Test Drive Meme 007

Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!

3. Have much fun!

Happy testing!

Void Trecking

The thing about being on a train hurtling through void space is there’s not much to see. Outside the window lies an endless void of kaleidoscope colours shifting and swirling. It’s probably best not to stare at it too long. Do so and you might start to imagine order in it. Shapes, places, even figures. But your eyes shift... Back to chaos. Probably best you do something else other than stare out the window. Or convince your fellow passengers that void watching leads to headaches!

Board Games

The game carriage is full of games. Every board game imaginable from silly party games to serious strategy games that last for hours. There are a disproportionate amount of games about trains.

Grab some friends, grab a game and some beanbags and get playing! Dive into a world of deck building or play a silly card game. A great way to alleviate boredom.

Happy Holidays

You have arrived in a place which might remind you of Victoria London if Victoria London had floating palaces and was ruled by wizards.

Their rule is strict and any kind of Winter celebration is banned. You have been called by a group of rebels to help with an underground celebration.

Team One

Distraction. Be out in the city, keep watch. If the guards get anywhere near the secret entrances distract them. Perhaps by being a lost tourist. Perhaps by causing mayhem. Make sure the organisers and party goers can arrive without a hitch.

Team Two

A party is not complete without food. The party is being held underground and there isn't much in the way of kitchens and do help bake in people's houses and smuggle the food across the city. Careful of guards.

Team Three

The venue needs decorating and the presents need wrapped. It might be an underground bunker but everyone is determined to make it the best festival ever, despite the risks. Help make it happen!

Party

Of course after all that hard work there is time to celebrate before you must board the train once more.

Eat drink and be merry!

Padmé Amidala | Star Wars

[personal profile] democratically 2019-12-18 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
[Void Trecking]
Space travel isn't unfamiliar to Padmé, but this manner? This is. She has explored the train a little, up and down the hallways, but has come now to take a seat. There is a focused look on her face, eyes trained out in to the expanse beyond, as if it will tell her something. She may well be staring out the window for some time, the sight both familiar, and yet not, before she does finally break away. She blinks, several moment, forehead furrowed, before leaning back.

Perhaps you are passing by, perhaps you have seated yourself nearby when she was lost in the void, but she offers a polite smile. "It's a bit hypnotizing, isn't it?"

[Garden]
Greenspace. Padmé has always loved greenscape. Coruscant had had a few such places, but it was nothing at all like Naboo. Rich green rolling grasses. Crystal clear blue lakes. A temperate atmosphere, it is an idealic place. The garden here... is different. It is pretty, in it's own way, but not at all like her homeworld. Still, she does find herself sitting there, eyes half closed, listening to the bubbling music of the water.

If another does arrive, and doesn't give off the impression of wanting to be left alone, Padmé gives a nod. "Not exactly the garden I might have expected... But no doubt it would be hard to have large trees, or even acres of sprawling fields or waterfalls."

[Happy Holidays ; Team Two]
Padmé might look a little different than usual, although that is because of the bag of goods that are hidden beneath her cape. She does do a good job at hiding it, and as she rounds a corner, she slides up to the person there. Padmé has always been someone to help others, and even in this completely foreign place, that desire to aid doesn't change. "Have the guards passed yet, or do I need to wait?"

"No, I imagine not."

The voice that comes in response is soft, but the body it comes from is not. February is an 8 foot tall woman made of stone, with amethyst crystals sprouting out of her broken face.

"I think I like it, though. It is... peaceful, in a way that many places on this vessel are not."

It does seem to offer a variety of different locations, like it's own little universe. Little, of course, is the key word, as no matter how long or large the train might be, it is still smaller than an actual planet. Or at least any that Padmé has ever been on.

Whether she is surprised by the other's appearance, it is hard to tell. She can't recall ever coming across a being such as her, but the universe is expansive, and Padmé has barely even seen one little corner. She is petite in return, barely over five feet tall, although her presence has always loomed larger.

"More organic in a setting where you don't expect it." She comments, shifting ever so to give more focus to the other. It's that polite interest on her face, wondering as she always does. Are all her people like that? "I'm Padmé Amidala."

"I am called February."

She doesn't really have a 'people' in the way that Padme understands it - nothing resembling an organized society. But there are other earth elementals and none of them look very much like February at all - she is something of an oddity.

She returns Padme's look with a polite smile of her own.

"Every other car on this train has a purpose. For training, or reading, or eating or sleeping. It is nice to have someplace that exists to just... Be."

Had she been born on another planet, far far away, she might have had some recognition of the name, but to Padmé, it is a name as any other, and one that she stores away. It won't be hard to place a name with a face, given her appearance, unless there were others here as well that looked similar.

"Have you been here long?" Assuming that she isn't actually a part of this train in some manner. Padmé hasn't really ascertained whether there are those who actually work on the train and live on it as their home. She would find that hard to believe, although if they are content with that, who is she to say anything about it?

"No. I was brought to this place just a short time ago."

She was part of the newest group of arrivals, much like Padme. February couldn't have been on the train for more than a day at this point.

It may be nothing like the futuristic cities or the halls of the senate that Padme is used to, but February was kind of unprepared for the amount of people in this train. It feels almost claustrophobic - and being as big as she is, it's hard for her to feel as though she isn't in someone's way.

So it shouldn't come as a surprise that she's found her way to the garden car. It's the most open and peaceful of all the carriages of the Void Trecker.

"Am I right in assuming that you are new as well?"

Understanding dawns on her face, realizing that she must have arrived at the same time as her. Padmé had been occupied with her own introduction to this place, confused. After all, she had been on her way with Anakin to help Obi-Wan, and then not.

"You are right in that assumption." There is a wry hint to her voice. The hustle and bustle are familiar to her, as the Senate is a very large place, but it is the scenery that has changed here. Drastically, in some cases, but a large population remains on Coruscant, coming and going. "I probably arrived at the same time as you. The last stop?"

"Yes, that is correct."

They must have just missed each other. Understandable, given the fact that they had just both been displaced and made to board a strange train that drifts from world to world. It's a lot to take in.

"Tell me, what do you think of this vessel? Do you believe we were really brought here because we are heroes?"
democratically: (picnic confused)

[personal profile] democratically 2019-12-22 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
Heroes. It is clear that she is thinking about that answer, her forehead furrowing in thought as she draws in a breath. Padmé has never considered herself one. She has always just done the right thing, stood up for what she believes in, helped those who need help.

"I honestly do not know. There- there are others I would call a hero, but I don't know if I would use that title for myself." A good person? Padmé would like to think that she was, that she could make the world a better place in her life.
lostface: Art by gelicarrotcake on Twitter (Disappointed)

[personal profile] lostface 2019-12-22 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
"It seems strange to me as well."

February definitely doesn't consider herself a hero. Not in the traditional sense of the word.

Not that she's opposed to heroics, but she hasn't really done a lot to position herself as a dimension-traveling hero. She could certainly think of others who would be much more fitting of that title.

"Perhaps we were sought for our skill sets? Whoever brought us to this place has a specific task in mind for us, that we are suited to?"

That... Doesn't really make her feel better about this situation, but it seems plausible to her.

For some reason the woman staring out into the void grabbed Telli's attention and she couldn't help feeling like she knew her from somewhere. She wracked her mind, trying to place the face (normally she was so good at this), but it was escaping her at the moment.

She moves closer to get a better look, trying to be subtle, but knows she was spotted when the other woman spoke.

"It is. Somehow it's so similar, yet so different from the travel I'm used to."
democratically: (supper listen)

[personal profile] democratically 2019-12-18 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh? And what manner of travel are you used to?" Space travel, would be her guess, although perhaps a certain vessel? She does look like a Twi'lek, but in this place, she doesn't know.

There are a wide variety of different species here and it doesn't necessarily mean that she comes from the same galaxy that Padmé knows. She had been surprised to discover just how many individuals were here, and that not all are aware of anything involving where she is from.

"I've spent the last few months on a light freighter with friends, traveling from world to world."

Telli turned to face the other woman fully and leaned against the side of the carriage, shifting her weight off her 'bad' leg at the same time. She kept her cane in hand, toying with it idly as she continued.

"Before that though I'd been stationary for a few years."
democratically: (convos)

[personal profile] democratically 2019-12-22 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
"You transport cargo then?" Which typically was what those with a freighter did, but one never knew. It was always better to ask than to assume and be a fool. She hadn't had too much experience with them, as she tended towards using her ship, which was quicker. Although she had been known to take the slower vessel as well, especially when she was in disguise.

"On your homeworld, or were you stationed somewhere?" A polite interest was all it was, as Padmé wouldn't press if she wasn't willing to share the information.

“We do a bit of everything, depending on what is needed.” She knew there was a strong possibility the other woman would assume she was a smuggler with that answer, which wasn’t exactly untrue, and it was true to a certain extent. She just hadn’t actually smuggled anything in quite a few years.

“Neither, I’m not military for obvious reasons and I’ve no home world I wish to claim. The first group I was with had a,” she paused slightly as she worked out how to refer to Qi’ra’s coupe before she continued. “A change in management. I left with a friend and we settled on Naboo for a while before we met our current employer. Mercy was recruited as a pilot and I stay as far away from the cockpit as I can.”

As she spoke of Mercy her tone grew fond and she continued with a hint of laughter coloring her voice, “Apparently I can’t be trusted to navigate through empty space.”

Padmé didn't automatically go to the worst of a situation. It is a rather wishy-washy answer, although if pressed, would she explain further? So long as she wasn't doing something nefarious or cruel, as Padmé was against such acts that she would deem to be illegal. But she did also know of those who enjoyed space travel, and would take odd jobs here and there to pay for it.

She did perk at the mention of Naboo. They didn't have a large populace of travelers. It wasn't like they were super close to Coruscant. Close enough, but the planet didn't exactly have the same draw as the jewel of the Republic. It was pretty, so Padmé would say, moderate in temperature, and very lush and green, with plenty of water over the planet. "It sounds like you have seen a fair bit of space. Naboo and Coruscant tend to be my destinations, although there are times when I visit others."
shockinglycaffeinated: (The rise and fall)

[personal profile] shockinglycaffeinated 2019-12-25 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
That sense of familiarity increased at the mention of Naboo, but she still couldn't quite place the other woman. She wasn't one of the people Telli and Mercy had stolen from, that much she knew. Perhaps she'd seen her in the markets?

"You spend time on Naboo? I've found it's rare for people to have visited, which is a shame. It's a beautiful planet." Travel into Naboo was highly regulated due to it being the Emperor's homeworld and most weren't able to pass the background checks required to visit the planet. She and Mercy had only managed to get on planet due to a very good smuggler and Telli's liberal use of the Force.

Garden | Excuse me while I slide in here and flail

[personal profile] faithfulson 2019-12-18 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
The garden car had quickly become one of Luke's favorite places; a place to get away from the busier areas of the train and relax, even meditate by the water. He felt drawn to it the same way he felt drawn to all places that green, like he was looking for a half remembered dream, showcasing a place with rolling green grasses and crystal clear blue lakes.

Today was different; today it felt almost like the Force was poking him toward it, silently whispering and encouraging that this was where he needed to be with all the insistence of a child in a candy shop. He shook his head as he made his way through, trying to understand just what was so important, but the Force, as always, just could not make things obvious. He was struggling against his frustration with it, half tempted to just shout at the open air for the Force to just spit out what it wanted already...

...when he saw her.

Luke stopped dead, all his frustration draining out of him, along with most of the color from his face. He had seen her so many times, in old holos that he managed to scrape up that weren't heavily redacted or deemed unsafe for the public. He thought of his favorite, a treasured copy of her speech against the budget bill that would supply more clones for the war effort; it was the one that moved him the most, that kept him going in the middle of the Empire, despite how all the odds seemed to continuously stack against him.

She turned toward him and spoke, and Luke felt his words clog up in his throat. The holo made her timeless, but seeing her there, in the flesh, shook him so hard that he could feel his heart aching. There was so much he wanted to say, the emotions clear as day on his face, but he couldn't get anything out.

hello son who is not even a twinkle in my eye...

[personal profile] democratically 2019-12-19 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Padmé was no stranger to, well, strangers. Her path had often led her in to a variety of scenarios, including a young queen standing before the senate, demanding action for Naboo. She had made a ripple that day, one that had echoed, and when she had stepped in to the role of a senator for her planet, people had remembered that.

Yet the manner in which he had drawn up to stare at her was seemingly different. It had been a casual statement, not one that should have caused a great stir by any means. She allowed a polite moment, although her eyebrows started to furrow down. He almost... reminded her of someone, not that Padmé could put her finger on it right at that moment.

It was almost recognition, if Padmé were to give it a name, although she couldn't say that he was someone that she recalled meeting. Maybe she just reminded him of someone? It was hard to tell as she leaned forward a little, eyes expressive, inquisitive, searching. "Sorry. Am I disturbing you?"
faithfulson: (Controlling myself...)

hello mom. Sorry, having a crisis.

[personal profile] faithfulson 2019-12-19 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Luke wanted to reach out, to touch her, but he was afraid she would just ripple like a hologram. It was the kind of cruel trap the Emperor would lay out for him, given the opportunity, and while he wasn't suspicious by nature, he still didn't know -- or perhaps remember -- enough of the train to know it wouldn't do the same. Thankfully, her concerned words were able to drag him out of his stunned stupor, and he shook his head, swallowing hard as he stood a little straighter.

"No, not at all," he replied. "Forgive me, ma'am, you just... reminded me of someone."

He needed to tell her; it was the least he could do. Hell, he wanted to jump to the roof of the train and shout that his mother was here and alive, but that all seemed so impossible at the moment.

It was something that she couldn't read, some emotion there that wasn't clicking in to place. She would keep it, store it, ponder it over later to see if she could bring any more pieces of the puzzle in to view. For the time being, Padmé simply shuffled, patting the spot next to her, as he looked like he should sit. "Here. Have a seat."

She didn't mind sharing the space. There were many aspects to Padmé, personas that she had built up for various purposes. The queen had been the more formal, sticking to the traditions of Naboo. It hadn't worked too well for her when she had first entered in to the Senate, and she had needed to soften those harder edges to let people in to see who she was and what she stood for. But, she had always been for helping or aiding, even if it meant just offering a place to sit. "I'm Padmé Amidala. I just arrived not too long ago."

Oh, hi future friend!!

[personal profile] notapprovedtrash 2019-12-19 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
BD-1 loves the garden. There's a lot to explore, places for the small droid to climb and scan. And Cal is in here a lot to meditate, so obviously the droid was here, too. Cal wasn't meditating today. He was meeting Renee later in the game car so for now, the Jedi Knight was just passing time.

He hears what Padme says and smiles a bit, still taken aback at the idea that this lady was a senator when he was still a new Padawan on Bracca.

"Some of the trees look like ones from Kashyyyk. Thankfully, I don't think they'll get that big, but it's nice to see something familiar. I heard someone say they wanted to start a garden to add to our own food stores. That should be fun to see." He pauses for a moment, listening to the beeps and trills from BD-1.

"We're not going to be late. We have half an hour, BD. It's fine."

[personal profile] democratically 2019-12-19 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"I've never been to Kashyyyk," Padmé admits, her focus sharpening a little further on the individual. It is clear that he must be someone that is familiar with the universe that she is from, unless he has only heard stories of that planet. "A garden would be nice, although I don't have much of a green thumb."

Her 'artistic skills' had always been in words. Her mother may have wanted something musical, but it simply wasn't to be. She does glance down at the droid, a small smile coming to her lips.

"It's a pleasure to meet you. And you as well. I promise not to allow you to be late." Directed to the droid, as Padmé does have a liking for them.

"I was there a few days before I showed up here. It's beautiful." Never mind the fact that there were Storm Troopers everywhere. Or that when he first landed there, there'd been a massive battle going on. But the untouched parts of Kashyyyk? Amazing.

BD-1 beeps and whoops out his thanks, settling carefully on Cal's shoulder.

"Neither do I, but I think with the help of a few others, I can probably create an irrigation and drainage system. No one wants me touching the plants, though."

[personal profile] democratically 2019-12-22 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
It brings a hint of a smile to her lips. She had heard that about the planet, and that its inhabitants were fierce warriors. She had seen some in the Senate, as they had their own representative, but she couldn't say that she had had any encounters with them. She had had her own committees that she joined. "No doubt that would have been a stark difference, arriving here."

Green and lush, although she had heard that it is trees and not pastures that cover the planet.

"No? Not a gardener?" But the warmth remains in her voice. "I can certainly help pick items, and have harvested back home, but I fear I would either over-water, or under-water..."
