Welcome to the Voidtrecker. This is, for better or worse, a new world for all of us and we’re stuck here. In order to detect patterns in these abductions, get important safety information, and other important details for living in this community I’m conducting a survey. Please answer everything to the best of your ability. If you have any questions about the form please consult whoever is standing next to you other than me, because you should be intelligent enough to answer these very straight forward questions.

All information presented here will be kept strictly confidential and the purpose is to collect data.

What were some of the recent big events that have occurred before you woke?
Oh, for most people life is perfectly ordinary, but there are witches invisible to most that induce people into thinking scary thoughts. If the witch brings a human into their labyrinth, they'll most likely die.
If you had not been taken at that point in time, would you still be alive?
As I said, no.


Technology:


What is the most advanced technological device in your world?
We have flexible glass phones.

Yes, we have trains.

As far as I know they don't go anywhere special, so no.

Magic:


Does your world use magic? Do you use magic? Is your magic based on a device/ talisman/ lineage/ race?
Most people from my world don't use magic, but there is hidden magic all around them. There are terrifying creatures called witches. They hide in the shadows, and most people can't see them. They curse the world, whispering into peoples' ears and preying on their insecurities. Wouldn't it be better if they gave up, the witch whispers? The people the witch curses fall into a trance and wander into her labyrinth, where she emerges from her shell and kills them.

I'm what's called a magical girl. There's a small white being, almost cat-like, called Kyubey, who looks for girls with the potential. He found me when I'd been in a terrible car accident with my parents...I was the only one still conscious. He told me that he could make any wish come true if I agreed to become a magical girl and fight witches, so I wished to keep living.

My old teacup. I used to take a sip after battle.

Miss Kaname. She's been here quite a while, hasn't she.


Skills


What special skills do you have, particularly fighting or military skills?
As a magical girl I can summon and fire a large number of rifles. Each only has one bullet, so my aim needs to be precise, but I've had plenty of practice. I can switch to ribbons if we need to tie someone up, create a bridge.

I can create temporary devices other than rifles with my ribbons when I fully understand their internal mechanics, but it hasn't been easy to learn! And what I make doesn't last long, so I'm afraid I can't arm the troops.
Are there any chores on the list you'd be willing to do if someone else finds their assigned chores particularly disdainful? Or can you be bribed to do both?
I'll do whatever I must to help keep the community running, but cooking is my specialty.

I need you to understand that I'm only giving you this because Miss Kaname trusts you. If you truly care for her as a daughter...I need you to understand what could have happened to her. My fate is sealed, but hers doesn't have to be.

[When she comes into the office/ workshop/ lab (he keeps changing his mind on the name), he lowers the book he was reading and gives her a friendly smile. After offering her a seat, he looks over her questionnaire and is surprised to see it's so similar to what Mady has told him.

The note at the bottom has him looking up at her.]

Alright, you have my attention, Mami. What do I need to know to keep her safe?

This is Kyubey. As far as I know, she can't become a magical girl unless Kyubey appears and makes a contract with her.

[ She takes a page and draws him in the corner---it's a cute and cuddly looking critter. ]

He wants Madoka to make the contract, because she would be the strongest magical girl ever. I work hard, but I'm nothing compared to what she could be. I can feel it too.

And I believed. I wanted her to be my partner. I thought we'd be invincible together, and happy. I was tired of fighting alone...but I failed her, and I see now how much it hurt her. I had no living family or friends, no one who would remember me but those two, so my disappearance won't make waves. But Madoka is so loved.

Being a magical girl isn't for girls like her. She has so much to live for. I don't know why I'm still here...but if I can send her back safe, that's what I intend to do.

[Tony listens carefully as Mami explains the situation. It was immediately his desire to keep Madoka safe from everything Mami was talking about- especially this witch who had killed her.]

What happens to your world if she doesn't? What of this witch? Are there others who can stand up to her?

Madoka lived for some time after I died, so I can only assume Miss Akemi saved her. Miss Akemi is another magical girl...she's a transfer student who declared we were enemies, because she couldn't allow Madoka to make a contract.

[ She draws another picture of Homura ]

I wonder now if she knew things that I didn't.

Do you believe that Miss Akemi is capable of handling this witch?

[He knew he was biased, but he might prefer this Akemi girl if she'd known to leave Madoka alone. However, that wasn't necessarily fair.]

I never witnessed her in battle for long enough to say. But Madoka told me more about what happened to her after my death...and I believe her when she says Miss Akemi is strong and will be all right.

[ She's as calm as can be, though it's hard. ]

I understand why I failed her before. I allowed emotion to cloud my judgment in battle. For however long this lasts, I'll do everything I can to avoid repeating that mistake. For her, and for my new teammates.
