Thomas Price was raised by monster-hunters and spent decades in a hell dimension; his ability to read a situation was badly skewed.

"Me personally? No. But the kitchen might." Thomas might have grown up with English food, but he was well-traveled enough that it wasn't the weirdest thing. And probably better for this creature than the tomatoes. "What is he, if you don't mind me asking?"

He does set things aside, and move to what food storage is there, rather than elsewhere in the train. He's still not putting his back to the pet, or making sudden movements, but it's more caution than fear -- he's not hesitating or anything, just being deliberate. Things look fine, but animals are not the same as humans, and might not read his movements correctly. Of course, if the pet thinks he might get a treat, he might well be mobbed with slobber rather than attacked.
