Somehow in the middle of a pitched boarding action, this man just logs in behind the guy you're fighting, out of nowhere, to clock the pirate fighting you. Eyes and some streaks in his hair an out-of-genre luminous cyan.
"Sup," Chase says, drawing his sword. "Looked like you could use a little help. What needs doing?"
Whatever rig he's using to access the VR network, it's got absurdly low ping; he moves at a fluid 60 FPS without stuttering.
2: Dressing up. Sort of.
Chase isn't going through outfits and putting them on. Chase is, in fact, going through outfits, looking at them, flickering out of existence in a pattern of tessellating hexagons, then flickering back in wearing new outfits.
"Little more retro than I'm used to," he says. "Man, I bet Cammie would love this."
3: Team 1 - Experimental Science Unit 1 "Chaser"
You have a mecha on your wing, humanoid and blue and without enough room for a cockpit. It fires a hand-held mecha-scale rifle at a bogey approaching from your 10 and salutes.
Juilan speaks over the commo: "Heads up - there's more where that one came from. Looks like you could use a little help."
4: Dancing, sort of
Julian is grooving to the music at the dance party - as a hologram. Sometimes his holo clips through a table, or the person he's dancing with; every time it happens, he winces, but tries not to draw attention to it.
5: In the flesh. What's left of it.
One of the train cars, during this whole thing, now houses a large medical tank containing most of a torso, with a breathing mask and heavy cybernetics and life support systems. Blue circutry on the poor man's head glows, then fades as he looks up.
"I know how it looks. But man. You should see the other guy," he says.
