Congratulations! You’re now on the Void Train and no, that’s not a band name. This is, for better or worse, a new world for all of us and we’re stuck here. In order to detect patterns in these abductions, I’m conducting a survey. Please answer everything to the best of your ability. If you have any questions about the form please consult whoever is standing next to you other than me, because you should be intelligent enough to answer these very straight forward questions.

[Sometime on day twenty three a pale young man approaches with two questionaires in his hands. He still is very confused, but it clear at least that this is not earth. It is not his own world either. He has no idea where they were, despite reading the information given.]

Chronology:

What species are you? Kirin
What’s your birthday/ years you’ve been alive? 17th January. 1978 in earth years. 22nd year of Wagen. I am eighteen.
How many years is the average lifespan of your particular species? Our natural lifespan is thirty years. But once we find our ruler we live until they lose the way- I'm sorry, it's complicated. But we can live for hundreds of years really.
Year you’re from: Eighth year of Koushi. I believe it is 1996 on earth.
How many months in your world’s calendar? 12
How many days in the months? Around 30.
How many hours? Minutes? Seconds? 24 hours in a day, sixty minutes in an hour, sixty seconds in a minute.
What was happening when you were taken from your time and woke up on the train platform?
What were some of the recent big events that have occurred before you woke?
If you had not been taken at that point in time, would you still be alive? I don't know.


Technology:


What is the most advanced technological device in your world? My world is not very technologically advanced at all, a printing press perhaps? Earth is more so. I am not sure what to call the most technological device there. But they have computers, space ships, nuclear reactors.
Is this train something new or are there trains like this in your world? A train like this is new.
Do you have trains, but not ones that go through the Void? On earth yes. Not on my world.
What is a common piece of technology you use regularly? I don't think anything would count.

[He gives the young man a smile when he comes in to hand in his questionnaire. Although he looks puzzled when he sees there are two of them.]

[He sits, gratefully. His legs are trembling, this excursion out of bed had been needed but he was probably pushing too far. Still. It's not like they had any choice. He had to recover as quickly as possible.]

Yes. He would have come himself, but he is still recovering from a battle on our world. [As much as he hates to admit his king was injured to someone who might use that information against them, it wasn't like it was a secret and Lord Gyousou would probably not be happy if Taiki let someone believe him rude by not coming himself.]

Recovering? Are either of you in need of healing? If it makes you feel any better, I showed up here recovering from a battle too. I won't be judging or thinking any less of you or 'The Imperial Tai'.

Lady Wen has been helping us. She is very skilled. [Even if it was clear the people of her own world were different physically than Lord Gyousou.

Knowing this man had been in battle, being injured. It didn't make him feel better. It made him feel worse and his face softened.]

Good.. would you allow me to also mention you and your friend to Ignis? He's the leader of the blue team and a skilled healer. He won't interfere with what Lady Wen is doing but just help.

[Or interfere, he really shouldn't promise anything.

And that might not have been the best angle to go with to convince this young man to accept his aid.]

That- thank you. I was more meaning I understood and not to let pride keep you from accepting help. But you might be a brighter individual than I am. Anyway..

[He glanced over his questionnaire again.]

Our missions are to save worlds who need it. I'm not the one commanding people fight or participate in them. It's your choice to remain on the train in those events.

[He was going to judge them severely, but he won't do anything to force them.]

Um... If he wants. We don't want to trouble anyone. [It's not pride. Not really. Just wariness and being in a strange place far from everything they knew.

His eyes flickered at that. Save worlds that needed. He would never want to leave anyone in danger. But that did not change the fact they should not be here. In being here their own land was in grave danger.]

Who commands people?

[There had been a lot going on lately, so he wasn't sure what Ignis would have time for but he'd relay the message. The next question was much harder.

Just make yourself comfortable, Tony has a lot to say.]

That's not an easy thing to answer here. I was among the first to arrive here. It was a group of about twelve of us just like when you arrived on a platform and the train. Only difference was there was no one on the train already. We have been talked to a couple times by someone through announcements like you heard when you were warned about us entering the Void. The majority of the time we're left to our own devices but then we're also sent on these missions. We get the objectives and the instructions from that same unknown entity who we've conveniently called the 'conductor'.

I first questioned these missions but so far they've all turned out to be desperate people in need. So gradually we created a governing system for ourselves and other systems to help us here. I'm the head of our train council and I'm the leader of the red team. I 'command' but only to a point, if that makes sense.

[Twelve to start and an empty train. That sounded altogether very concerning. No driver or commander to be seen. Only objectives and instructions from an unknown entity.

But all the missions were people in desperate need. He nodded.] I understand. [A leader, but one who had been chosen by the others here, rather than one who had brought them here in the first place.] The other teams have leaders as well?

[It had been very disturbing, he assures you.]

Yes. The blue team has Ignis Scentia, the orange Curufin, one of the elves, the purple has three for.. some reason, Dread, Sarai, and Luke, and our newly formed black team has Yuffie.

As team red, we often get chosen to take on the hardest element of battle. We're all warriors in our own way. Are you skilled with any particular weapon?

[He will try and remember all those names. He hadn't seen any one in black clothes but Tony did said that team was new, so perhaps it was smaller?

He pales though at Tony's words, looking very uncomfortable. The hardest element of battle, all warriors. Why was he in this team?]

No.

[He shook his head slowly.] I'm sorry. I'm not going to be any use to you.

[He's still recovering from bloodsickness, even the thought of battle makes him nauseous.]

[His eyebrows rise in surprise at that reaction. The fellow looked like someone with a weak stomach with a partially dissected frog in front of him.]

You mean battle-wise? There are other ways to assist than that if that's what you're uncomfortable with. Talk to me.

I'm not... I can't fight. [Can't fight, won't fight. Why, if this red team were all warriors would he be there. He's glad he's in the same group as Gyousou, he wouldn't want to leave him. Wouldn't want Gyousou to face battle alone. But he's not going to be any use.

He doesn't want to fight, his stomach twists with the thought. He would, of course, if Gyousou asked it of him. But he doesn't even want to think about his king ordering him to battle.

He's trembling and he has to stop. He can't do this in front of this man. He had thought he could push past his nature, to take up a sword in defence of his king. He was trying not to think of what he had done.

And it hadn't even worked. That was the worst part. Because now they were here.] I... I'm sorry.

[He gives the young man an odd look. He didn't know what to make of this weakness and the fact he was in red but..]

No one is going to force you. You're welcome to make up for it with extra chores around here if you feel so obliged.

[He looks down at the scrutiny, feeling guilty but also a relief at the words. He is still confused at how this has happened, why they are here and who is forcing them to fight but he is glad that Tony won't force him.

You should introduce yourself to Peter Parker. He shares some of your philosophies and is a good kid to have on your side. Just a point of advice there for you.
