Fandaniel isn't any sort of an engineer, but he can follow directions like a pro, and he's got an instruction book and a pile of tools and he's been making pretty damn good headway so far. Hydraulics, come to find out, aren't anywhere near as complicated as he'd expected them to be! But frankly some of the construction looked extremely dubious to him, and the Ascian finally gives in to the desire to be better prepared, grabbing a nearby lift's controls with the intention of maneuvering the thing into place beneath the ship for extra support.
Which is about when a chunk of the undercarriage or wheelhousing or something gives way and the entire craft tilts alarmingly.
It's probably good for Jaika that the Ascian does not in fact stand there as the ship suddenly stops, he disappears in a roil of darkness to reappear perhaps ten feet away again, a spanner and lift controls still clutched in his hands.
There is the sound of beeping and moving machinery, but it is mercifully quick. "Let it go. The lift should support it." He SOUNDS utterly calm but he is in no way ACTUALLY calm.
Nearly being squished would seriously put a crimp in his day plans.
