Test Drive Meme 006
1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!
2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!
3. Have much fun!
Happy testing!
Void Trecking
The thing about being on a train hurtling through void space is there’s not much to see. Outside the window lies an endless void of kaleidoscope colours shifting and swirling. It’s probably best not to stare at it too long. Do so and you might start to imagine order in it. Shapes, places, even figures. But your eyes shift... Back to chaos. Probably best you do something else other than stare out the window. Or convince your fellow passengers that void watching leads to headaches!
Relaxing
The newest carriage to be added to the Voidtrecker Express is a rock garden. In a glass domed carriage, flickering with the light of the void the rock garden is a peaceful and medative space, full of mosaics, a pond, fountains and small stony bridges.
It's also the closest to an outside space you have and so is likely to be used for less than peacful activities. Splash in the rivers, race around the paths. Or try and relax on a bench and read amongst the chaos.
Goblin Town
Goblins riding wolves, everyone's favourite foe. The wolves fly, obviously and the goblins fight with short spears, almost like knights on horseback if the knights were terrifying and demonic looking. They are causing trouble by harassing a small village.
Team One
Fight the goblins. A handful of weapons have been provided but mostly you need to try and outsmart the goblins. They can come from any direction, including up. Try and keep the village safe from their attacks.
Team Two
Protect the villagers, help them barricade their houses. Deal with any goblins that get through team one's defences. Some of the villagers want to help and that's alright, some of the villagers want to help and are still in single digits, that's probably less alright. Keep everyone safe!
Team Three
The thing with sieges is, some things still need to happen. People still need to eat. Babies need fed and looked after. Animals need tended. Try and help with the logistics of everything in the heart of the village, as far away from the fighting as possible.
Pick a team, go wild!
;; bb bro loves big bro too
Wei Ying steps back half a dozen paces and claims a seat on a boulder before raising the flute to his lips and starts to play. He doesn't play the song Lan Zhan composed for him (that would be tempting any punishment that might already be headed his way too far!) but another song. One meant to sooth and bring peace to mind and spirit.
And, as boasted, only someone who knows that song very well might hear any imperfection.
;; /smoosh
When the song ends, he opens hie eyes and gives him a smile in the place of applause.
"You did not lie."
/SMOOOOOSH
"I never lie!"
<3
"That is a good practice." his blue eye sparkles warmly, "May I tell Kano of you? You could practice together. He has his harp."
no subject
Wei Ying sits up a bit more properly, playful mirth written all over his face. Darkness has touched him, but he's clawed his way out of it. With help. And reminders. "Mm! I would be glad to play with him."
no subject
"Occasionally." his face heats, "I am not the best audience, but we could include my second brother. He can applaud for both of us."
no subject
The blush isn't teased about and he waves the claim to not being the best of audience away. "You're doing just fine. But I would like to still meet your second brother. Family is important."
no subject
"I think perhaps my mother wished for a daughter and was denied seven times." his lips twitch, amused, "She is a sculptor and my father is a craftsman of great renown."
no subject
But. Staring and gaping is rude, and he likes Maedhros already. So. Pulling himself together is go! Wei Ying turns the gape to a wry and still rather awed smile. And...a bit wistful.
"It is good that you have so many relatives with you here. And that your family is large, though hopefully a happy one?" Please. At least one family be happy?
no subject
"We care for one another." and that is all that matters in the end, "If you need allies or help, you are welcome to call on any of us. Myself, Kano, Curufin and our father Fëanor."
no subject
He solemnly bows once more, though doesn't stand. "You can call on me and my husband, Lan Wangji, if you need help too. I haven't used a sword in a while, but Wangji has his sword." And he hopes telling this new friend that he's a cut-sleeve doesn't ruin everything. He doesn't think so, but...he knows better than to believe everyone thinks the way he does. That the person matters more than who they bond with.
no subject
He is drawn out of his thoughts at that word. Husband. Curufin had hinted that he had attractions of that persuasion and it intrigues him. But he is Fëanor's eldest. He should wed a strong lady and have sons and daughters of his own. That is the job of the firstborn. Truthfully, the idea doesn't bother him. If he found the right lady...
But there is a problem. Maedhros gave his heart to someone a long time ago - even though they could never be together.
"Forgive me..." he must ask, "Your home allows...supports...such unions?" his brow is furrowed, "I would be honored to give you lessons with the sword. You need to know how to defend yourself."
Their new circumstances demand it.
no subject
That isn't condemnation he hears. Perhaps...curiosity? It still lets him breath a bit easier, glad he'd judged Maedhros right. Though his smile now is wry as he rests both elbows on bent knees, flute held loosely. "Supported...? Not exactly. But it doesn't matter what other people think so long as they don't go after Lan Zhan."
...But now he frowns, not liking the sound of that. "Aah...I know how. I just use other methods to fight." But he doesn't resort back to his usual cheerful smile. He winces a bit instead. "It's just..." No. He sighs and straightens, sitting upright completely properly. Maedhros deserves to know.
"My way of fighting is more what has condemned me than being Lan Zhan's partner. He doesn't like me using it because of the price it demands." He looks down at his flute again. "I'd show you...but I haven't seen any dead here."
no subject
What they might have had. And the bond makes it difficult for either of them to ever consider settling down. Of course that decision was taken from them by death and Silmarils.
"You are very brave." he murmurs, his tone nothing but genuinely awed, "What is it?"
Concern replaces the awe and he waits, motionless, not wanting to spook the man into silence.
"The dead...?" a chill climbs his spine and he forces himself to breathe in. Just once.
"One sits before you." technically.
no subject
His smile is fleeting at being told he's brave, but he doesn't respond to it. He studies Maedhros quietly for a moment, listening with all his senses before slowly shaking his head.
"...You are not one I can control. Not in terms of influencing to fight for me, or leave." He raises his flute up a bit, though doesn't bring it up to play. "I play a few specific songs, and corpses come do my bidding."
Did he dare...? Of course he does. He is Wei Wuxian. There's a ghost of his usual cheer, it doesn't reach his eyes. "And technically this body you see before you isn't my original. It was sacrificed to me for revenge. I had no choice in the matter."
no subject
"You could ask me to fight for you and I might." he knows that is a different matter, yet he is the sort that will act as a shield for those who need him, "I see. That cannot be an easy power to accept."
Maedhros winces and he pales. "You are not to blame. My body is...as it was...before I leapt."
no subject
His smile grows again, softly though and he again shakes his head. "It's better this way. A lot of things were left undone when I fell." But. Leapt. The smile grows concerned. "...It is still yours. Your spirit knows it, and it knows your spirit."
no subject
"I would rather you not control it at all." if he is being frank. But he is an Elf - a being of Light. Of course he feels that way.
"Now you can right them?" he tilts his head and looks away, "My kind...can Fade. I was in the process of Fading before I leapt into the chasm. Our shells...our flesh...can no longer contain our souls."
no subject
"Ah?" He blinks, then chuckles quietly, letting his head hang down a bit. But he lets it go. Maedhros is just being kind, and he appreciates it.
"Lan Zhan and I did," he nods instead. "We didn't leave until it was all settled." And the truth came out. His brow furrows when Maedhros mentions and explains Fading. His hands itch to see if a song will help, fingers clenching around the flute before he forces the grip to loosen. "It must have been horrible," he eventually says, voice quiet. "Are you feeling better, here?"
no subject
"Good." he nods, approving of that part at least, "Second chances should not be wasted." for they are not given often. Maedhros pushes back a strand of bright hair that is tickling his eyelashes, not noticing Wei Ying's struggle.
"Mm yes." what other way can he describe it? "My brother suffers from it and that is how we lost our father." he suppresses a shiver, "...it helps...to have them again. And to remember what is important."
no subject
Maedhros just might not approve of how far they'd gone in settling things. "Same with loyalty." He gives in enough to start twirling the flute, giving hands and fingers something to do.
"...Are...you all dead?" This train is certainly something different and unknown. But he can't afford to get his hopes up. With a few dead but returned...He forces himself to breathe. "Make new memories."
no subject
"Kano...is not. But he is Fading." he frowns, suddenly stubborn, "I will halt the progress." with love and good food, "Life became difficult for him after he lost me. He was utterly alone."
no subject
Wei Ying frowns in worry. It doesn't matter he hasn't met this brother of Maedhros', no one deserves that fate. And he can't help the shiver and glance down at the mention of being utterly alone. He knows that feeling far too well. A deep breath, centering himself, he draws himself back up and looks at Maedhros seriously. "If I can help, I would like to. And if we can get, or have made, a guqin for Lan Zhan, I am sure he would be willing to help too."
