It is very wasteful and Lan Wangji is already quite agitated about it. One of the rules of his sect was that they should never waste food and yet so much of it has found its way to the ground and the walls of this car. If he were a cruel man he would tell them they had to lick every bit of it off the floor. But he has great patience and so he will hold his tongue.

"Usually it would not be proper to do so." But in these circumstances he really is ready to give up on trying to have any sort of peaceful meal in this place. And they have already broken so many rules that at this point, Lan Wangji finds that breaking etiquette just so he can eat in peace might be worth it.

He pushes himself up out of his seat and picks up his food. Clearly he is throwing all propriety out the window in this one moment. "Do you know of a quieter place?" Even if the man hasn't been here long, certainly he has that knowledge. Anywhere else would be better then this so that he can finish his meal without worry about someone else's lunch ending up in his lap.
