Test Drive Meme 006
1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!
2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!
3. Have much fun!
Happy testing!
Void Trecking
The thing about being on a train hurtling through void space is there’s not much to see. Outside the window lies an endless void of kaleidoscope colours shifting and swirling. It’s probably best not to stare at it too long. Do so and you might start to imagine order in it. Shapes, places, even figures. But your eyes shift... Back to chaos. Probably best you do something else other than stare out the window. Or convince your fellow passengers that void watching leads to headaches!
Relaxing
The newest carriage to be added to the Voidtrecker Express is a rock garden. In a glass domed carriage, flickering with the light of the void the rock garden is a peaceful and medative space, full of mosaics, a pond, fountains and small stony bridges.
It's also the closest to an outside space you have and so is likely to be used for less than peacful activities. Splash in the rivers, race around the paths. Or try and relax on a bench and read amongst the chaos.
Goblin Town
Goblins riding wolves, everyone's favourite foe. The wolves fly, obviously and the goblins fight with short spears, almost like knights on horseback if the knights were terrifying and demonic looking. They are causing trouble by harassing a small village.
Team One
Fight the goblins. A handful of weapons have been provided but mostly you need to try and outsmart the goblins. They can come from any direction, including up. Try and keep the village safe from their attacks.
Team Two
Protect the villagers, help them barricade their houses. Deal with any goblins that get through team one's defences. Some of the villagers want to help and that's alright, some of the villagers want to help and are still in single digits, that's probably less alright. Keep everyone safe!
Team Three
The thing with sieges is, some things still need to happen. People still need to eat. Babies need fed and looked after. Animals need tended. Try and help with the logistics of everything in the heart of the village, as far away from the fighting as possible.
Pick a team, go wild!

47 opted to simply answer the question instead of asking any of his own however. "I'm fond of playing offensively rather than defensively. But either action works." A small pause. "Did you need anything?"

It's probably for the best that Dio's brand of vampirism doesn't really take the biting track at all, so it's not exactly obvious what he's doing to the creature he has his fingers sunk into unless one is closely paying attention. Maybe it's just a magic spell!!
"If you and those assigned to your team could ... occasionally herd something in my direction I would be grateful." Extremely grateful. The creatures weren't COMPLETELY stupid by his estimations, and were no longer divebombing his position. What is he supposed to do without targets! "Of course, minding the safety of the locals is also important. It is why we are here, after all."
Frankly Dio doesn't really look or sound like that last part is very important to him.

His voice was mostly flat as well, devoid of all but the slightest inflection whenever he spoke. "It must be hard," the hitman replied and if it wasn't for the blandness of his tone it might have almost come off sarcastically.
He was paying close attention. Attention to detail was part of his game, after all. He had eyes like a hawk. Whenever he wasn't staring intently at a target they tended to roam, taking everything in and analyzing it, weighing his options. Right now he was focused on the man to whom he was speaking. There was something interesting here.
"It could be...mutually beneficial to lure the enemies this way. I'll see what I can do."
no subject
But at least it seems that things might get more interesting, if 47 is willing to work with him! That will definitely help. The goblin's struggles cease. It looks rather like a dried out mummy now, wasted away to nothing but shriveled skin and bone. It's dropped onto the roof to slide away like an unwanted empty cup. "Wonderful news. Perhaps with a little more cooperation and coordination we can get this invasion wrapped up and see about executing the leaders sending them here."
It is after all the only way this will ever TRULY cease.

There was a wasted moment for a comment about the shriveled up goblin that passed as 47's eyes followed the husk's discard. Curious about it though he was, the job, be it as it may, was more important and his attention snapped back to the pre-existing conversation instead.
"A sound plan. It would seem more beneficial than waiting out this siege," the hitman replied. He would volunteer in a heartbeat to go do reconnaissance for just such a measure. Hell, in his world he would have already gone off to do that and assassinate the troublesome people in charge all in one fell swoop.
no subject
Why not? "If you've the skill, it would be advantageous if you were able to locate such a being. If it is well defended, then with knowledge of its position and preparations, it can be disposed of." If not by 47 himself, then a focused group of killers set to just that purpose!
Of course it means not doing the whole first-line-of-defense thing. "I, Dio," the vampire adds generously after a moment, "Will take your place in the battle until your return, if such an idea intrigues you."
no subject
"A generous offer." There was not a flicker of a smirk on the hitman's face. That would be ludicrous. "I could manage to find that information for you." He wouldn't boast either but 'it would be simple' does come to mind.

Dio steps off the roof, landing easily on the ground a moment later without those normal concerns for things like gravity, glancing in the direction the wolves had first come from.
"Before you set out.. have you laid any other surprises here or there that might be wise to know of?" Not that such traps could hurt HIM for long but that didn't mean Dio was going to avoid using them on other things in the meantime..
This might be a lot of faith to place in a human, but 47 doesn't seem like he's falsely confident. The lack of bragging suggested competence.
no subject
"Only one left," he answered. Had he been in a modern setting he could have done more, he thought, but with the limited supplies and time available he hadn't gotten much more than a few simple traps laid. He inclined his head in the direction of another building. "Mind the entrance to that one."
no subject
Thankfully he has a Stand for that. Invisible power does have its benefits! "I will see what I might be able to lure into it and see what it does." The fun way! Maybe it'll explode! No probably not, explosions would require more time than they've had, surely. But blades, tripwires and sudden falling debris wasn't out of the realm of possibility.
"I should be easy to locate, should these leaders be too much for one man to handle." His smile is brief and jagged. "If it is too much for two, I am fairly certain I saw a green man flying about shooting lasers from his hands."
Well, not quite lasers, but Dio really has no idea what the hell that was beyond potentially useful.
no subject
The hitman raised an eyebrow. "Sounds...interesting." Honestly, he wasn't certain what to make of that one. While he was beginning to realize that not everyone fell under the roof of 'normal' around here that still didn't make some of the strange things any less strange when he ran into them for the first time. Had he been anyone he might have had a stronger reaction. Alas.
"I'll see what I can do." And there was no time like the present. Unless Dio had any last words for him, 47 was ready to get to the new mission.
the hard part is, /are/ there leaders. it's a tdm. we don't know.
"It is something to envy, flight. A trick I've never mastered." And he's going to continue to TRY, thank you, but it may be beyond the reach of even a vampire. Lasers too. He turns his gaze skyward, hunting for that particular shape, but it's not currently in the vicinity.
Honestly, 47 is probably one of the normalest non-villagers for miles.
But for now, their paths are set. Dio stretches like someone waking up from a nap, and turns to head in the direction of the most screaming, a little bounce to his step that hadn't been there before. Something to do! "Good luck. I'll be waiting." Just. Over there. Where the violence is.
that is a bit of a dilemna. we'll just make it up as we go
It occurred to 47 as he was leaving that it would been greatly beneficial if they had some sort of communicator that worked outside of the train. If he was lucky he could find a set of walkie talkies or something on one of these fieldtrips. Until he supposed he would just have to backtrack to communicate. A serious design flaw in this whole ordeal if one asked him.
About an hour later the hitman returned. He looked no worse for the wear. 47 threw a spear at a hapless goblin focused on what was before him instead of behind and thus made his entrance over its dead body. He helped 'clean up' the remaining foes from this wave of enemies before seeking Dio out.
I vote at least one leader, Goblin Slayer style.
Communicators happen to more organized rescue setups! This really isn't, it's almost as if they were just tossed there because they happened to be going by at the time.
But it seems that Dio has lied a bit. He's gone from the immediate area. Sure in his defense now he was in an offensive role, not a guardian one, and that meant actively hunting things down, but he's ... somewhat easily distracted, on occasion.
The alleyway trap has long since gone off, much to the unfortunate happenstance of a goblin or two.
FINDING Dio however isn't all that hard, he's the only one currently accompanied by ... a really hideous, ghoulish amalgamation of wolf and goblin, as if someone had torn them apart and simply put them back together in the most 'interesting' way possible, and using the resultant monstrosity to slaughter its fellows. It's getting most of the attention, which leaves Dio free to pick off anything he pleases. Somehow he isn't soaked in blood.
There's quite a few mangled creatures about. Not all of them are actually dead yet. But at least he's paying attention, because as soon as 47 is in the vicinity, he's going to get a suspiciously cheerful wave. Welcome back!
I still need to watch that! also yes, I was thinking similarly.
Had he been a normal person he might have been grateful that his handler wasn't around to see what he was seeing for once. He doubted she would have been very happy about it.
In the end though 47 simply chose to ignore everything but his goal in sight and stepped carefully around the carnage to get to Dio. Just because he didn't have his usual expensive suit and shoes didn't mean he wanted to get any of that on him. He also didn't want any of the dying grasping at him. He didn't waste time on finish any of them off though as he could tell they would all die eventually anyway.
He nodded at Dio as he approached. "I found what you're looking for."
It gets graphic about the women abuse in parts, be warned.
Ghouls are convenient like that.
"Wonderful!" And he truly does sound and look as pleased as he ever gets. This is good news! Getting rid of the leaders means getting rid of the need to stay here, and somewhere with hot showers. 47's fastidiousness is noted; he's going to have to be a bit more careful about splash range. It's just courtesy. "What is the target, and its obvious resources?"
He's just.. going to presume if 47 could get there and back while still looking rather clean and uninjured, then 47 is a professional and knows what the hell he's doing. Humans can definitely be competent, and if this one wasn't, he'd be dead. Which means the hitman's judgment of the situation is going to be trustworthy!
I've heard this warning once or twice, I'll def keep it in mind & watch carefully! ty.
Stealth assassin power activated! Well, in other words 47 didn't go for the kill because it was very crowded over there and he lacks any proper gear at the moment. He explains that in sort wording as well, describing a few of the more pertinent details of guards and routes that he noticed while on the prowl as well. He describes the camp as well which basically amounts to just that: a large, mostly haphazard set of tents and small buildings sprung up like a warring tribes mobile command base. The only part of it more organized being the middle portion where the chief was set up to command. 47 noted the stupidity behind it with little veiled cynicism over the poor structure.
"If there was anything else of note I didn't manage to come across it." Maybe he should have spent more time there. He had considered the idea of donning a disguise. It would have only worked from afar, however, due to the fact that he was human and could only do so much to appear to blend into a camp full of monsters. Plus, the wolves roaming about with smart noses made it extra difficult to get by. Well, at least he got what he did.
