Test Drive Meme 006

Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!

3. Have much fun!

Happy testing!

Void Trecking

The thing about being on a train hurtling through void space is there’s not much to see. Outside the window lies an endless void of kaleidoscope colours shifting and swirling. It’s probably best not to stare at it too long. Do so and you might start to imagine order in it. Shapes, places, even figures. But your eyes shift... Back to chaos. Probably best you do something else other than stare out the window. Or convince your fellow passengers that void watching leads to headaches!

Relaxing

The newest carriage to be added to the Voidtrecker Express is a rock garden. In a glass domed carriage, flickering with the light of the void the rock garden is a peaceful and medative space, full of mosaics, a pond, fountains and small stony bridges.

It's also the closest to an outside space you have and so is likely to be used for less than peacful activities. Splash in the rivers, race around the paths. Or try and relax on a bench and read amongst the chaos.

Goblin Town

Goblins riding wolves, everyone's favourite foe. The wolves fly, obviously and the goblins fight with short spears, almost like knights on horseback if the knights were terrifying and demonic looking. They are causing trouble by harassing a small village.

Team One

Fight the goblins. A handful of weapons have been provided but mostly you need to try and outsmart the goblins. They can come from any direction, including up. Try and keep the village safe from their attacks.

Team Two

Protect the villagers, help them barricade their houses. Deal with any goblins that get through team one's defences. Some of the villagers want to help and that's alright, some of the villagers want to help and are still in single digits, that's probably less alright. Keep everyone safe!

Team Three

The thing with sieges is, some things still need to happen. People still need to eat. Babies need fed and looked after. Animals need tended. Try and help with the logistics of everything in the heart of the village, as far away from the fighting as possible.

Pick a team, go wild!

Relaxing - is assumed CR okay?

“Penny for your thoughts?”

Peggy is still getting used to having Steve back so soon after the pain and trauma of his sudden loss. Especially because this Steve is someone she doesn’t quite recognize. He’s older, more careworn. A little less shine. She feels a little awkward around him, and it pains her.

She’s holding two mugs of tea in her hands and reaches down to give one to him. She’d thought she would find him here, and came prepared.

“You looked miles away. May I see?”

it's fine!

"Not sure they're worth a whole penny,"

Steve looks up from his work, then immediately sets down his pencil and moves it and the pad of paper onto a more stable position on his though. It's probably fairly obvious what his answer is going to be. Seeing as how he's already reaching up to extract the cup she holds out.

"Knock yourself out." At least once he's taken a couple of sips of tea and then offered the sketches once she's settled herself comfortably.

Peggy pages through the sketchbook, sipping her tea. “No dancing monkeys this time?” she jokes, remembering the last time she’d been allowed to look at his drawings, back in Italy. It feels so long ago.

They’re settled companionably together, drinking their tea. It almost feels normal, despite the insanity of their present situation.

“Who is this?” She asks, pointing to a face she doesn’t recognize.

Steve huffs something close to a laugh, although he's careful not to spill the liquid inside the cup. "Not today, no." It's a good day. The lack of government flunkies and agents telling him where to go and who to fight is a huge plus, despite the otherwise trying circumstances. Peggy's presence doesn't hurt either - right now or just in general.

"That's Colonel Nick Fury. He ... runs the group that I work for now." Because Steve hasn't been as forthcoming about the future as maybe he should be. "The woman next to him is Maria Hill. I think you'd like her."

Colonel Fury certainly looks the part of a no-nonsense commander, what with the eyepatch. And Maria Hill as well. Peggy wonders what sort of life this Steve lives now, seventy years in the future.

“Steve, in your time, am I...?” Dead? Quite possibly. Very, very old? Of course. In her nineties and unable to claim that dance.

“...never mind, it’s not important. Tell me about the work you do with these people.”

Oddly enough, it's a life not that much different from what he did with the Howlies and the SSR. Slightly more advanced technology, still fighting assholes trying to take over the world. From the way his lips thin and press together, Steve really doesn't want to answer the first question, although if she leans on him about it, then he won't lie to her.

The second one isn't quite as bad. "I deploy with a team to places that need help." Although it's also not as forthcoming as it could be.

That had been the wrong thing to say. Internally, Peggy is berating herself. Why had she just blurted it out? Of course he wouldn’t want to talk about a corpse or a decrepit old woman. Or the woman he’s seeing now, if there is one. He’s had a life without her now. She can’t expect him to cling to the past and his wartime flame. She likes to tell herself that she’s far too practical for that, but that would be a lie.

So she focuses on what Steve is telling her.

Peggy forces a smile that seems almost natural. She’s a spy; she’s nothing if not a good actor.

“Sounds rather like what we had you doing during the War.”

"It is a lot like that," He offers after a minute of thought. Most of his life isn't private anymore, but then that was true during the war as well. Once his enlistment papers got stamped 1-A, then Steve Rogers belonged to the Army and the US government.

Just because he spent almost 70 years sleeping hasn't changed that.

"Little bit more funding this go around, though."
