So of course that's where Fandaniel is, up to his elbows in a hole dug in the dirt, studiously adding what looks awfully like pale blueish potatos into the hole. A little dirt goes in, then another potato. By the dug marks elsewhere, he's been at this a while, and has already planted at least four other sets. It's also apparently tiring work by the damp spots here and there on his Train Issued Hoodie that suggest he's been sweating a bit, but he hasn't actually pulled down the hood to allow for more air circulation or anything.
Honestly having some hooded guy digging enthusiastically around in the dirt isn't even remotely the weirdest thing going on in this train right now. But usually gardens are well lit even with artificial light! Right now though, the lighting seems ... strangely pale and wan, lacking the strength it should have. It's creating deep, dark shadows behind every leaf and twig, every sprout of grass and of course Fandaniel himself.
The plants don't seem to mind.
Not my zoo, not my monkeys
There is a small row of cages alongside one street in the city, each one containing a monkey. The cages seem made of nothing more than wood and vines, a couple studded with flowers and one growing a particularly fat looking apple, so probably were the little simians determined they could eventually chew their way out but right now they ... are busy with a small array of fruity snacks on the inside of those cages.
Oddly enough they don't seem to have any DOORS. It's as if the cages had simply grown, with a monkey already inside.
Maybe that's actually what's going on, given Fandaniel's nearby.
The Ascian's not visibly doing anything besides piling cut fruit on a nice piece of ground meticulously, closely watched by several monkeys. His hood's up - of course it is, even though he still doesn't have his mask - but the faint smile he's wearing is still visible. These creatures were clever but had simple interests, and knew to watch out for the traps the Voidtreckers had been given. Fandaniel had no such device in sight so clearly he's not involved in that!
And then he steps back and walks away from the piled fruit. It doesn't take long for a monkey to get brave enough to approach and work on snagging some delicious sliced goodness, but as soon as it does the ground erupts into a tangle of vines, snaring the hapless creature in rapidly hardening wooden bars. It screams for a few moments, bits of food and less savory things tossed about, but as this doesn't get it free, eventually it settles down to eat the remaining snacks.
"I really hope someone else will be on cleanup detail," he muses aloud. "These little things are terribly messy."
