Theatre Idea!
Hello, fellow... what? Trekkers? Trekkies? ... No, that ones already being used. Void Warriors? ^^ My dudes?
Okay, nevermind that, I am doing something VERY OOC for me, personally as a person. I am going to try and get many people involved in a Thing and hope it doesn't all blow up in my face!
So to the point.
Some of you already noticed my plurks and some replied IC to Gladio's Network Post (though in hindsight I probably should have done THIS first before going IC. But I am not famed for my thinking ability), but after an IC conversation with Bryn and some time thinking about it, Gladio has decided it might be an interesting idea to start a little theatre group!
This is something everyone could get involved in, in any way they want! And it lends itself quite nicely to this months theme of learning something new or doing something new!
Things we'd be looking for:
* Actors and actresses, don't need to have experience, just enthusiasm! Could give the most wooden performance of your life so long as you're willing to have fun while doing it! Singers are also good to have here, just in case the play has singing numbers!
* Costumes and costume design. I think there are people who are already interested in doing this, but that doesn't mean there can't be more!
* In the same vein, prop creation and design or acquisition! Anyone who is good with making things or papier mache, this is for you!
* Set design and creation! We'd need artists for this. People who can paint sets and backdrops and other pieces, or design something that could be used as a stage.
* Musicians! We'll need music, and sound effects, so if you play an instrument then we want you! If you can MAKE them as well, that would be amazing! Simple instruments that people can clang or bang or little whistles and stuff that don't need years of practice, those could be useful!
* Tech people! So maybe you wanna add some lighting effects? Pyrotechnics? This could be for you!
* At the same time, magic users! This could be your time to shine! Think you have a skill that could be used here? I'd love to know and love to use your abilities!
* And, of course, writers and songwriters! People with imagination and a story to tell, we need you here!
Because my thought was, rather than doing the works of Shakespeare or some Greek tragedy, we could write our own stories. They could be silly, they could be full of angst, they could be romance! Whatever takes your fancy! We could play out stories from the worlds our characters come from, bringing to life important events that happened to that character. Maybe exaggerate them a bit for theatre! The idea if to have fun with this!
Though might have to handwave a lot of this. But if people can come up with a name of a play and a synopsis for it, that would work just as well, I think! ^^
* There is also a BIG thing that I wasn't too sure about... Salvage on missions. Just how much are people allowed to pick up? Say... we find ourselves on a world where they have interesting clothes. Could we get some to use as props or as fabric to use for other items? Could we get materials to use for sets and such? Would these things vanish once we have them and bring them on the train? Is there a limit? I'm not sure of the details on this. But if anyone is willing to make the effort to find items that can be used, that would be amazing!
Also also... Another idea popped up!
A Murder Weekend!
So the idea I was thinking for this was that I would randomly pick a murderer and PM that person. It would be up to the rest of the train to try and work out who did it! And victims would be picked "at random"... because they might not always be random! ^^ They might have some connection. What WILL be random is PM's to people with hints as to the identity of the killer. Clues to be picked up. Though it would be up to people to work out if it's a Clue or a Red Herring!
Does that make sense? If anyone had any ideas for that, I'm open! I was thinking a series of open logs for it!
But as I said, for any and all of this, I'm open to ideas!
I just wanna have some fun. And get everyone involved in something outside of missions!

It probably needs its own ooc/planning log, especially if it's going to be a real death and not a fun carnival game organised by the passengers (like i/c mafia? If this is what you meant then I misunderstood, sorry :P) Given the likely CR ramifications, people should probably be allowed to opt-in to be picked as murderer rather than it being randomly picked from the whole passenger roster? I'm kind of unsure whether a murder mystery on a train where the passengers so far are Insisting That Everyone Must Get Along will work out... like, it might suck in the long run if the murderer character gets ostracized or even lynched.... but gosh, I want a murder mystery. I hope there's more interest in this and someone gets something going. :3
Regarding the theatre idea, my character has almost the same skillset as Webmind... she's basically a sentient laptop. If the group gets to the point where they need a soundboard or that kind of tech coordination, you have a tech crew on board?

The murder mystery sounds fun too (you may need to have IC sign ups, as if you picked a character who wouldn't engage it wouldn't be too fun!). Again Romeo love that. LO would be love that too but probably in a bad way :P

Fëanor has a list of how-not-die-of-boredom-on-the-train projects but he can easily be distracted by something more shiny.
So Gladio is absolutely free and encouraged to rope him into this magnificent endeavor.
EDIT: just don't let him take over directing ANYTHING, or forcing his ideas of How Things Should Be (TM) on anything that's not purely engineering/design ... he will insist he knows better, spoiler: he doesn't.
