It's a space opera - very much about the crew and their trials and tribulations as they live among the stars. Indeed within the context of the world (considering this has been found on a space station) it is a very 'slice of life' soap opera. The fanfiction is a mix of stuff that seems quite faithful to the story and wilder AUs or shippy stuff though nothing very explicit or nsfw. There's a multi part fic sprinkled throughout the notebook with shorter pieces as well.
