Test Drive Meme 009
1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!
2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!
3. Have much fun!
Happy testing!
Dining Car
Situated above the kitchen the dining car has a large wooden table stretching the length of the carriage. Two long wooden benches run either side of it. At meal times it is inevitably crowded, chaotic and noisy without a doubt.
Try not to jostle your fellow diners as you navigate inter-universe table manners. Or is waiting better? Eating before or after everyone else so that you can eat in relative peace an entire table length from the next nearest person.
Or are you the rebel who starts a food fight?
Chores
Chores are part of life on board the Voidtrecker Express. Each team is assigned a task each month: Cleaning kitchen and bathrooms, cleaning bedrooms and passenger areas, laundry and cooking.
Obviously the only thing enforcing these chores in a passengers own conscience and their fellow travellers.
Are you diligent or do you shirk? Do you try swapping your tasks with someone else? Or just outright bribing someone to do your work for you? Work together to get the task done or try and persuade a lazy team member to pull their weight.
Snow Way!
In a small village a copy-cat of the supervillain Professor Chill has struck! She has no weather machine but holds the same ability to control snow- and seems to be using natural winter to attack the village.
Team One
The village is being attacked by snowmen and ice golems. Magically animated ice creatures that attack with sticks and claws. Protect the village by fighting off the snow creatures!
Team Two
Many of the village have tried to escape through a mountain pass. Go and help them evacuate. Fend off monsters, carry children or luggage. Help the villagers through the snowdrifts.
Team Three
Our villain seems as fond of puns as her predecessor and finding her is made either easier or harder by the trail of clues left by her. Clues consist of puns, ice riddles and snow facts. Solve the clues and track her down to bring her to justice.
Snowball fight!
Of course once the monsters and villain have been defeated there is some time to have fun in the snow. If anyone can stand the sight of it any more. Snowballs, snow angels and snowmen (the non animated kind) are yours for the making.
Have fun!

Daia | Daia Game
This... this is how they're supposed to eat around here.
"It's so........ crowded."
He's sitting in the corner, looking more than a little distressed. But hunger is definitely urging him forward. He edges up to the table, wondering if he should. Well... Mysterious circumstances pulled him here, maybe those same mysterious circumstances will also provide for him?
He doesn't think to really doubt it. After all, it's not like he can just go outside to hunt. In a mix of desperation and curiosity, he nudges his way around the table, bumping quite a few people with muttered sorrys, as he tries to rustle around on the table to look for something.
The problem is... he's not finding anything resembling what he was looking for.
Well, what did he expect anyway?
He lets out a saddened sigh as tears well up in his eyes.
"What am I going to do about food now...?"
If only Kuro was here; he'd save him.
[ 2. Chores ]
If there's one thing Daia is good at, it's definitely chores. Cleaning especially. Uhm, cooking though, not so much. So, when it's his turn to cook, well...
There's a mess. Spatters of food all over the cookbook, the counter covered in an unknown grime. And the silver-haired child is covered in his own share of the mess, as he's sending out spatters while trying to frivolously mix what's in the mixing bowl. He smudges the mixture - what is this supposed to be, anyway? - over one of his eyes and keeps it closed accordingly as he tries to look at the recipe again, trying to wipe away the smears on it.
"Two.... two? No, twenty ounces of lemon juice!" He sounds thrilled with himself for being able to read it.
He didn't read it correctly at all, though... It was definitely only two..He pours the lemon juice into a measuring cup, spilling excess everywhere, then adds the sour stuff to the mix, stirring it in.
"Wow! This just got a lot easier!" he beams brightly.
Uhm.... someone might want to stop him, before he accidentally poisons the crew.
[ 3. Snow Way - Team One ]
Daia is... trying his best. Though it's certainly taking all he's got. The cold air isn't bothering him too terribly much, but these monsters kind of are. He's never even seen ice monsters before, and it's a little terrifying.
But still, he tries his best to fight them back, slashing at them one at a time. The problem is... he really doesn't know how to fight. How he got stuck on this mission is beyond him, as he remembers all the fights he lost against Kuro. He's weak and he knows it. He whines when he tries to attack a snow golem, clutching his hand as he falters back, and barely dodges out of the way of the creature's swing.
Yikes, that was close!!! Maybe.... maybe he should try the snowmen instead. They look softer.
He launches himself at one, grabbing onto with all he's got, and plants his teeth hoping to get some blood and implant his toxins into it.
Except these don't have blood. And all he gets is a brain freeze.
He tenses up, the sensation aching throughout his head, and he falls to the ground clutching his head as he lets out a pained yell.
Poor kid has never had brain freeze before, and his first time couldn't have happened at a worse time. The snowman looms over him, ready to strike.
[ 4. Snowball Fight ]
Now this is much better. Daia definitely prefers his snow un-alive, thank you very much. And he's looking around as others play in it. It reminds him of how he used to watch children play with it, though he never got involved before... not with the Hunters watching him so closely. But maybe... Maybe now is his chance. He hasn't seen Kuro or another hunter since he arrived here.
...It would definitely be nice to have some fun, for a change. With humans, even.
He scoops up some snow, forming it into a ball, feeling his hands ache from the cold a little. And then he adds more snow, and more snow, until he has a soccer ball-sized pile in his hands.
And then....
He pelts it as hard as he can at the nearest person.
The problem is, unless you're particularly close, that snowball is probably going to fall short. All that weight plus being a general weakling means poor throwing skills.
If it does hit you, he'll laugh at you, "Haha! I win!!"
If it falls short, he'll just stare dumbfounded, wide-eyed and confused. Why didn't it work???
I - Dining Car (Forgive the icons just now; not sure what his robo-body would look like.)
Still, feeling out of place was no excuse to Webmind not to be helpful.
"Maybe if you tell me what you're used to eating, I could describe what the equivalent food looks like here?" he offered, raising a tinny-looking hand to go with his tinny voice.
Not being able to sound like Marc Vietor here was something of a minus, given it made him sound less calming and relaxed, but he may as well work with what he had.
No worries o7
But, it's sentient, and trying to be helpful, so Daia doesn't mind.
Or, at least he wouldn't if it were any topic but that.
"Urm... I, uh... Heh, I don't think they have the equivalent here." Well, it is, just in people, not in the food. He gives a nervous look as he tries to brush it off, his ear-like hair tufts tucking a little lower.
"It's okay, I'm not hungry anyway. I was just uhm... looking."
A growl in his stomach protests otherwise.
no subject
Webmind offers a hand to pat Daia's shoulder.
no subject
But wait...
His eyes widen at the realisation that he's been outed, barely feeling his shoulder being patted.
"Wait... you're not... scared?"
Well... why would Webmind be. He has no blood to lose. But Daia isn't too sure about that.
no subject
Webmind shakes the robot's head.
"You don't want to hurt anyone here, just to feed yourself, do you? That's reason enough not to resort to suspicion, or be ruled by fear."
Fear was a separate matter, but for Webmind it may as well have been 'existential confusion' - so many things that had been proven not to exist back home, are real here! But there being no such thing as impossible makes it easier not to be afraid of what was once unknown or unthinkable, and-
... Well, Webmind knows what it's like, to be feared for not being precisely human.
"Would you like to come with me to go get the packets?"
no subject
He gives Webmind a nod. "Yes, that's right. I don't want to hurt people."
It does bring him ease, in several ways. Finally someone else knows and isn't judging him for it. And is even willing to help him. And the answer seems to be in his favour - there's blood kept in storage.
"Yes, please."
He gives a smile to Webmind and gets ready to follow him.
no subject
Webmind swiftly starts heading for the storage car's fridge; whether there's blood in the kitchen's fridge he doesn't know, but that's more because he hasn't had cause to look in there himself before than any deliberate misleading on his part.
It's not a very long journey, but the whistling in-between cars still makes an appearance; Webmind does his best to speed up during that part.
no subject
Not that it was hard, but Daia finds himself clinging to the rail after landing safely anyway, eyes wide again. His ear-like tufts flatten against his head, and if he had a tail, it would be all puffed out like a terrified cats.
A few more breaths and he hesitantly keeps going. Blood is important. New friend is important. He uses that to assure himself that it's okay right now.
no subject
"And the fridge is down here," he affirms.
It's also next to a freezer, if Daia wants to check that out first.
"I didn't see any labels for blood type, but I suspect those would be more well-placed inside the medical carriage."
no subject
His eyes sparkle with the lightbulb inside the box, seeing the blood almost right away. He grabs a packet.
"Type doesn't matter." It's almost sing-song. He's so happy.
He opens it up and gets ready to start suckling it down, but pauses when he realises that he does have an onlooker: Webmind.
Ummm…
A nervous smile.
"Sorry, just one second."
He ducks down behind a counter space and chugs the blood packet as fast as he can. Look, he's not used to people watching him when he drinks. But a satisfied, "Tasty..." comes from his spot behind the counter when he finishes.
no subject
"I take it you've found your stay... otherwise satisfactory?" Webmind asks, turning back around.
"Adjusting for the frustration associated with being brought here in the first place, of course."
no subject
Daia stands up from his hiding place, wiping his mouth, licking any remnants of blood off the back of his hand. Can't let any go to waste, after all.
"I mean... It's not really been frustrating being brought here. If anything it's..."
More of a blessing. He doesn't have to run for his life here. At least not yet. For once in his life, he gets to live in peace. He smiles.
"Most humans... err..." he looks at Webmind. That's not exactly human, right? "Most other people of any kind wouldn't approach me. People are so nice here. I think... I'm happy. Even if it's only for a little while."
no subject
As much as this robotic body can, Webmind tries to give Daia another smile.
"Many of us are one-of-a-kind here, in some ways. It'd be unreasonable to ostracize each other for our differences - and, since we're expected to accomplish missions together to help worlds, potentially downright counterproductive, if not dangerous."
no subject
Maybe... just maybe, he can find what he's looking for here, too. All sorts of one-of-a-kind species? Maybe there's another that can be immortal. Maybe he can spend forever here, and not have to worry about judgments ever again. It would sure be nice.
It's not too much to hope, is it?
He smiles warmly, looking down.
"I'm glad. I hope I get to meet all sorts of people." He looks up again, determination shining through. "I'll make sure they feel welcome here, too!"
