Test Drive Meme 006

Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!

3. Have much fun!

Happy testing!

Void Trecking

The thing about being on a train hurtling through void space is there’s not much to see. Outside the window lies an endless void of kaleidoscope colours shifting and swirling. It’s probably best not to stare at it too long. Do so and you might start to imagine order in it. Shapes, places, even figures. But your eyes shift... Back to chaos. Probably best you do something else other than stare out the window. Or convince your fellow passengers that void watching leads to headaches!

Relaxing

The newest carriage to be added to the Voidtrecker Express is a rock garden. In a glass domed carriage, flickering with the light of the void the rock garden is a peaceful and medative space, full of mosaics, a pond, fountains and small stony bridges.

It's also the closest to an outside space you have and so is likely to be used for less than peacful activities. Splash in the rivers, race around the paths. Or try and relax on a bench and read amongst the chaos.

Goblin Town

Goblins riding wolves, everyone's favourite foe. The wolves fly, obviously and the goblins fight with short spears, almost like knights on horseback if the knights were terrifying and demonic looking. They are causing trouble by harassing a small village.

Team One

Fight the goblins. A handful of weapons have been provided but mostly you need to try and outsmart the goblins. They can come from any direction, including up. Try and keep the village safe from their attacks.

Team Two

Protect the villagers, help them barricade their houses. Deal with any goblins that get through team one's defences. Some of the villagers want to help and that's alright, some of the villagers want to help and are still in single digits, that's probably less alright. Keep everyone safe!

Team Three

The thing with sieges is, some things still need to happen. People still need to eat. Babies need fed and looked after. Animals need tended. Try and help with the logistics of everything in the heart of the village, as far away from the fighting as possible.

Pick a team, go wild!

Relaxing

It was the most likely place to find the green-skinned humanoid once he had settled into the whole 'living on a train' business. It wasn't his first, second, or third choice he would have made in regular life but when there was no other option it came down to the only thing available--and this was it. A rock garden was better than no nature at all. It was peaceful enough here, too, at least on a good day. He could get used to it. Maybe.

Piccolo sat crossed legged near one of the streams, eyes closed. He was meditating. In front of him floated a few of the pebbles found in the carriage, turning slowly in the air. It was a mental exercise, and considering the train didn't particularly care for his more robust training styles (although at least it didn't take damage from his high energy beams and blasts, it was also kind of frustrating that it didn't too) this was his training style of choice these days. It meant he wouldn't hurt anyone that got too close at least.

Goblin Town, Team Two

These goblins and wolves were starting to get on Piccolo's nerves. They weren't particularly strong or even hard to take down for someone like the Namekian, but they seemed to be never ending. Or very determined to take this town as every time it seemed like they'd taken out the last of them, another half a dozen would come storming in. Piccolo couldn't tell anymore if it was the same thirty goblins regrouping and attacking over and over again or if their numbers were just actually high enough to send out more and more of them. Either way, they were getting annoying.

Piccolo stopped going on the attack at some point and began helping with the defenses. He didn't know how long this would last or if it would always been never-ending--even after the train left--so the least they could do was to help fortify the place while here. He was strong enough to lift tons of metal and wooden pieces to make said fortifications, too, so it was easy work for him.

Whenever a wolf or goblin rider managed to make it through the outer warriors, Piccolo sent them packing with a punch or two, or a quick blast of energy that singed their rough fur.

Unknown to Piccolo he had a watcher. She liked this carriage, the rocks and the water were peaceful even if she didn't like being completely surrounded by void. As if there was nothing between her and the swirling colours.

Piccolo was an interesting person to watch. Not just because he looked like a monster. He had magic, that was obvious. She was watching him now from behind a fountain as he meditated, watching the rocks turn in the air.

She's still and quiet but not completely hidden. She doesn't think she has to be. She can run fast if he gets annoyed.

Being watched silently from away was less annoying and more...perplexing. Unless the little girl was shielding her energy somehow, Piccolo could just feel her presence on the outskirts of his perception. He tried to keep aware of most of the train's residence if and when he could, attempting to familiarize himself with the new allies he was stuck with on this unanticipated ride. It seemed the intelligent thing to do.

When she didn't move for a long time, Piccolo decided there was no harm and no foul in letting her do as she pleased. He wasn't disturbed and he had no reason to go out of his way while he was busy. If she wanted to come to him that was up to her.

It was obvious that he knew she was there so after a little while she emerged. She was good at being still and silent and she could have watched all day but she didn't think he was really a threat and she as curious. There was only so much you could learn watching floating rocks after all.

"Hello." She remembered her manners as she moved out of hiding, still a little distance away. "Can I be coming closer?"

The rocks settled into a pyramid-like structure. A second later Piccolo opened his eyes and looked in her direction. For a kid, she was awfully polite. He liked that.

"Something you want?" Well. It wasn't a 'no'.
knifewithnoname: (yes okay)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2019-11-18 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"No." She shook her head, "I did just be watching. You do be meditating, right?"

Like Luke had been. It's different than praying, though it is sort of the same. She continued to watch the rocks, they were still now. But they might move again.
shutupnail: (more grumpy than evil.)

[personal profile] shutupnail 2019-11-19 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Piccolo took a moment to contemplate how old the kid was; her grammar was either due to age or picked up from someone with poor speaking skills. He wasn't sure which but he also supposed it didn't really matter. It was just something noticeable.

He nodded. "Yeah, I was meditating."
knifewithnoname: (yes okay)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2019-11-19 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
She nodded, "You did be moving rocks as well, did that be being part of your meditation?"

She would assume so, he had powers that was for certain and she figured the rock moving must be part of the meditation. Perhaps it was some sort of practice, though moving rocks was a simple thing.

[personal profile] shutupnail 2019-11-19 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"What makes you so sure that was of my doing?" Piccolo asked, curious for her reasoning. She wasn't wrong of course but he wanted to hear her side of things. Even from his universe there weren't as many people capable of such abilities as there were that couldn't perform them. Sometimes he was annoyed by people that found it surprising that he had such abilities.
knifewithnoname: (yes okay)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2019-11-20 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
"You do be being the only person in the carriage. I do be supposing it could be being someone somewhere else on the train but it would be being a strange thing for them to be doing."

She tilted her head at him. "As far as I have been seeing the rocks here do no be having magic. I did no never be hearing of magic rocks before but I did no be hearing of many things." And yet had come face to face with them.
shutupnail: (more grumpy than evil.)

[personal profile] shutupnail 2019-11-20 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
"So you think I'm some sort of magician?" he asked with a small self deprecating smirk. "Hmph. Well, I suppose it would be weird if someone else were doing it from afar and if you're aware of magic it seems more likely than floating rocks..."

Piccolo lifted a hand and turned his claws towards the rocks as if he were going to reach out and grab one. He didn't, of course, but the gesture was obvious. And after a moment the rocks lifted into the air. They kept in place, not moving for the moment, but just hovering.

"It's not really what I would call magic though. At least not in my world. Though some magic users can use spells to achieve the same outcome." Or just have telekinesis as well as magic, kind of like Piccolo himself actually. He just never considers his magic. He's not well trained in it.
knifewithnoname: (yes okay)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2019-11-24 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
"If that do be being what you do be calling magic users, yes." Magician was not a word she knew. But she can hear the similarity with magic in it, it made sense. She watched as he moved the rocks again, floating them into the air.

"What would you be calling it, if not magic?"

She really needed to write all the words people used down. It would be useful.
shutupnail: (crossed arms.)

[personal profile] shutupnail 2019-11-24 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes." Although he could think of several words to call magic users. Namekians even had their own title for it.

He watched her out of the corner of his eye, gaze actually focused on the rocks in front of him. "Telekinesis, I suppose. I use it as a mental exercise, which in turn strengthens my use of ki. Ki manipulation is the key to a true warrior's combat strength."
knifewithnoname: (listening)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2019-11-24 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Telekinesis." She repeated the word. A mental exercise that strengthened the part of him that was his strength.

"You do be being a warrior?" She's aware the term means fighter, more generally than the Warriors of her world. But she still is impressed.
shutupnail: (smirk.)

[personal profile] shutupnail 2019-11-24 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes," he replied with a hint of pride in his tone. This was clearly something he cared about. "I am considered one of the strongest warriors in my world."
knifewithnoname: (listening to you)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2019-11-25 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
"You did be being?" Well that was impressive? His whole world? He must be very powerful and very skilled.

Was going to hit up relaxing, but saw you had a hit for that so...Goblin Town it is!

Honestly this felt like something from a bad Video Game. Which was not high on Raven's list of things to do for fun. Still, this is what they were 'helping' with this time and she found herself flitting between teams 1 and 2.

Not that she wasn't good at it--helping repel Goblins, or repair and fortify were easy with her powers. She was also a healer, and with light teleporting, able to move quickly from position to position.

The green guy--alien? although she didn't want to presume; almost seemed able to handle things solo just fine. But Raven wanted to check on him anyways, as even solo-fighters sometimes needed back up or another set of eyes. Especially as she teleported over, watching him lifting metal bars easily as villagers were waiting to secure them in place against wooden fortifications.

Reaching out a hand, mantra intoned softly under her breath and hand out as dark energy moved to hold the bars in place so they could be secured. It would free up the other voidtrecker to bring more over and the work would get done faster before the siege continued.

The lightened load took Piccolo by surprise. It's not that he wasn't aware there was someone else of significant energy levels around him but that he wasn't expecting the telekinesis to suddenly take hold of his burden. He looked around and spotted the dark haired girl. Her energy was pretty obvious even when she wasn't lit up by the expenditure. He noted, however, that it was mostly magical energy. A lot stronger than he was used to from most magic users. Interesting.

Mentally, he shrugged it off for now and just made a note to ask later. Physically, he saw the opportunity for what it was and moved off to grab another load while the hardier villagers secured the barriers in place. This would make this a lot quicker, which was good as Piccolo suspected another wave of enemies were likely to come around sooner rather than later.

After dealing with the voidtreckers already, most of the villagers who were easily spooked or made uncomfortable had stayed in areas that were safe or indoors. Which was good, considering that a few of them (Raven included) were definitely not 'normal'. The really smart ones had quickly learned that no matter how strange they looked or had powers, work WITH their defenders/helpers and do so quickly.

Which meant by the time Piccolo returned with another load, that first set of materials have been secured enough in place that Raven can let her dark energy go. Turning to him, with her same energy blanketing the new load he had, but she waited a moment to be sure. "You seemed like you had it under control, but with the way the attacks keep regrouping...." Perhaps a bit shy, not that he might necessarily be able to pick up on it.
shutupnail: (more grumpy than evil.)

[personal profile] shutupnail 2019-11-23 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"They're coming more rapidly," Piccolo replied without hesitation. "I've noticed. I won't mind the help so long as it stays ...helpful." In other words, don't slow him down. This speeding things up, however, is greatly appreciated. Even if he isn't the best at showing it.
azrthmtrnznthos: (You're serious....)

[personal profile] azrthmtrnznthos 2019-11-24 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
"They are?" Raven hadn't been able to notice how fast they were coming. It wasn't exactly a reassuring piece of news either. "How fast can you get supplies?" Because Raven could hold the supplies in place easily. At which point, it was really only dependent on how fast the villagers could secure barricades.
shutupnail: (more grumpy than evil.)

[personal profile] shutupnail 2019-11-24 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
"As fast as I can move them." Which is actually pretty damn fast although apparently he'd rather be cheeky than specific. He looks up at her, considering. "Faster than this, if that's what you're wondering."

[personal profile] azrthmtrnznthos 2019-11-26 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe it was just that she herself often hid so much emotion behind a deadpan facade, that allowed her to sense that hint of amusement from the alien. Certainly he was more controlled in his emotions and not 'leaking' anything other than a basic sense of purpose and hint of frustration. Pausing, then letting a not-quite-smile come to her face. "Go for it." She confirmed, sure to meet his eyes.

One hand out, dark-energy taking the supplies as Raven fit them into place so the workers could continue. Now it really was up to the villagers, and soon enough they'd catch on hopefully.
