches are magical girls. If a young girl makes a contract with Kyuubey, they become a magical girl in exchange for any wish they want to make. Those magical girls can use magic to fight. I'm not sure how it works, but when you make a contract, your soul gets put into something called a Soul Gem.. Maybe that's what makes the magic work? I haven't made a contract yet myself, but I was about to.

[ She drew a little alongside it, similar to this. Probably meant as clarification. ]

Huh..? You really think so?

[ She seems a little flustered, since she's not good with compliments. ]

I mean.. o-of course, if you want to! It's nothing that special though..

[He looks at the drawing for another moment and wonders how to get it away from the rest of her survey that's confidential.]

Can you re-draw some of this? I'll hang up those instead. But yes, I think they're good.

Of course I can! [ Especially if it's a request. She's never had anyone request a drawing from her before..! ]

.. Actually, if you want, I could try to draw you too..!

[ Even though her art style is maybe a little too cutesy for that, but it sure doesn't seem to deter Madoka. ]

[Well, that was amusing.]

Sure, go for it. Let me get you another paper so we can keep your private stuff private.

[He rips a piece out of his notebook and handed it to her. He's not sure what is possessing him to do this, but he then makes a funny pose.]

[ooc- If you're actually drawing this, you can pick whatever pose you want that looks funny.]

[ Madoka takes the piece of paper, actually looking rather pleased about all of this. Truthfully, she's just glad to be able to do something for someone else in this place.. So she quickly sits down and starts drawing, looking rather focused on it. She only occasionally glances up from the paper to look at him before going back to drawing.

After a little while she finished up, holding up the drawing to him with a big smile. ]

Here! I gave you a fierce face.. so you look like a real hero of justice! [ He probably wasn't going for hero of justice with that pose, Madoka.. but she seems convinced regardless.. ] I thought it'd be fitting since you said before that you weren't going to let anything bad happen to anyone.

[He grins at the drawing she holds up. It was questionable whether there was any talent here, but he appreciates it nontheless. He still might find a way to transfer her private information so he can hang up the other picture too, but that was a future problem. The explanation that he's supposed to look like a hero of justice in the picture makes him laugh.]

That's great! Now everyone on board will have a warning when they see this picture. We're all indebted to you, sweetheart.

[Now.. how was he going to hang this up?]

What kind of stuff do you like to do? Obviously drawing, but what else?

[ That question seems to catch her by surprise, making her grow silent as she thinks for a moment. Especially now the obvious answer that would've come to her first is off the playing field already. ]

Back home I usually liked just sitting around and talking with my friends.. Or going to a cafe together.. [ But that obviously isn't much of an option here. (Or back home with the current state of things, for that matter.)

She's quiet for another moment as she tries to wreck her brain for another answer. It's surprisingly hard. ] Um.. I'm not particularly good at anything.. I guess I was part of the gardening and crafts clubs at school.

A young girl like you drinking coffee or was that more just a place to spend time together?

[They had coffee if she liked it. So they could.. sort of make a makeshift cafe.

The other remark gets him frowning.]

You're obviously someone special if you're able to do what is here on this form. I don't buy for a second you aren't particularly good at anything. We might be able to find some materials for crafts on board if you're interested. I can make glue and paint from kitchen ingredients.

Ah.. [ She seems a little surprised for a moment by everything he's saying. It's almost slightly overwhelming, but then Madoka realises he's probably just trying really hard to be accomodating.. Which is sweet. And mostly surprisingly, since she never really expects people to go out of their way for her. Hence why she needs a moment before continuing. ]

No, they had other drinks too-- Actually, I mostly went for the cake.. [ Madoka sounds kind of embarrassed to admit that. ] Mama said I should save the coffee for when I'm older.

Crafts may be a good way to spend some time, but.. um.. [ For a moment she hesitates, but then gulps a bit and continues. ] If there's something that needs to be done on the train, I wouldn't mind spending my time on that either! I'd like to be helpful..

[When she mentions cake, he laughs lightly, something very warm in his expression though not mean.]

You'd get along well with my intern, Peter then. If he ate sweets all day, every day, he'd be happy.

[He raises and eyebrow at her mentioning she wants to be a helper. He shrugs.]

You're always welcome to help out with the laundry or kitchen cleanup. Are you a morning person? They're usually short handed for breakfast.

[Since Peter usually sleeps in.]

I'm used to getting up early for school every morning, so I'm sure it shouldn't be a problem! [ That's practically the same as being a morning person, right? Not that Madoka is huge on sleeping in to begin with, but if there's a purpose she has to drag herself out of bed for, she can definitely do it.

In fact, she seems almost a bit too eager to do so. She just wants to help that badly. Please give her a purpose. ]

I'd gladly help out with the chores..!

Excellent! That's very kind of you.

[Tony grins right back, pleased he can pawn his own chores off on someone with less important things to do. He didn't see it as taking advantage of her so much as it felt like a win/win. She felt good to be helping and he felt good because he didn't have to.]

If you like cake, there are brownies in the kitchen I believe.

[ Definitely win-win there.. until someone else finds out and blows their fuse, but ssh. Until then Madoka just seems super happy to be able to do something, so she sure isn't complaining.

Especially when he says the next things. It's like her eyes light up at the very mention of brownies. ]

There are? [ She hadn't checked for herself yet, since it's not like Madoka is the type to take food selfishly.. ] Are those for everyone? Can anyone just take one?

[ If there's anything she could use after the odd situation she's been thrown into by this whole train thing happening, it's something sweet. ]

[The way her face lights up makes him laugh. It's not at her in the least, but someone who watches a kitten do something cute and just can't help themselves.]

Of course. I think someone ate all of the candied pecans, but there were plenty of brownies. If not, let me know and I'll see about getting some new ones for you.

[Yeah 'someone' ate all the pecans and 'someone' was going to make more brownies if they're gone. Yep. Stop looking at him.]

If you find a kid named Peter, tell him I said he is supposed to give you a piece of his candy too.

[He gives her a wink. He was the king of the train and he knew it.]

[ Madoka doesn't seem offended by the laughing in the slightest, anyway. It's probably since she's too polite to assume it's anything but laughing with her to begin with, but.. in this case the distraction of the thought of brownies is definitely part of it too. She's already imagining the taste. ]

Supposed to? [ That makes her snap out of her brownies fantasy for a moment though, instead blinking up at Tony. ] Ah.. No, it's alright! If it's his candy, then I'm sure he wants to eat it.. He doesn't have to share at all!

[ God forbid Madoka ever take anything away from someone, she couldn't handle it. ]

I'll just find my own candy eventually, I'm sure..!

[He smirks, knowing she wouldn't really have taken him up on that suggestion.]

It was a roundabout way of saying, he's a good kid if you need anything. He's my intern back home. But if he can't help or if you need me, my door's always open to you, kid. Okay?

Oh.. [ She smiles slightly awkwardly at having taken it so directly, but at least the awkwardness quickly fades out of her expression a moment later.

Then she nods. ]

I understand. Thank you so much for being so kind and helpful.. And for telling me where the brownies are. [ Listen, that's just very important, okay. ] Then I'll get going now.

[Clearly his humor wasn't translating well, but that didn't matter too much. He thought he was funny and that was really his only audience. This time he speaks in Japanese.]
