Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

Void Trecking

The thing about being on a train hurtling through void space is there’s not much to see. Outside the window lies an endless void of kaleidoscope colours shifting and swirling. It’s probably best not to stare at it too long. Do so and you might start to imagine order in it. Shapes, places, even figures. But your eyes shift... Back to chaos. Probably best you do something else other than stare out the window. Or convince your fellow passengers that void watching leads to headaches!

Relaxing

The newest carriage to be added to the Voidtrecker Express is a rock garden. In a glass domed carriage, flickering with the light of the void the rock garden is a peaceful and medative space, full of mosaics, a pond, fountains and small stony bridges.

It's also the closest to an outside space you have and so is likely to be used for less than peacful activities. Splash in the rivers, race around the paths. Or try and relax on a bench and read amongst the chaos.

Goblin Town

Goblins riding wolves, everyone's favourite foe. The wolves fly, obviously and the goblins fight with short spears, almost like knights on horseback if the knights were terrifying and demonic looking. They are causing trouble by harassing a small village.

Team One

Fight the goblins. A handful of weapons have been provided but mostly you need to try and outsmart the goblins. They can come from any direction, including up. Try and keep the village safe from their attacks.

Team Two

Protect the villagers, help them barricade their houses. Deal with any goblins that get through team one's defences. Some of the villagers want to help and that's alright, some of the villagers want to help and are still in single digits, that's probably less alright. Keep everyone safe!

Team Three

The thing with sieges is, some things still need to happen. People still need to eat. Babies need fed and looked after. Animals need tended. Try and help with the logistics of everything in the heart of the village, as far away from the fighting as possible.

Wei Ying points his flute at her with a laugh. "La! You were finally speaking nice enough this one said hello!"

She snorts. "Hardly shy! See the way it catches the light? That's mica. Fools gold, I hear it called sometimes. It needed the light to catch it right."

Feanor XD

He approaches, flute flicking behind him as he peers at the stone curiously. "Aah. I've seen it before. What sculpture are you planning for this little one?"

"My husband needs reminding, at times, that not all jewels are precious stones." She says and straightens.

"That is the only one here. I need something else... hm."

XD It's even in the name. FOOOOOOL

Wei Ying laughs. Oh he understands that. Maybe not in terms of precious stones, but...Fun. Something pretty...he hums quietly and slowly turns, eyes half closing as he seems to listen while looking. "Maybe one in the water?" He asks when he pauses, facing the pond.

Feanor just said OI

"Hm." She hikes up her skirt and wades in, eyeing the pebbles.

"Yes, perhaps some greenstone..."

giggle

He smiles and moves to another end of the pond, near the little bridges before wading in to scoop up a few ideas for her. "Perhaps one of these?"

She comes over to look.

"Hm, cheeky things." She says disapprovingly at the ones in his hands. "They're trying to trick you. They aren't greenstone at all, see how the color isn't clear?"

Wei Ying widens his eyes and pouts at the pebbles, seemingly wounded by the betrayal. "Aa...Why would you do this to me?!"

He sighs before smiling, bending to set them back in the water. "How about..." he stays crouched down but holds out a few more for her inspection.

"Here." She crouches down and shows him what to look for.

"It's not just the color, but the clarity. If you listen, the water and the stones are singing in harmony. My son could probably tell us where exactly and what stones are in here, but if you listen, you can hear... Ah, there!"

She picks out one.

/snicker

"Hmm..." Wei Ying obediently (Yes, he can be obedient!) half closes his eyes to concentrate on listening for what she's talking about. Having the example helps and after a minute he wades a few feet away to scoop up another. He stands and holds it out with a hopeful look. "What do you think of this one?"

[marriedanidiot]

"Well done!" She praises him. "You have good ears, for a human. I assume you are human, yes?"

[yilingdaddy]

He grins at the praise and offers the stone to her. "For you! They want you to use them." Human...? Well, the ears tell him she's not, with that question.

"Mm!" He nods. "Are you a fairy?"

[marriedanidiot]

"Ah, I thought so." She smiles. "I've not met many humans except Tuor, though, and he's almost an elf himself."

She shakes her head, accepting the stones.

"What is a fairy?"

There's also Elrond, who sometimes, when he's missing his brother, comes off very mannish, but he is very definitely an elf.

"Well..."

An elf...? Wei Ying hums, touching his nose as he thinks. Then shrugs and tilts his head, smiling teasingly at her. "I don't think you're going to eat me, so it doesn't matter."

She raises an eyebrow at him.

"Fairies eat people then? How concerning..."

[yilingdaddy]

Even if he was afraid, he wouldn't show it. Plus, she's been kind! Wei Ying laughs.

"It's alright! You're too nice to be a fairy."

[marriedanidiot]

"I should hope not." She sniffs.

"I am Noldor, of the House of Mahtan."

[yilingdaddy]

...OH. RIGHT. MANNERS.

He quickly draws Serious around himself and steps back to bow, arms forming a circle in front of him with the flute sticking out at an angle. "I am Wei Wuxian. It's nice to meet you, Madam Noldor."

He's nice enough to not say he thinks her name is rather odd.

"No dear." She corrects.

"Noldor is what I am. My name is Nerdanel."

[yilingdaddy]

Wei Ying grins as he straightens.

"Madam Nerdanel." This time he has a bit of trouble rolling the sounds of her name around, but he makes a good effort!

She tsks.

"None of that. Just Nerdanel is fine. I was never one to like titles."

Besides Princess/Queen just... felt wrong. Earwen wears the crown better.

"Wei Wuxian." She says with careful diction. "A star shines on the hour of our meeting."

[yilingdaddy]

He pouts playfully at her as he absently twirls his flute before tucking it behind his back.

"If you want me to only use your name, then...you may call me Wei Ying." Even if it might make Lan Zhan a bit jealous...He'll happily accept his punishment later.

[marriedanidiot]

"Is that your epesse? Thank you, Wei Ying."

That's...odd? But she's nice so he doesn't mind explaining.

"Ying is my birth name. Wuxian is my courtesy name." He rubs at the side of his head a little with his flute before adding, "Wei is my surname."
