Test Drive Meme 007

Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!

3. Have much fun!

Happy testing!

Void Trecking

The thing about being on a train hurtling through void space is there’s not much to see. Outside the window lies an endless void of kaleidoscope colours shifting and swirling. It’s probably best not to stare at it too long. Do so and you might start to imagine order in it. Shapes, places, even figures. But your eyes shift... Back to chaos. Probably best you do something else other than stare out the window. Or convince your fellow passengers that void watching leads to headaches!

Board Games

The game carriage is full of games. Every board game imaginable from silly party games to serious strategy games that last for hours. There are a disproportionate amount of games about trains.

Grab some friends, grab a game and some beanbags and get playing! Dive into a world of deck building or play a silly card game. A great way to alleviate boredom.

Happy Holidays

You have arrived in a place which might remind you of Victoria London if Victoria London had floating palaces and was ruled by wizards.

Their rule is strict and any kind of Winter celebration is banned. You have been called by a group of rebels to help with an underground celebration.

Team One

Distraction. Be out in the city, keep watch. If the guards get anywhere near the secret entrances distract them. Perhaps by being a lost tourist. Perhaps by causing mayhem. Make sure the organisers and party goers can arrive without a hitch.

Team Two

A party is not complete without food. The party is being held underground and there isn't much in the way of kitchens and do help bake in people's houses and smuggle the food across the city. Careful of guards.

Team Three

The venue needs decorating and the presents need wrapped. It might be an underground bunker but everyone is determined to make it the best festival ever, despite the risks. Help make it happen!

Party

Of course after all that hard work there is time to celebrate before you must board the train once more.

Eat drink and be merry!

Peter has some extremely mixed feelings about the idea of Darth Vader being on the train but he's mostly kept his distance because he doesn't want to get force choked. It really just his luck that he'd get the wrong room. He was going to meet up with Gwen for reasons he refuses to disclose and got Vader's quiet car instead.

"Whoa." His spidey sense hits hard and it's almost dizzying as he stumbles back. "Whoa, I'm so sorry-I was-uh.. not doing anything. I got the wrong room."

01: void trecking
[ The most important thing to learn about Naruto - that most will learn very fast - is that he does not like being told what he can and cannot do. That said, if told he shouldn't stare out the window and given no real cemented reason why not and with honestly not much else to do at this current moment, passersby will find him outright glaring out of that window with a look on his face of childish determination. If aforementioned passersby get close, they might hear him muttering.. though "close" is relative, because nothing about Naruto's voice is ever quiet. ]

Yeah I know, dumb fox, I got it. Just let me do it, y'know. [ A little pause, then he curses some garbled and probably situationally incorrect curse word and slaps a hand on his forehead. ] If ya'd stop distractin' me I'd be able to get it down! You're givin' me a headache!!

[ No-one would blame you for leaving the crazy kid to talk to himself out the window, you're completely within your rights to just walk on by. ]

02: board games, more like bored games.... ha ha HA!
[ Naruto is something of a self-proclaimed expert at go fish. One, because it's the only game he knows how to play and two, because he's played it a lot over the years to stave off the kind of loneliness only orphans hated by their entire village know about. The downside to this is that Naruto has only ever played with clones of himself, who share his knowledge and therefore are ridiculously easy to beat.. in a world where people introduce varying levels of intelligence (all presumably higher than Naruto's) Naruto considers his boat well and truly rocked.

So as far as he's concerned, drastic times call for drastic measures. He makes a show of pausing the game as he needs to take a shit - yes, his words, those words come from his mouth - and when he returns he's in oddly high spirits to say he's facing a devastating loss. Little does his partner know (he's assuming, but let's be real, he's not the sneakiest guy in the world.. for a ninja) he's summoned a clone of himself to circle around the back of his Go Fish Enemy to peer at their cards and mime the cards he should ask for next in order to steal the win back.

For all his experience he should know that this still won't secure him a win because the game Does Not Work Like That, but did I also mention he haaaates losing?

Are you the person he's playing against, or are you someone walking by and witnessing this dirty cheat in action? Idk man you're the roleplayer. ]

03: team three
[ Naruto can be found in an assortment of places this time. For a time he's kneeling next to someone doing their own bit of wrapping, watching with glassy eyes as one might to a literal fucking wizard doing some unbelievable feat of magic, his brain practically spitting smoke from how little he can believe what is happening before his eyes. ]

No no, wait a second, go back a bit, y'know! Go back to the bit where ya folded the sides in, I'm still not gettin' it!

[ Or maybe you find him while he's giving it a go for himself! The first few attempts see him tearing great big rips into the paper as he brings it around to cover the box, and in the attempts after that he manages to stick his fingers together with tape, wrap a present perfectly only with the paper the wrong way round, and also to tie his finger into the bow on the top so tightly he has to wreck his hard work in order to release himself.

Alternatively later on, when he's given up on present wrapping for the sheer waste of time that it is, he can be found walking on the ceiling as nonchalantly as if he were strolling down the street, hanging a paper garland (that someone else made, don't worry) from a few supports. When he sees you looking up, he'll crow at you: ]
Hey! Throw me another while I'm up here, will ya?

Paper never felt any shame for how he came across his powers - he never quite understood the issue people took with warlocks, but he also wasn't aware of some of the other patrons that existed. His own patron, one of the great old ones, often did not care for the lives of their devoted - they oft were in it for something else. Paper? He just stumbled into it all on accident.

"Not a wizard, no. Those of the White Tower didn't deem me worth teaching. A warlock, though. It was a happy accident."

With her permission he cast phantasmal force on her and made the illusion that the book was a sort of texture-based representation of what happened outside the window. Each color was represented by a different sort of texture - some where smooth, some rough, some felt almost sharp, some bumpy, some fuzzy, and more. In addition each texture was on a geometric face, and the faces constantly shifted and morphed, as did each texture. Instead of a kaleidoscope of colors constantly shifting and swirling, it was a kaleidoscope of textures.

He offered her the book. "The top cover of my book should feel like it's shifting and changing. I did my best to try to capture how outside looks in it."

Hey, quit staring into the crazy void!

[To chide a ninja, send a ninja, or something. Edge sidles on up to stick a hand out and block his view. He's legitimately concerned the kid is having some sort of hallucination or psychotic break or something like that, even if such concern doesn't have a prayer of coming out in his attitude.]

Cal wanted desperately to just avoid Vader. He'd only met the man once, and it almost ended badly for the red-haired Jedi Knight. He'd almost been run through with his own lightsaber, he'd almost drowned upon escaping. And he'd witnessed the fear that Trilla had felt during her last few moments alive, right after reconciling with her old Master Cere and right before being struck down by Vader.

Needless to say, Cal wasn't pleased with this man being on board. But there was nothing he could do about it except try to keep the peace. He had people on board he cared about, people he wanted to protect, and if that meant....well, honestly? He wasn't sure what that meant.

He'd been meditating earlier, BD-1 keeping watch while Cal refocused his mind and worked on his connection to the Force. And he'd been in the rock gardens earlier to meditate, journal sitting nearby.

And he'd left it behind without realizing it. It wasn't something full of dark secrets and things he wanted to keep to himself, but it was still his and he didn't want to just leave his stuff all over the train, so he decides to go get it.

It's the Dark Side energy pouring out of the carriage Vader is in that has the young Jedi stopping in his tracks. He's afraid to touch anything right now, for fear of his psychometry really dialing up what he's feeling, so he uses the Force to open the door quietly, hands balled up at his sides. BD-1 rides on his back as usual and the small droid peeks over Cal's shoulder, spotting Vader and immediately ducking again.

It's a moment of hesitation from Cal, remembering the state he'd been in when he arrived and how he'd gotten all those bruises and scrapes and burns, before he steps in anyway and does his best to push through.

But the dark energy is thick around Vader and Cal finds it almost dizzying.

Until he feels the helplessness. That, he focuses on. That's a feeling he can understand.

"This train isn't really all that bad. I've been on worse." Like the train Second Sister and her Inquisitors blew up to get to Cal. That one had sucked.

There is no judgement from February when Paper explains his situation. Honestly, she would have been more put off if he were a wizard.

The carelessness of wizards has done a lot to the world she came from, and very little of it has been good.

"I'm sorry, when you say you are a warlock, what exactly is it you mean? I take it you are some other kind of mage?"

She's heard the term before, but the world she comes from doesn't make the same distinctions between spellcasters that D&D does.

And then the spell takes effect. It's a strange feeling, to be subjected to an illusion and know it. Slowly and hesitantly, she reaches across and sets her hand on the face of the book.

The textures are bizarre, wild, and shifting, in ways that she didn't expect. The strangeness of it all makes her frown for a moment, before she lifts her face up toward Paper and gives him a smile.

"Thank you for sharing this with me. Is it truly like this outside all the time?"

"Aw, of course I'd save a dance for you." He says cheerily, squeezing her closer and pressing a sloppy kiss against her head. Did you miss this Clara? Are you sure? "We'll really show them how to tango, me and you." He sounds just as gleeful about the idea as maybe one might except from him.

"The HADS? Who'd been teaching you to fly? Did she ever forgive you for calling her a Snogbox?"

It does seem to offer a variety of different locations, like it's own little universe. Little, of course, is the key word, as no matter how long or large the train might be, it is still smaller than an actual planet. Or at least any that Padmé has ever been on.

Whether she is surprised by the other's appearance, it is hard to tell. She can't recall ever coming across a being such as her, but the universe is expansive, and Padmé has barely even seen one little corner. She is petite in return, barely over five feet tall, although her presence has always loomed larger.

"More organic in a setting where you don't expect it." She comments, shifting ever so to give more focus to the other. It's that polite interest on her face, wondering as she always does. Are all her people like that? "I'm Padmé Amidala."

"Those might be good too. Add a little sparkle to the room," she glanced around the room now that the garland was fixed. Then proceeded to climb back down the ladder. Idly Clara wondered if the people here know about the mistletoe tradition. One never knew about alternate realities and what they might take part in. As it is, she had yet to hear anyone call it Christmas and it was merely the winter celebrations.

Once Clara has both feet on the ground again, she eyed her decorating cohort with interest.

"I suppose I can allow that just so long as you don't go all Three Stooges on me." She gave him a grin. While she had no problem letting him carry the ladder around, Clara might lend a hand if it started to swing dangerously.

If there's one thing Clara can appreciate, it's someone who got along with kids. Granted, the person she just recruited to help is a teenager himself but sometimes teens stop hanging out with kids. She can't help but smile when the group of kids all groan.

"Don't worry, I'll bring him right back!" Clara said as a promise with a huge grin.

Then turned her attention to the teen. An eyebrow raised at his words. "You 'stick to stuff'. Does that mean if I let you go up there, you'll stick to the decorations and end up accidentally making a mess?"

Of course she missed this. As much as she loves his Twelfth incarnation, this face will always be her first. The rest of them all came after meeting this one considering how she bounced all over his timeline. She laughs at that. "Do you even know how to tango, Doctor?"

Oh. He doesn't even remember that much? Then he really is early on in their time together. "There's only one person who could teach me, isn't there? The TARDIS and I have worked things out. We get along just fine, thanks."

"Fascinating what these humans find entertaining, isn't it?"

"I am called February."

She doesn't really have a 'people' in the way that Padme understands it - nothing resembling an organized society. But there are other earth elementals and none of them look very much like February at all - she is something of an oddity.

She returns Padme's look with a polite smile of her own.

"Every other car on this train has a purpose. For training, or reading, or eating or sleeping. It is nice to have someplace that exists to just... Be."

"It is hard to mash. I don't want to break it."

This is a communal toy, after all. And by the looks of it, it's a toy meant for children.

She doesn't want to be the sort of brute who breaks other people's belongings and forces the rest of the passengers to live a sad, hippo-less existence.

"It is... interesting. I don't really know what to make of it."

A pause, as she considers his question further.

"Are you not one? A human?"

Peter's eyes widen slightly as though maybe he hadn't thought of that. He glances up at the decorations already pinned up.

"Well... I can control what I stick to." He points out, though now he's considering how likely it is that he'll end up just making a mess. That does sound like a thing he'd do.

"But... uh... maybe I should just hold the ladder." He concedes, not really wanting to accidentally cause some kind of catastrophe.

"Oh? And what manner of travel are you used to?" Space travel, would be her guess, although perhaps a certain vessel? She does look like a Twi'lek, but in this place, she doesn't know.

There are a wide variety of different species here and it doesn't necessarily mean that she comes from the same galaxy that Padmé knows. She had been surprised to discover just how many individuals were here, and that not all are aware of anything involving where she is from.

While Clara has never met anyone who can stick to objects, she can imagine that it might get tricky when trying to put up decorations. As much as she'd like to see it, perhaps they should wait for another time.

"How well can you control it?" Was it an ability he was born with and was extremely used to using or something he gained later in life?

She reaches out to pat his shoulder with a kind smile. "Maybe later you can show off your secret power for your fanclub." Clara points back to the group of children before climbing the ladder to go fix that garland.

"Of course I do!" He responds. He's over a thousand years old, he's tango'd a time or two. It just that his usual brand of dancing is a bit off what most would consider normal.

"Oh, that's good. I'd hate for her to still be being catty. She's really quite a gem, you know." He's not even slightly bothered by the fact she's further along then him. Time travel after all-sometimes it happens.

"Now then, what do we think? Some great tragedy ruined Christmas for the king and now everyone else must suffer?"

After patrolling around the place to see if there would be any trouble, Terra decided to go in and check the decorations out. He didn't bother anyone as he walked along and went straight to see what was going on. And the keyblade wielder was half surprised as one of the citizens in a little table offered him a apple cinnamon muffin for free, just to try it. "Uh..thanks." he said with a nod and a smile as he continued on his way.

Terra saw Namine and recognized her. It instantly brought him back to when he was trapped in the darkness and had basically been sitting there doing nothing. His heart had been leaning towards melding with the darkness and she had been his light. She alerted him to fight and that Aqua was going to come through and that he needed to guide her.

She wasn't far now and he began moving past people. He was pleasant enough to the people he asked to move, but there was a hint of steel in Terra's voice that people weren't about to argue with.

Finally he cleared a path and looked at her, recalling hearing her name before from the others. "You're..Namine, right?"

The system, such as it was, was perhaps the only factor in the entire scenario that prevented him killing the various people who had decided it was their job to protect Luke from him. Understandable, of course, but no less irritating for it. Whenever he looked down at the determined expression of the boy's latest defender or ignored the latest empty threat, he waited for the flick of intent in the Force that was him seeking his presence, to answer that novel sensation before allowing them to 'chase him off'.

It was not as though either of them were going anywhere. He could have patience.

This time, there was no such interloper, and Vader stood alone, surrounded by the floating pieces of one of the virtual consoles, now disassembled. His return 'taps' echoed between them, his split attention obvious.

The attempt had been a good one, but after years of hunting down her kind, it was more telling when she made an attempt to stifle her Force presence than not. If she had not been trapped in such a small vessel, surrounded by a void that held nothing of the Force, she might have gotten away with it.

As it was, he sighed in a hiss of air as she hovered at the edge of his leashed awareness.

"You want something."

The boy's stumble is caught not by the frame but by a flick of his presence; an edge of telekinetic force that prevents him moving further back.

He considers, then releases him a second later to fall or move as he prefers.

"The girl is next door."

Cal's in the quiet coach, too, finding it an okay place to sit and meditate. Or read. He's found the Harry Potter books to be absolutely amazing, so he's reading through the first book. Again. So far, it's his favorite.

There's a small droid on his shoulder, keeping a look out and scanning the interior of the Quiet Car, just in case anything's changed since his last check of it. It hasn't, but BD-1 is thorough.

When Cal doesn't seem to be paying attention, BD-1 pokes him with his foot and trills at him.

Cal looks at his buddy, startled out of his reading and when BD continues, he turns to look at Clara.

"Sorry. I didn't hear you. BD did. He told me what you asked. Uh... yeah. It's stunning. If you don't mind feeling sick after a couple minutes. I lasted maybe four before I had to sit down."
