Test Drive Meme 006

Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!

3. Have much fun!

Happy testing!

Void Trecking

The thing about being on a train hurtling through void space is there’s not much to see. Outside the window lies an endless void of kaleidoscope colours shifting and swirling. It’s probably best not to stare at it too long. Do so and you might start to imagine order in it. Shapes, places, even figures. But your eyes shift... Back to chaos. Probably best you do something else other than stare out the window. Or convince your fellow passengers that void watching leads to headaches!

Relaxing

The newest carriage to be added to the Voidtrecker Express is a rock garden. In a glass domed carriage, flickering with the light of the void the rock garden is a peaceful and medative space, full of mosaics, a pond, fountains and small stony bridges.

It's also the closest to an outside space you have and so is likely to be used for less than peacful activities. Splash in the rivers, race around the paths. Or try and relax on a bench and read amongst the chaos.

Goblin Town

Goblins riding wolves, everyone's favourite foe. The wolves fly, obviously and the goblins fight with short spears, almost like knights on horseback if the knights were terrifying and demonic looking. They are causing trouble by harassing a small village.

Team One

Fight the goblins. A handful of weapons have been provided but mostly you need to try and outsmart the goblins. They can come from any direction, including up. Try and keep the village safe from their attacks.

Team Two

Protect the villagers, help them barricade their houses. Deal with any goblins that get through team one's defences. Some of the villagers want to help and that's alright, some of the villagers want to help and are still in single digits, that's probably less alright. Keep everyone safe!

Team Three

The thing with sieges is, some things still need to happen. People still need to eat. Babies need fed and looked after. Animals need tended. Try and help with the logistics of everything in the heart of the village, as far away from the fighting as possible.

Pick a team, go wild!

"That hasn't happened yet. Good going Parker." He mutters to himself before quickly shaking his head and offering a look somewhere between a smile and thinned lips.

"Uh... sorry. I'm Uh... Just checking to see how you're adapting-I can teach you to play a game though-it might take your mind off the train?"
luckybucky: (Sorry)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-04 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
Adapting. The word had him stiffening a little, but clearly this kid wasn't a handler, and didn't mean any harm. Which was, honestly, kind of weird.

"Okay," he replied quietly. "You should pick the game," because Bucky sure as heck wasn't going to recognize them, or even have a preference. "How did we meet?" he asked, because he could, and because Peter didn't seem the least bit afraid of him.

Peter nods enthusiastically. "Yeah, of course. There's a really cool racing game in the game car-it's a lot of fun and it's a lot like uh.. Mario Kart if you've... ever.. played that." He trails off, starting to tap his fingers together as his anxiety starts to take hold. Not from fear of Bucky but from his own social awkwardness.

"Oh-Uh... We met in Berlin but that was uh.. back in 2017 so I don't-I think I might be a little ahead of you. But uh-actually, I'm gonna be real honest, I have no idea what was going on but Mr Stark wanted me to fight Cap cause apparently he went crazy or something? No one really explained it to me."
luckybucky: (A little happy)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-04 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
About three percent of that made sense, but it was actually super disarming. Bucky even cracked a hint of a smile and huffed out something that might have been a laugh in another life. "Then we can both have no idea what's going on together," he replied, gesturing for Peter to lead the way, in the general direction of the gaming car. "What's a Mario Kart?" he asked, because maybe it would be better to redirect Peter's energy to something that wasn't incredibly confusing.

"Yeah, that's... pretty much the story of my life." Peter nods in agreement before he starts moving towards the game car.

"Oh! It's a game-You control a go kart and race. Usually there's just a few laps. But they don't have Mario-Kart here but they do have Space-Racer, which is similar and a lot of fun."
luckybucky: (A little happy)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-04 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
A go kart. He supposed he would just find out what that was when he saw it, as he followed Peter to the game car. "So it's a car game?" he asked. "Are you even old enough for cars?" They restricted that by age now, didn't they? He was pretty sure they did.
hashtagparkerluck: (Why they gotta use THAT pic?)

[personal profile] hashtagparkerluck 2019-12-04 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
Peter stops long enough to give him a look. "I have a learner's permit. But that's not really-It's not a real car. God, that'd be dangerous. It's just like uh... a game where you control it on screen. Without actually being in it-and it's not real car. It's a virtual car. Or uh. Spaceship in this case."
luckybucky: (A little happy)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-04 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
He lifted a brow at that look, but at least he hadn't stopped following. "So you're flying a spaceship without a permit?" At this point he was being intentionally obtuse. Mostly because it was nice not being the one who was super confused by things for once. "While we're riding on a train to nowhere?"
hashtagparkerluck: (491)

[personal profile] hashtagparkerluck 2019-12-04 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Well... yeah. I guess. But you don't really need a permit to fly a spaceship that doesn't actually exist. It's more like a computer program and you are killin' me here, Smalls." He lets out sigh and tries to think how to explain this better and then thought occurs to him. "...You haven't seen the Sandlot before, have you?"

"I'm not sure exactly where the train is going but it's gotta be going somewhere. I hope we stop soon though because I get really bored super easy and hate being in the same spot for long. Which I guess I technically wouldn't be because we're still traveling through the void-but still."
luckybucky: (A little happy)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-04 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm not sure what that is," he replied lightly, but he was at least amused, and Peter's chattering filled up the space of his silence very nicely. "And if I was trying to kill you, I wouldn't be so slow about it. Killing is my specialty," which he wasn't sure how he felt about, exactly, but he hadn't had much say in the matter.

[personal profile] hashtagparkerluck 2019-12-04 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
"It's this really old movie-it's pretty good." Peter explains. "And dude-it's just an expression-or a quote in the movie. I don't mean-Don't kill people dude. It's hella rude." He points out, not really sure where to start on that other than to point out that it's rude.

"There's no need for all that-Hydra's not-Oh sorry, Is that a trigger word for you? I should have asked first. Did you ever notice their logo isn't a Hy-uh... Greek Mythological creature? It looks more like an angry octopus-or the Cthulhu. Like, whoever designed that obviously didn't know what they hell they were supposed to be drawing."
luckybucky: (That was super cute)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-04 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
That actually manages to get a laugh out of him. "I've never killed someone because I wanted to," he assured, shaking his head a little. "You can say Hydra, just don't start talking in Russian, okay? And no, I never really paid it much attention, I don't think. Do you read Lovecraft?" Because that was, surprisingly, something he recognized. Honestly, he was really starting to like this Spider-Kid.
hashtagparkerluck: (what's my combination again?)

[personal profile] hashtagparkerluck 2019-12-04 08:03 am (UTC)(link)
"It's not supes reassuring to hear that you've killed anyone for any reason but, you know. Whatevs-as long as no one orders you to kill someone here. And that's not a problem because I don't know any Russian other than like.. Das Vidanya which was never translated in Anastasia but I'm pretty sure it means rest in peace. Other than that I know Spanish, Italian and a little French."

He nods as the question-he'd actually really enjoyed Lovecraft. "I read a lot. Or I did-I still kinda do-but a lot less since becoming Spider-Man. But yeah, the Hydra logo doesn't have three heads-it looks like a tentacle monster."
luckybucky: (Sad and I hate you)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-04 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
He hesitated, letting Peter fill the moment with words as he tried to find the right ones. "Hydra forced me to," he replied, his voice a little quieter now. "And the tentacles are because they get their filth into everything. Nothing is safe from them, not even now. They're still out there, hiding. Cut off one head, and two more shall take its place," he said, like a fucking parrot. The words left a bad taste in his mouth, and his face was twisted into a grimace.
hashtagparkerluck: (sounds fake but okay)

[personal profile] hashtagparkerluck 2019-12-04 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"...yeah, that logic never made sense to me." Peter admits as he continues to lead them to the game car. "I mean, if the whole thing is is based on head growing back after someone slices one off-maybe it's time to ix-nay the head slicing thing and try a different approach. But I guess it's all metaphorical."

He leads them through one of the quiet cars and then into the gaming car, still chatting away. "Well, at least you don't have to worry about them here because they'd have like... no power and I'm pretty sure Mr Stark would find some way to throw them out of airlock."
luckybucky: (A little happy)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-04 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
“We could just bomb the hell out of them,” he replied helpfully. He was relieved to reach the game car just the same, and happily followed Peter up the stairs. “If they did show up, I’d help him do it,” even though he still wasn’t sure who Mr. Stark was — though it did sound eerily familiar. “So do you just hang around here and play space racer all day?” He asked, because that sounded like a pretty fun time, if he was being honest.
hashtagparkerluck: (503)

[personal profile] hashtagparkerluck 2019-12-04 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Whoa. That escalated quickly. No Dude, no bombs. Other people could get hurt. I was thinking more along the lines of like... undercover espionage or something. You know, like a secret agent goes and uncovers a list of all their agents-that kinda thing." He moves over to the video game console and hands Bucky one of the virtual reality glasses and then the controller.

"Nah, not all day. I have chores I gotta do, and I like to bother Mr Stark in his lab sometimes."
luckybucky: (That was super cute)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-04 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
That got a real, honest-to-goodness laugh out of Bucky. “I guess since the War is over, using spies is probably better,” he agreed. He accepted the glasses and controller, giving them a looking over, and flashing a grin. “Why does a kid know about that kind of stuff, anyway? You should be more worried about chores and school, not spies and the draft.”

He pulled the glasses on, and a few seconds later pushed them up. Down, up. Down, up. He wasn’t sure what they were supposed to do, but it was definitely strange putting them on.

Peter just sighs, there's such a huge gap of pop-culture references between them and honestly it's a little sad to him. Bucky probably hasn't even seen Star Wars and that's the real tragedy of all this. He really hopes they get movies soon.

"You'v never seen or read James Bond before, have you?" He asks as he flips the console on and then puts his own glasses up, quickly setting the game for two players.

"We'll do a tutorial track so you can get the hang of it and it'll walk you through stuff. But uh... this part steers and press x to hit the gas-the weird squiggly thing shoots things at people and the square is for reverse."
luckybucky: (A little happy)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-04 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
“Nope,” he replied lightly to the Bond question, paying close attention to Peter’s instructions for the controller before pulling the glasses down again. “Oh. This is much better,” he’d been wondering what was so great about the game, but now it was obvious. “So James Bond is a character?” He asked as he fiddled with the buttons.
hashtagparkerluck: (488)

[personal profile] hashtagparkerluck 2019-12-04 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, he's a British Spy for the MI6 known as 007 and he goes around taking out threats to to free countries and people with like... uh... death rays and stuff." He explains as he selects a space ship for his race.

"All the Bond villains have this habit of like... monologue their diabolical plans when they capture Bond who always escapes and triumphs in the end. But they're usually a fun ride even if you know the formula."
luckybucky: (A little happy)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-04 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
“What, like Archimedes?” He snorted, picking out a different ship for himself and marking himself as ready. “That sounds like it could be interesting,” especially if it wasn’t particularly realistic.

He was going to love Austin Powers. As soon as the tutorial started, his ship zoomed off. And immediately crashed.

"It was a book before it was a movie-if you get enough points-uh eight, I think. You can probably get one from the shop." Peter states, his ship zooming off and not crashing.

"Man, that's rough. But don't worry, you'll respawn in a minute." He assures.
luckybucky: (A little happy)

[personal profile] luckybucky 2019-12-07 07:36 am (UTC)(link)
Points. It's such a weird way to think about it, and he looks over at Peter while he's waiting to respawn. He looks solidly ridiculous, but he supposes that every new invention was weird looking when it was new.

He respawns, and this time he was a little more cautious. He crashes often, but he doesn't get upset -- he even lets out a laugh at one when he was bumped off the course. "You were right," he decides quickly. "This is fun. Really weird, but." Fun.

He wasn't used to fun, but he decides that he likes it a lot. And, by extension, Peter.
