Test Drive Meme 006

Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!

3. Have much fun!

Happy testing!

Void Trecking

The thing about being on a train hurtling through void space is there’s not much to see. Outside the window lies an endless void of kaleidoscope colours shifting and swirling. It’s probably best not to stare at it too long. Do so and you might start to imagine order in it. Shapes, places, even figures. But your eyes shift... Back to chaos. Probably best you do something else other than stare out the window. Or convince your fellow passengers that void watching leads to headaches!

Relaxing

The newest carriage to be added to the Voidtrecker Express is a rock garden. In a glass domed carriage, flickering with the light of the void the rock garden is a peaceful and medative space, full of mosaics, a pond, fountains and small stony bridges.

It's also the closest to an outside space you have and so is likely to be used for less than peacful activities. Splash in the rivers, race around the paths. Or try and relax on a bench and read amongst the chaos.

Goblin Town

Goblins riding wolves, everyone's favourite foe. The wolves fly, obviously and the goblins fight with short spears, almost like knights on horseback if the knights were terrifying and demonic looking. They are causing trouble by harassing a small village.

Team One

Fight the goblins. A handful of weapons have been provided but mostly you need to try and outsmart the goblins. They can come from any direction, including up. Try and keep the village safe from their attacks.

Team Two

Protect the villagers, help them barricade their houses. Deal with any goblins that get through team one's defences. Some of the villagers want to help and that's alright, some of the villagers want to help and are still in single digits, that's probably less alright. Keep everyone safe!

Team Three

The thing with sieges is, some things still need to happen. People still need to eat. Babies need fed and looked after. Animals need tended. Try and help with the logistics of everything in the heart of the village, as far away from the fighting as possible.

Pick a team, go wild!

"Ah." Well, Amery couldn't argue about who was older or not, really; he was only twenty-five. And honestly, he didn't really care about who was older. "I highly doubt that I'm a clone," he continued. "I grew up in Volstov." And he doubted Bucky even knew where that was.
luckybucky: (So confused and innocent)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-08 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
It only mattered if who the 'original' one was mattered. Bucky wasn't sure yet, but it did feel oddly like the plot from a sci fi novel. "Volstov," he repeated. "Is that somewhere in Russia?" It wasn't a familiar name, which meant it probably wasn't an important place, but he was smart enough not to say so. "I'm from Brooklyn." According to the museum.
amery: (∞ All I hear is blah blah blah)

[personal profile] amery 2019-12-08 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't know where either of those places are, so I assume not," Amery said. He doubted Bucky had heard of Xi'an either, or the Kiril Islands, or anywhere that was close to Volstov. He wouldn't hold it against him though; he had a feeling they were from two vastly different places.
luckybucky: (Are you fukin crazy?)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-08 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
That wasn't quite what Bucky had been expecting when he came over to interrogate his near-twin. He'd been expecting a fight. What he was receiving was just. A lot of confusion.

"Do you know what Hydra is?" He asks, because that's maybe the most important thing, here.
amery: (∞ Are you high or something?)

[personal profile] amery 2019-12-09 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Most of the time, people who came to Amery expecting a fight got a fight, but in rare circumstances...

"Haven't the faintest idea," he said. "Why? Is it important?" It must be, if Bucky was asking him about it.
luckybucky: (Sorry)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-09 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Bucky nods. "They're bad people," he replies quietly. "If you were one of them, we'd have a problem. If you knew what they were, then they probably made you. But since you don't..." he shrugs. "What're you reading?"
amery: (∞ This had better be worth my time)

[personal profile] amery 2019-12-09 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Lucky I've never encountered them, then," he said. At least, as far as he was aware. Dealing with the Ke-Han was bad enough; he didn't need to throw new enemies into the mix.

"Ah, it's nothing." He settled his hand over the cover of his book, obscuring it from sight and hiding his shame; it was a romance novel, the type he'd never willingly admit to reading.
luckybucky: (Sorry)

Bucky takes a seat next to Amery, and turns his attention to the little stream running along the train car's floor. "Do you enjoy nothing?"
amery: (∞ This had better be worth my time)

[personal profile] amery 2019-12-09 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
"I enjoy many things," Amery said, moving his book to his other side so he could better conceal it, and not have to worry about it so much. "Reading is one of them."
luckybucky: (A little happy)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-09 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
"What else?" he asks, and pointedly avoids even looking at the book, since Amery is so protective of it. "I've tried a racing game on a computer in another car. I enjoyed that a lot," because sharing information was important when you're asking for it. He knows that much.
amery: (∞ Are you high or something?)

[personal profile] amery 2019-12-09 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
"Mostly...reading..." he said. Alright, so maybe he was boring, but he was without Anastasia here, and there were a lot of things he was still rather clueless about. "You understand how to use computers?"
luckybucky: (A little happy)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-09 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
The response gets a smile and a little chuckle from Bucky. "I spend most of my time here, looking at the water. Trains scare me, and the water helps me stay calm."

He nods to answer the question, though. "I'm not very good at them, but I know how to start the games."
amery: (∞ This had better be worth my time)

[personal profile] amery 2019-12-09 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"The water is quite lovely," Amery agreed.

After a moment, he glanced over again. "Perhaps, sometime, you could give me a few pointers about computers?" He didn't have the faintest idea how to use them, so someone with even minimal knowledge knew more than he did.
luckybucky: (A little happy)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-09 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Bucky glances up with a little smile. "Sure. It's not too hard, once you know what the symbols mean. Mostly you just have to read everything on the screen before you do anything," at least that's what had kept him out of trouble.

Or so he thinks.
amery: (∞ This had better be worth my time)

[personal profile] amery 2019-12-10 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Amery nodded. "Thank you. They seem quite fascinating, I've just...never encountered them before." He was literate, at least; that would come in handy, if reading everything was important. He'd suspected it was before, but Bucky had helped reaffirm that.
luckybucky: (A little happy)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-11 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Volstov must be really far away if there are no computers," he replied, turning his gaze back to the water. "What kind of books do you like to read?" He was trying to do some reading now and then, but he just didn't know what to start with.
amery: (∞ Are you high or something?)

[personal profile] amery 2019-12-12 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"I imagine it is," he agreed. Though, he liked to think Volstov made up for it with their dragons. Dragons were better than computers.

"Ah-" that was a very good question, and he took a moment to think about it. "Mysteries, mostly," he answered finally, "Sometimes adventures." Anything with archeology, really.
luckybucky: (A little happy)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-13 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
"I started with manuals," he replies, offering a little smile. "I didn't know how to use much of anything when I first got here, and it helped a lot." Which meant he was going to gift all of his manuals to Amery, probably. He didn't need to read them more than once, anyway.
amery: (∞ This had better be worth my time)

[personal profile] amery 2019-12-13 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, that's wise." Amery approved of that method. Reading came in handy many times, not just for entertainment. "If I may ask, what caused your troubles?" He didn't want to pry, but he was curious.
luckybucky: (Sorry)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-13 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
There's precious little Bucky remembers, but that question is one of the few that are easy for him to answer. "Hydra," he replies, and quickly follows it with an explanation. "We were at war with them, and I was captured. They had me for at least sixty years, but part of what they did to me caused me to forget everything. I'm remembering things, a little at a time. Like how I fell out of a train once, and into a canyon."
amery: (∞ Wary and broken down)

[personal profile] amery 2019-12-14 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Bastion," Amery swore under his breath. He didn't understand how some of that worked, but he wasn't about to start actually prying. He knew all about being at war though, and the horrors that it could bring. "I'm sorry. That sounds truly awful." In ways that he could not properly express.
luckybucky: (Sorry)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-14 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
"It wasn't as bad as you'd think. Mostly it was just cold and wind, and I hit so hard I barely felt it," he explains. "But I was captured after, and experimented on again," he flexes his metal hand, holding it up so Amery could see the metal hand clearly. "They're the ones who did this."
amery: (∞ Are you high or something?)

[personal profile] amery 2019-12-15 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Amery stared at him for a long moment. Falling 'hadn't been that bad'? No matter what Bucky said to brush it off, it sounded awful.

On instinct, Amery started to reach out before stopping himself and drawing his hand back. "Forgive me," he said. "That's quite fascinating, though."
luckybucky: (A little happy)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-16 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
He extends his metal hand towards Amery. "You can touch it," he replies softly. The idea that anyone would want to made an oddly warm sensation settle in Bucky's chest. "I can feel it almost the same as the real one. The metal goes in, all the way to my spine."
amery: (∞ Are you high or something?)

[personal profile] amery 2019-12-16 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
After some hesitation, Amery reached out again, touching Bucky's metal hand as gently as he would a butterfly. "Does it feel pain?" he asked quietly, marveling at the metal. It reminded him of the dragons, especially his girl. The color, the feel of the metal, the way the joints worked together.
