Will Stanton | The Dark is Rising

Luggage Handling
When he was troubled, Will liked to go walking outside. The familiarity and the solitude of it helped, somehow. But here on a train there was nowhere for him to go. Seeking a space to be alone, he eventually ends up in the baggage car.

Here, too, there was a kind of familiarity, to the attic at home he had claimed for his own space. It had the same jumble of disorganized and forgotten things. With a small nostalgic grin he climbs up on one of the larger trunks and surveys the space.

On the Train
Will spends a great deal of time staring out the window at the void and thinking. He knew how his own universe worked. He was a piece of that working himself, and he had known the power that kept the stars burning and the planets on their courses. But the very existence of the void was proof to him that he was terribly far away from home.

What power balanced the universe here?

Scavenger Hunt: Team One
Will stares about the junkyard rather hopelessly. He was here to help, and even wished to do so. But he was a creature of magic, and before that he had been a country boy more interested in feeding the rabbits and playing with the dogs than in learning the ins and outs of mechanics.

What could he do here?

He gives the list another puzzled look, and then turns back to the piles of junk. Perhaps if he tried to organize it by shape?
