Race Against Time: OOC Information
The mission start is now live! The post can be for characters planning in the couple of hours before arrival and for the initial arrival on world. A ongoing mission catch all will go up on the 10th November but feel free to start your own posts on the event board, just be sure to be clear what team mission your character is doing for ease of tagging!
There is a post for radio communication here. As it is voice communication on an open channel, instead of the usual threads everyone should reply directly to the post itself.
On day 10 as the final planning of the evacuation off planet is happening Jori and Mira will explain a situation that requires a team of people to go on a final mission. This request will be forward dated and a post will go up on the 15th November to give people time to ask questions IC and decide. There is a sign up thread below to sign up for this final mission. Sign ups will close on the 18th.
The extra mission itself will be taking part on Day 11 but the thread will be forward dated to the 18th November. There will be a post for the final evacuation for everybody else during this time as well.
Lay of the Land
Planet #16125 is harsh and unforgiving. Mostly rocky and volcanic. There is a surprising amount of plant growth, especially in coastal areas and decent amounts of forest. It is hot and the air is almost unnaturally still.
Smoke rises from a number of volcanoes and the ground shakes regularly with earthquakes, often not huge but very frequent. Sometimes rocks and ash burst from the volcanoes, raining down on the planet, adding to the space debris that also bombards it. Fire can spring up suddenly and without much warning. The air is hazy with smoke and ash, the sun a rare sight. Despite this characters will not struggle to breathe, though it is not at all recommended to remove your SCA on this planet. The general conditions get worse as the mission continues, the planet is destabilising. Shakes will get worse, volcanoes will begin to erupt. It is a dangerous place.
As a result of the environment all of the places where people live on planet #16125 are low built, if not underground and reinforced. The villages are small communities, usually around twenty to fifty people in a complex of underground bunkers. Protected from the elements. And the wildlife…
Creatures
Lindusi
The most prevalent creature on the planet are Lindusi. When you meet them you will quickly understand why they have not been evacuated to other planets. Lindusi are almost lizard like in nature, scaled, clawed, sharp toothed. The smaller breeds stand at about the size of a human toddler, the largest tower above any person. But luckily there aren’t all that many of the largest.
Mostly they come somewhere in the middle, large, quick and very territorial. They can be cajoled and lured with food, but it is a constant battle to convince them that people are not food. Capturing them will be a difficult job, even with all the help the scientists can give.
Other creatures
There are a few regular animals around as well. Mostly domesticated ones but some hardy creatures have survived the destabilisation of the planet. They will be much easier to round up.
Routes
As usual the SCA will have a basic map of the area that can be assessed at any time as well as the mission information (the information from the initial ooc post in blockquotes).
Characters can use the science base as a hub for eating, sleeping and regrouping.
Red
They will be using small fighter craft to blast away space debris. The cockpits are small and will just fit two people in at a push. They need two people to operate. Once they get use to co-piloting the controls aren’t that difficult, even if they have never flown before. Not easy, but not impossible.
Craft can be in the air for six hours at a time before they have to recharge. They are not designed to leave the planets atmosphere.
Purple
They will be evacuating people using bubble pod trains. An engine with two spheres attached, each able to hold ten people. They are easy to use and fast enough to dodge the falling rocks. They have no weapons system but do have a basic shield system for debris and charging lindusi.
The villages are bunkers of people. Some will come easily, some will take a lot of persuading and even in a few cases, force, if the voidtreckers decide to push the matter. They are of all ages and pretty tough, having lived on a planet that is actively trying to kill them. Any reluctance to evacuate comes from pure stubbornness, they have lived here since the initial evacuation. Scientists are always harping on about the end of the world, it will be fine.
Orange
Time to catch some lindusi! Passengers will be given devices that look a bit like yoyos with a wrist strap. They are basic restraints that will allow them to capture a lindusi and lead them to the transport vans that the scientists have. They also have tranquilliser darts if any of the large ones can’t be coaxed. Or try to eat them.
The scientists have four very large transporter ships that hold pens for lindusi. The aim is to fill each one before it leaves off world, there isn’t enough fuel for multiple trips.
The scientists will escort them to the places with the largest populations of lindusi, to try and round up as many as possible.
Blue
Blue team will be given a small shield, a disk that they hold in their hand that creates an energy shield when needed, this shield can be projected up ten feet from the person holding the disk. The shields last for up to thirty seconds at a time so are mostly used for blocking rocks or bouncing back attacks whilst everyone gets to safety.
They also have a tranquilliser gun and are assigned to groups of scientists, including those from the orange team, to keep them safe whilst they round up lindusi.
NPCs
As usual there will be the chance to speak to and interact with NPCs. Please fill our the NPC request thread below for anyone who wishes to talk to any scientists, fighters, villages etc. You are welcome to npc your own scientists and villagers as well.
Rewards.
Taking part in a mission in any way will earn you five team points! You claim those by submitting a link during AC!
Also threads of 10 comments or more where mission goals are being worked towards will also earn you 10 team points. To claim those please fill in the form below and reply to the rewards header!
If you have any questions just ask! Have fun!
