There are the sandboxes - a device that literally looks like a metal box of sand but is a computerised mining and building game where you can create miniature civilisations. It’s quite fun, but is clearly as much a teaching tool as it is a game.
Some of the rescuers are using small drones and many Terran's also have motion detecting machines and small weather monitors. Monitoring the environment around them is apparently a hobby...
There is also plenty of metal around from the fallen tunnels. There are gem stones as well, but getting those would require leaving the city towards the mining areas.
