- No, they will not have their powers. They will in general already be greatly damaged mentally, that it will affect how they will be able to proceed in the days going forward. They will need rest/treatment. It's less of a cat and mouse and more like leaving them to get torn apart.

Only the latter option will give the illusion they're fine mentally.

Edit: I just want to make clear to the group that this will be a mental torture that will not have their minds well for quite a while. While they will not be physically harmed, their minds will be put through the wringer, experiencing both types of the trauma, especially the physical. The only limit, of course, is that I don't want your characters to be unplayable from then on.

But I would not be making plans of them doing much, especially anything with powers or making clear decisions.
