oh gosh, i really like the whole pets program at the library idea, because alice would have loved to nerd out by reading at the library and bringing her cat along. and she definitely would have been interested in other people's pets, and i doubt most people would have brought mice along, so mort would super stand out. it's the best way for them to meet, by nerding out over pets and how much of a good little bean mort is.
